Paid parking was very close by, but free from 6pm, & only 50p/hour, so no biggie. Room was a little tired, but had aircon so a plus for summer use. Rooms are directly opposite a nightclub & there are alot of very active bars in this highstreet. There was noise for several hours ~1am - 3am, but yo be fair not the hotels fault & didnt really bother us, we were awake anyway. This is actually a great spot for a night out, we had a great time within 100 yards on either direction, really enjoyed it. Breakfast was good and overall price was very competitive. Dint let the noise put you off, embrace it & nake some of your own.

Thanks for your very fair review. Whilst we are nowhere near a nightclub as you suggest, I admit there can be street noise from people who are unsure of how to behave late at night. I am pleased that you did lot let this ruin your stay.

What a great place. Charming and helpful service, lovely old building, very comfortable. Good pub food and an excellent breakfast. Pub goes out of its way to be eco friendly.

Definitely not good value for money. Incredibly noisy; both inside and outside the pub with drunks wandering past shouting until well after 3:00a.m. The room was tiny without even a bottle of water on offer, although there were tea and coffee making facilities, and the tap water was lukewarm. Whilst not remotely the hotel's fault Expedia really let me down as I had searched for hotels in Berkhamstead and only found that I had managed to book a room in Hemel Hempstead for the night on finishing dinner in Berkhamstead. After a pretty much entirely sleepless night I gave up and set off for home at 6:00a.m. I will not use either Expedia or The Olde King's Arms again.

You clearly came with a negative attitude following your issue of booking the wrong hotel and not checking your booking properly with your travel agent. Everything was wrong and nothing we could do would appease that. I am sorry you booked the wrong hotel in the wrong town. We have never had complaints about the lukewarm water and this just goes to show how ridiculous your comments are. Please ensure you book the correct town next time, they are clearly very different places - and ensure you do bring your negative miserable faces near an establishment of mine ever again.

Good position. Evening food was reasonable, breakfast was ample and good. Mattress sagged a little and daughter said her mattress uneven. Wifi did not walk all the time we were there. Provider "had been called" but didn't get it operational before we left.

Our family room was so spacious. Staff very friendly. Breakfast was included and cooked to order. It’s right on the high street with lots of other pubs nearby so it was a bit noisy on the street outside til late, but expected somewhat if you’re staying at a pub that’s serving to midnight anyway. We were very happy with our stay and would stay again.

The room was really spacious, clean with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast included was really good, freshly cooked and the staff where all really nice and helpful.

Lovely comfy rooms set behind the pub in the old town of Hemel Hempstead. The wonderful friendly staff made me feel so welcome and really looked after me, making me breakfast sandwiches when I had no time for breakfast. Great food. Excellent shower in bathroom!

Wi fi down the entire time. Booked table for dinner and we were warned there was a private function setting up round us and that we needed to be gone by 6. At 5.15 were asked to finish up so felt a little uncomfortable. No Pizzas available on the menu and the platter for £17 wasnt worth the money. Breakfast was lovely and bed comfy.

I am sorry that your experience was not up to the standard I expect. The wifi issue affected the pub for 3 days which is when you stayed. It is a shame you do not feel your meal was value for money.

The owner, manager and staff were all so helpfull, polite and friendly. The food was excellent. The room was fantastic lovely and clean and well maintained. We are looking at going back next year but with the family this time. I would highly recommend The Olde Kings Arms to any one.

There was a warm and friendly welcome at this Inn with rooms - great location in the old town with historic buildings and a cluster of great restaurants - recommend the Cochin - a South Indian restaurant - Michelle at breakfast makes everyone feel welcome. Rooms small, simple, very clean with nice en-suite.

This is a quaint pub, which is not contrived for tourists. People who are used to staying in old, quirky, one-off places will like this. Those used to slick, modern hotel rooms might struggle with some of the idiosyncrasies. Lots of little steps and stairs and low beams. Manager Brett was great.

Welcome from young lady was lovely, room was A1 as was lady serving breakfast couldn’t no enough!! All good was Excellent! Only Criticism was very poor parking, had to park down the road.

Lovely building and staff. Just needs a clean.
Lovely old building with lots of charm. Very friendly staff and great breakfast. I just wish they would clean the place. Curly hairs by the sink (not mine) and grubby shower. Also emergency lighting in bedrooms is so bright, you’ll need a blackout mask.

Lots of character
Great hotel and full of character. A nice change from the corporate chains. However, this is in a busy town centre so there is lots of noise, both from the creaking floorboards and early morning bon men.

Quirky little Inn in the old (and easy to access) part of Hemel Hempstead. While parking appeared to be an issue, there were several options available. Despite being a pub, it was quiet after 10 p.m. Very helpful morning staff, fantastic breakfast choices….would return here in the future.

The staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The room turned out to be more like a flat which was fantastic. A very quirky, clean and comfortable stay. The car park on the High St was very very cheap too.
