Hotel okay. Not many options in Greymouth. Room smelt as it someone had smoked. Couldn’t fault the food from their restaurant. Lovely flavours.

There are not a plenty of choices of hotels in Greymouth . This hotel was good and overall the service was satisfactory. Worth staying with family.

Rebadged older hotel, some upgrades, but many aspects needing improvement. No drop off area for car when car park was full, leaving us to have to park in the hotel overflow area a block away. Beds felt “well slept in” with hollow in the middle, bathroom door had paint peeling top and bottom, bin tidy in bathroom was dented and would not open, no air conditioning in the room with a cheap pedestal fan supplied with a broken floor stand. Exterior balcony has not been touched in years with heavy dirt and paint peeling everywhere. Balcony shared with the next room which meant we could not sleep with the door open for air circulation. Price paid ($265 AUD) which did not include breakfast. We expected a lot better quality for what we paid.

Probably the best hotel in Greymouth recently fixed up a bit. The area around the hotel is a little run down with only a few places to eat. The river view room we had was fine but the view of the river pretty limited.

Can not speak highly enough of the excellent staff - could not be more helpful and went out of their way - made the stay. Bright, friendly, engaging and nothing was a problem. For that alone - well worth a stay here

Not great
The door to outside balcony is not fitting very well. It was a very windy, cold, wet stay. The wind rushes into the room around the door. The heater in the room makes a very load noise about every 15 seconds not making for a great sleep. Greymouth itself is a very sad looking town.

We have a building consent in place to replace all of the joinery with double glazing and air conditioning, This will make for a much more comfortable stay. The building itself was a little dated and the balcony from the room needed a bit of a scrub. However the room had been very nicely renovated and it was well appointed. Bed was great. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn’t open on a Monday night but walkable to Speights Ale House. Overall nice and good value for money

I found the town of Greymouth to be a big disappointment especially in light of it being the stepping off destination for many tourists from around the world. Such a contrast to experience the natural beauty of Hokatika Gorge, the suspended walkway & the pancake rocks only to return to the the town for the evening with nothing open or else boarded up-no where to have a coffee or easily accessible restaurant apart from what was on offer at the hotel. Thank goodness for the Copthorne. I shortened my stay & they dealt very efficiently with that request & the meals I did eat there were well presented & more than up to standard along with the staff who were very accomodating.
