“World's Best Hotel”
especially restaurants
“ALL IN ALL, EXCELLENT”
All in all, an excellent hotel. Great location, adjacent to the Funicular (cable car) that takes you from Podol area up to St. Michael's Sq.. From here it is an easy walk to St Sophia Cath., St. Andrew's Cath., St. Andrew's Descent, street vendors, shopping, synagogue, National Museum, etc.. Staff spoke good English; arranged our transfer to the airport, stored our luggage for the day; and were generally friendly. Only deficiency was their lack of knowledge or ability to arrange city tours or day tours outside the city. Tourist information seems not to be high on the Kiev list of priorities. We did find, on one of our great walks to the city center, near Independence Sq. and nexrt to the MacDonald's, the Tourist Information Center where Eugene hooked us up with several day tours. The breakfast buffet is outstanding and i still am wondering what "baked milk" is. Great variety of items and they will cook eggs, omelets to order. Plenty of good places to eat near the hotel, in particular one restaurant about four doors down from the hotel. The hotel seems to fairly new and is in great condition. we were vey pleased with everything and would definitely give the hotel a "thumbs up" and a "tip of the hat."
“Wonderful old style hotel”
Great location, right next to funicular. Many eateries left down the street. Try the Oliva (Italian) and the M. Olive (Ukrainian). Staff was very helpful. The breakfast buffet was great. Nice view of the Podol from the top floor bar.
“Very Impressed”
The hotel is centrally located and close to a Metro stop. I got upgraded to a business suite at no charge on arrival - the room was immaculate and had a beautiful view. The hotel staff was very responsive, polite and went out of their way to accommodate my requests (I needed to change my money back into dollars on my last day and did not have time to go to the bank, so one of the hotel staff did it for me). I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again.
“Ukrain Trip”
The service was execellent. I liked breakfast menue. Food was very attractive. Good quality. Personal treated guests politely. Great experience
“Great Spot”
This is an excellent hotel in an interesting area...the front desk staff are proficient in English and quite helpful. If you want extra service (tours, etc.) be prepared to negotiate but you can get whatever you need. The location is great if you like to walk -- just take the funicular to access the main part of the city. You are also close to St. Andrew's Decent (cool area). The roof top restaurant is pricey --- try the Italian restaurant 1/2 block away. The gym is small and passable...the breakfast buffett is outstanding! Overall, a top notch place.
“The Riviera - Kiev's hidden hotel”
The hotel was a little expensive but it was very clean, nice, the staff was great, the food was fantastic and the location was perfect. I ate at the hotel restaurants probably 10 times and the food was great. A 10% gratuity is included with meals but I usually would leave extra as I always tip 20%; they do not expect this. The views are good too; you will get to people watch from both restaurants. The hotel is close to everything and you can walk, take a short taxi ride or take the subway to wherever you are going. The staff was professional, helpful, and friendly and most of them spoke English which was great. Housekeeping did a good job and they were responsive to your requests. I used the spa when I was there for two massages and that was nice. They let you shower in the massage room after your massage which was cool. I would definitely stay here again.
“Excellent location, helpful staff”
While traveling we stayed at 5 star hotels. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we loved the location. The funicular that does to up town is right around the corner as well as the metro. Just excellent!
“1st time in Kiev”
Excellent property, efficient staff, food quality very good wait staff very friendly. Great location close to city transportation and the river restaurants. I would stay here again.
“Exactly what you expected”
I stayed here on business and it was great. Free internet, good breakfast, hotel staff was very helpful, nothing that I could complain about. The hotel has a very nice rooftop bar that's open during the summer (not when I was there). I would recommend asking for a room towards the rear of the hotel as you are on a main street and people like to use their horns a lot. There are a few cafes on the same street as the hotel and has great access to transport.
