First - I went to this property off-season. This review only pertains to off-season travel. Based on the Expedia add I expected a Viking themed experience. What I found was a regular motel. All of the "viking" amenities (in fact all amenities) are closed down off-season, even the front room with the viking-themed furniture and furs. I was disappointed, having driven an extra hour specifically to stay at this motel, that I didn't even manage to get a picture of the front room before it was closed off. Now, the people running this motel are lovely, and I'm sure if I'd made a special request to take a picture they would have accommodated it, but the need to do so was disappointing. They did make a wonderful breakfast and the bed was all I could have hoped for. So this is in no way a negative review. The value is excellent for the price, and if I were in Hanko again, I would definitely stay here. But, I would not have driven out of my way. The Expedia add may be accurate for summer travel, but it's deceptive when travelling off-season. So if you find yourself travelling across Finland off-season and are searching for a roaring fire and a mug of grog to warm up with, this is not the hotel for you. If, on the other hand, you want a comfortable, quiet place to rest in an out-of-the-way place near a closed down waterfront area, definitely stay here!

Warm Welcome
Despite being very full, still found time to make me feel like an valued guest, and a super warm welcome. lovely facilities and great location for a couple of days vacation near the beach, to walk to town and to pick up your picnic from the grocery store! Would definitely stay again in summer or winter.

Jag tror vikingarna bodde betydligt bättre.
Rummet var som en bastu, med myror som kröp efter socklarna, Det gick inte att öppna fönstret, inga toaletter på rummen endast gemensamma ute i korridoren. Övriga utrymmen var så kalla som riktig vikingavinter. Det fanns ett kylskåp på rummet men men det värmde mer en det kylde. Kan inte rekommendera detta motell. Curre

Varaudu tarvittaessa omalla makuupussilla
Yövyimme mökissä yhden yön kahden aikuisen ja kahden lapsen kanssa elokuun lopussa. Ulkolämpötila oli yöllä 12 astetta ja sisälämpötila hyvin lähellä tätä eli todella kylmä. Seinissä oli reiät tuuletusta varten joiden kautta ilma pääsi liikkumaan vapaasti. Ainoana lämmityksenä oli 0,5 x 0,5 m kokoinen lämpöpatteri, joka oli täysillä mutta täysin riittämätön siihen tilaan. Vuodevaatteet ja täkit olivat talon puolesta mutta eivät riittäneet pitämään alkuunkaan kylmää poissa. Puolisoni joutui lähtemään aamuyöstä kello viisi ajamaan lenkkiä autolla, jotta lapsemme ei jäätyisi. Kukaan meistä ei nukkunut muutamaa tuntia enempää. Aamupala oli toisaalta loistava ja lämpimänä vuodenaikana sopii varmasti hyvin yöpymiseen. Yleiset tilat olivat siistit. Kylmänä vuodenaikana kannattaa varautua lämpimillä omilla makuupusseilla.
