Trade winds was a beautiful property. Very private. The pool was perfect and the view was stunning. Close to beach and town. Host was responsive to any questions we had. We would stay here again.

JUST BOOK IT
After rescheduling our trip to Eleuthera 2-3 times due to Covid and then a medical issue, we were finally able to make it down to stay at Jethro’s property and it was totally worth the wait! The home is located in a nice area that gets you away from everything! The beach across the street is STUNNING and you MIGHT see 1-2 other people strolling the sand but you also might not. The property was exactly as listed and well appointed-Jethro and Bubbles (his sweet pup) stopped by upon checkin to go over a few things and that was really nice. Speaking of Jethro, you can expect his communication with you to be stellar - truly a helpful and gracious host! He now sets the bar for all VRBO hosts LOL. Highly suggest Tippy’s which is super close to the house (amazing customer service, food/drinks, and view; popping down to Ten Bay Beach (about a fifteen minute drive from the house) which was jaw dropping beautiful, visiting the Glass Window bridge (and if you’re brave and careful climb up on the rocks for some amazing panoramic pics), and hitting The Market supermarket for groceries. We did go to Harbour Island for a day trip; rented a golf cart to scoot around and it was really nice-much more of a bougie scene on that island and a lot more people if that’s your thing. But we were quite happy at the beach across the street from Jethro’s and then cooling off in the pool at the end of the day! Felt totally safe during our whole trip. Like I said, JUST BOOK IT.

Stay like you live there!
The house is well appointed with everything that you need to live there. There are a collection of toiletries as well as TP and PT. The kitchen has all you need to cook (stay like you live there) with seasonings -we added garlic powder, mustard, Mayo and salad dressing- all the small appliances and kitchen equipment is there. The grill is nice, and we used it a few times. Your beach days are covered with chairs, mats, toys and snorkel gear for the family. Bring your fishing poles! Don’t fill your suitcase with beach towels they have many. The lovely pool and deck with lounges gives you something to do on your “down time.” The two upper decks are ideal for sunrise, sunset, star gazing, meals and a spectacular space launch we saw go right over head!! The location is perfect for exploring the island top to bottom. Jethro and Cate, your hosts, go above and beyond to make sure your stay is perfect. With tips on where to eat, what to see and things you shouldn’t miss while you’re staying. If you want to live like a local and have it feel like your home. Stay here, I assure you you won’t be disappointed.

Slice of heaven!
This property was absolutely perfect in every way. Spacious, clean, fully stocked with beach towels, kitchen appliances and dinnerware. We enjoyed sitting on both decks, listening to the waves and watching the sunrise/sunset. Location of this house is exceptional and Jethro was an amazing host. He made himself available as often as we needed and had so much helpful knowledge of the island. The pool on site was a huge added bonus. It’s big enough for the kids to play in or just to enjoy while you cool off from the sun. The property is a very short walk to the most beautiful beach I’ve ever seen! We spent most of our time there. Kids loved swimming in it, walking around finding beach treasures and exploring the rock barrier at the south end. They played in those shallow pools for HOURS as the tide went out. Tippy’s was definitely a bonus to have within walking distance and full of lovely people. Food is very good, and live music was very enjoyable. Coco Cream (ice cream) was a nightly treat and only a short car ride away- kids really looked forward to that! The restaurant next door, Buccaneers, was also amazing. Everything we ordered was delicious- we even bought a bottle of their ghost pepper hot sauce to take home. We will absolutely be back to Tradewins! Highly, highly recommend this property and location. My husband and our two kids (12 & 9) had one of the best vacations we’ve ever had together. Tradewinds was ideal for us. Frequent visitors to Eleuthera we know the area quite well. The house is perfect for lounging or entertaining family who are staying at nearby resorts. We will be back for more long walks on The Bahamas best beaches.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trade Winds. It was stocked with everything needed, including beach chairs, ice chests, toys, and snorkel gear. The location near Govenor's Harbor was the perfect take off point to explore the many wonders Eleuthra has to offer. And at every turn Jethro, the home owner/property manager was there to assist. He saved the day more then once when we had car trouble (a rental car is necessary and an adventure in itself), even taking us to get pizza for dinner while we awaited our repaired rental car. Our excursions to Cathedral and Preachers Caves, Sapphire Blue Hole, Harbor Island and Spanish Wells were all wonderful day trips and regardless of where we explored the locals were warm, helpful and inviting. The hi-light was a charter with Captain Kid out of Spanish Wells, stunning beaches to comb, snorkel, swim with sea rays and pigs was not to be missed. We hope to return soon.

We loved it there...it was quiet, peaceful and very private. We would definitely be staying there again. The only issue is that it is listed as a 3 bedroom when it's actually a 2 bedroom. The pool house makes the 3rd bedroom and that has to be rented separately. Other than that, this place is fantastic. Jethro is an awesome host!

Perfect getaway
Great private location in central Eleuthera. The beach is an easy 3 min walk. The grocery store is 6 min drive and under 20 mins to GHB airport. Everything you need is stocked in the house. The beds are comfortable. The views from the top porch are gorgeous. And, I can't overstate how awesome Jethro and his wife are at hosting. They went above and beyond on multiple occasions when things went sideways due to my stupidity. Incredibly gracious and genuinely kind hosts who live near the property. You will have no regrets selecting Trade Winds for your stay on Eleuthera.

