Safe and clean helpful stuff you must have working phone if you arrive late after 5 or 4 pm local time so you can talk to someone who work there, because there will be no one at front desk

Outstanding staff and service! I wouldn’t change a thing. I went for Art Basel and planned a bit short notice but was lucky enough to find this darling place. Rooms are classy and modern with real art, air conditioned which many people staying in much more expensive places didn’t have. Food is exceptional and at an incredible price compared to the norm for Swiss. I highly recommend. They are indeed service animal and pet friendly as well!

Hotel was Lovely, restaurant was superb. Hotel was in a lovely quiet location. Only negative was that the TV in the room didn't work at all & the staff could not resolve it.

Breakfast was affordable and very good. Everything was clean and very well-maintained. However, my room was rather sparsely furnished. Most furniture was cheap, the bed was hard and creaky, the headboard was just a shelf that was light and would tip if you tried to lean against it. There wasn't even a bed-side lamp.

Save money minutes from Basel
It is a great location just across the border from high priced Basel. The room was like American sized with a large bathroom. Plenty of room for someone to take a shower while the other uses the sink or toilet. I’m hate those bathrooms where it so small you can’t hardly turn around. Plus no one was at the border checkpoint during any of our crossings

Highly affordable hotel in Basel's vicinity If you want the type of glitzy anonymous hotel that you can find in every big city you should pass on this one. If you prefer a more personal, traditional environment you should try this one. Honestly, you'll be hard-pressed to find a better deal in the Basel region. Don’t be deterred by the fact that the hotel is located across the border in Germany—the border is open and crossing it is no issue at all. The room I was in was clean, and fairly comfortable. It had a fridge with a minibar. Breakfast is good and, while not included in the room, is very reasonably priced. No stay at the Krone would be complete without trying out the restaurant, which I can’t recommend highly enough. Leaving the food aside (which is outstanding—good local cuisine from Baden) the service is friendly and personal. A perfect place for dinner, also with business associates from Basel (the restaurant is well-known and also frequented by locals from Switzerland). What you may have saved in booking a room at the Krone may be offset by your dinner bill (I’m not saying that the restaurant prices are bargains), but it’s definitely worth the indulgence.

Comfortable stop-over
Stayed here to break journey between Switzerland and Germany as conditions terrible (winter - snow, high winds). I was provided with everything I needed - warmth, food, a shower; room basic but perfectly comfortable; staff very kind and the chef re-opened the kitchen to cook me something - greatly appreciated; restaurant v nice. Free outdoor parking in quiet area - seems pretty safe. I'll come here again - it makes the next day's drive a pleasure.

Very Quite Location but nice hotel.
This was just a pit stop on the way home from a 3 week tour of Italy. hotel was ok, had all the amenities you would expect from a good hotel. Only a couple of points to make was the car park was about 100 yards away and not secure. and also the restaurant was very expensive. Im sure It was great food but a bit out of my price range. Ended up in a great Greek place just up the road. But location is literally yards from Switzerland and very tranquil.

Beautiful quiet hotel and town
Loved the village and the hotel. Meals were a little pricey but all were prepared artistically and very delicious. A classy dining room. Breakfast was very sufficient. On Sat. we were not told of the Holy Holiday when inquiring about a bus to the tram. After waiting a long time we started walking to the Swiss side to catch the bus. There were no buses running in Germany,yet the staff informed us otherwise. We had a cute room with a loft and everything was spotlessly clean.

Guest house is pleasant and clean, if dated. We got the attic room, which was not as comfortable as I would like. Our child was given a mattress on the floor, which was fine. But the mattress was made of two triangles joined in the middle. When I complained we received a discount, but I was not impressed.

GOOD OPTION TO STAY OUTSIDE SWITZERLAND
We decided to stay here because the prices for hotels in Switzerland were outside our budget. Our room was spacious and clean. We asked for a play pen for our 1 year old and it was already set up with nice sheets and small pillow for my little one. For a one night stay we were really happy with this place.

Nice hotel in an old city center
An old building completely refurbished. 3rd floor walk up to a split level loft. Our daughter got her own queen size bed and loft. Close to Autobahn, 5 min from exit in quiet small village with it's own mini castle. Over all a very nice stay.

Perfect stop, great restaurant and welcome
Driving to Switzerland I looked for a place just this side of the border and chose the Krone on the basis of location and value. However, it delivered much more than that. The large room was comfortable and very clean (rated as 4 only because on top floor), the restaurant was great (wonderful leberli and also spaetzle) and we enjoyed an excellent meal in the terrace. The hotel parking was spacious and just about 20m from reception. Entry to Switzerland via Rheinfelden autobahn crossing is much easier and quieter than Basel city. I would definitely return.

Worth considering
Although we travelled to the hotel from EuroAirport via public transport and only had a short walk from the bus stop a car would be helpful if using the hotel as a base for touring. Excellent meal from the Spring Menu including a translation into English. Very good breakfast such that we were happy to skip lunch both days. Hotel staff were able to give us a good recommendation for a free morning. Free Wi-fi signal did not extend to our room at the end of the corridor but was able to be used in a communal area.

Nice place, recommend without hesitation.
Some things in the hotel are a little dated, but pleasant stay overall. Staff was excellent and for the 5 euros the breakfast spread was great. Not a typical U.S. style continenatal breakfast, this was a nice feature as meals in Europe are not cheap as a whole.

A little farther away from Basel
The hotel was very nice and comfortable. The hotel was actually a little farther away from Basel than what we had expected, although after calling the hotel, they graciously came and picked us up. It is just a short tram ride and bus to the hotel, if you have a car, then no problem! The food was excellent and a great value compared to the rest of the area. The staff was especially nice.

Visiting family in Basel and stayed here. Excellent service from very friendly staff. Had booked room only but had breakfast every morning as it was only Euro4.80 - and well worth it (coffee was stunning!). Room was serviced while we had breakfast. Staff had limited English but it wasn't a problem. Looking forward to staying again.

Freundlicher Empfang, praktisch eingerichtetes, sauberes Zimmer mit Schreibtisch zum arbeiten und ein gutes Bett. WLAN ist sehr gut. Der Hotelparkplatz ist einige Meter vom Gebäude entfernt und leider abends meistens vollbelegt wg. Restaurant Gästen. Alternativ kann man aber auch auf der Strasse parken. Praktisch ist der nahe Grenzübergang in die Schweiz.
