I had a beautiful stay at the Brown Street Inn. My bedroom was cute, cozy and comfortable. The Inn Keepers were welcoming and friendly... and the breakfast was the best!

My partner and I wanted a quick weekend getaway to see the Herbert Hoover NHS and hang out in the Iowa City area. This Inn was in a very cute older neighborhood with brick roads throughout, and only a 5 minute drive from the downtown area. We were greeted by name by the owners and showed to our room, which was as cozy as it looked in the photos. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as was the temperature of the room. Despite being on vacation, I also really appreciated being able to log into our Netflix account with Roku to settle in for the night. Breakfast was amazing, and as a person with Celiac Disease it was amazing to have an entire breakfast full of gluten free options for the two of us, and not feeling like I had to inspect my food or ask to be absolutely sure it was safe, a rarity with a serious dietary restriction. Sitting on the porch in the early morning to enjoy the homemade foods and relax was the perfect way to wrap up our overnight stay. Could not recommend this property and the owners more. We loved our stay and would be more than happy to return in the future.

A great place to treat yourself
The owners were very friendly and helpful. I called because I was coming in later than planned. It was no problem for Mark. He gave me a map of the area which really helped. I grew up with farm cats. I liked their outdoor cat. My room was clean, the bed very comfortable. The gluten-free and lactose-free breakfast was delicious, The scrambled eggs, toast, fresh fruit, orange juice, and "milk" gave me a great start to my day. Conversation with other guests around the table was an added bonus.

A delightful experience!
We were delighted with our stay at Brown Street Inn. The hosts were so charming and welcoming and they maintain a beautiful inn—the breakfasts were delicious, cookies were a lovely touch and we really enjoyed sitting on the patio and looking at the beautiful historic neighborhood. The inn was located very near downtown and the university—we walked to lunch and dinner each day. And the bed was wonderfully comfortable! We will absolutely return!

We were greeted at the door and promptly asked . “Are you vaccinated ? I had to turn away 2 customers previously that were not !” Vaccination requirements could be clearly stated when booking to avoid future issues

We just stopped for one night to split up a long road trip and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The place was beautiful, the room was comfy. The owners were out of town and we had Michelle as our ‘interim innkeeper’ and she was so welcoming and helpful. The location was great. Beautiful neighborhood and was easy to find some great restaurants and shops. The continental breakfast was a great start to our morning (especially the apple muffins, thanks Michelle!:) We would definitely stay again and would highly recommend.

No need to look any further -- THIS is the place!
When I saw that this inn had received a perfect score on its ratings, I thought that was impossible! How could a place not have even ONE person say it was even the tiniest bit less than perfect? Well, now I get it! It was absolutely spot-on in every way -- lovely hosts, spotlessly clean, comfortable, pretty, walkable to the downtown area, nice and quiet neighborhood, perfectly-appointed breakfast, little "extra" touches, and on and on.

Would definitely stay again. Went to visit kids at University of Iowa. Enjoyed having place to relax with them somewhere other than dorm, restaurant or hotel room. Owners and service are top notch. Very convenient location, too.

My husband and I passed through here on out way across country. It was a beautiful house and location! The breakfast was great and homemade. We were able to walk easily to a great Tapas restaurant for dinner. Would recommend this place highly!