Fantastic stay!
We loved this property. It had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable, and the AC was cold. The owner, Jethro, was easy to reach and communicate with and gave us some good ideas on what to do. He lives near the property, so he met us there when we arrived, and gave us a tour and explained everything, which I greatly appreciated. There were plenty of towels, both beach and bath, and he provides a 5 gallon jug of water to start you off which was nice. Everything was clean and and the living area is a nice space for a group. The house is convenient to all things in Governor's Harbor. We ate at Tippy's, which is right down the road. If we ever travel back to Eleuthera, I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Over the 10 years we’ve been coming to the island Trade Winds is the best value we’ve had yet. It’s a great tucked away property with privacy, great access to beach, actual walking distance to Tippys and Jethro is outstanding. We’ve never had such a great host. This property is the perfect blend of real Eleuthera and comfortable housing. We will absolute stay here again and recommend it to our friends. Awesome home and property!
We had a fantastic time at Tradewinds and I would highly recommend it to family and friends. Jethro, the homeowner, was staying next door at his other property. He met us when we arrived (he let us check in early b/c we were coming from Rainbow Bay) and showed us around. Super cool guy, and his dog Bubbles was friendly too. He even showed my husband & daughter the forest behind the house & grabbed a coconut for my son. The property is really beautiful. Full of palms and flowering plants. It’s feels private from the road. The view from the top floor is beautiful - you can see the ocean to the east and beautiful forest/sunsets to the west. Directly across the road is a little trail that takes you right to the beach. Maybe a 2-3 really cool walk through forest. We walked the beach trail in the evenings and were the only ones on the beach for reverse-sunsets. Just wear bug spray! The pool was perfect and clean, it was just the right size & there were plenty of tubes & floaties provided for the kids. Four nice lounge chairs + two sitting chairs by the pool, and an outdoor shower to rinse off. The bottom and upper decks had plenty of furniture for relaxing and lounging, plus a dining table and grill on the upper deck. The house is beautiful inside. Lower level has two bedrooms. The main bedroom is spacious and has a really nice bathroom w/soaking tub and shower. There was shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, beach towels, all you need. Plenty of extra cozy linens and pillows. The other bedroom has two twin beds, but you can easily smoosh them together to make a larger bed. It was a nice bedroom for kids, plus they had their own 2nd bathroom with shower. Upstairs was so cozy. Ample lounging space. Kitchen had everything we needed (drinking water to start with, spices, some condiments in the fridge), coffee maker, toaster, etc. Large dining table, cozy couch and chairs, books and maps for reading pleasure, nice, beachy decor, pillows, nice lighting. Plenty of ceiling fans and AC in all rooms. We often just opened the windows and doors and had the perfect tradewinds blowing through the whole place! It was just right for our family of 4. We did not use the poolhouse (extra). But we could still use the washer/dryer attached to the poolhouse. We plan to come back here someday! Thank you Jethro for being so kind to us. You have a beautiful place.

Family Reunion
We met up with our family who was traveling by way of their sailboat. Jethro was so accommodating with the fact that we weren’t sure which nights they would be needing the pool house. The distance to pick them up was basically down the road which made them going back and forth to their boat even better. The beach in front of the house is absolutely stunning and virtually empty! The kids loved taking the trail but days we came with chairs, snorkeling gear, boogie boards, etc we used Jethro’s deeded driveway to make it super easy. The kids loved the pool and playing in the yard, and the 8 of us (4 adults/4 kids) had plenty of space for the 7 days we were there. The house has everything you need and is so homey, beachy, bright and comfortable. Jethro gives great suggestions of restaurants-We loved Tippys down the road and the Friday night fish fry! When the power went out Jethro came to check on the house/us. It was during the day and since we were hanging at the pool we didnt even know :) Jethro took us and the kids for a hike to the amazing coconut tree forest behind the house which was awesome. The kids found green coconuts which we cut open and enjoyed and sprouts (coconuts which have started to sprout) which we planted in the yard w/Jethro. The kids can’t wait to see how they grow. We had a truly epic time and are already planning out next trip back!!

Nice private lot with 3 minute walk to the beach down a nice path through the bush. Pool was Crystal clear and very refreshing. Beach and ocean were beautiful with plenty of area to explore or relax. Only saw a few people on the beach during our stay. House was fully equipped and well maintained. Definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time at Tradewinds. The house was beautiful, particularly the gorgeous bathrooms. The pool was well maintained and we used it daily. The mermaid pool at the end of the beach at low tide was stunning. Jethro had everything you would need for the beach (towels, chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, coolers, even a paddleboard). Communication with the owner was always easy and quick. You won't regret staying here.

The location of this property is central to anything and everything you need. Great restaurants within walking and driving distance of the property. A beautiful beach directly across from the home. Wonderful place to stay!
Trade winds was a wonderful place to stay. The proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever been to was perfect, having a home-like feel was far better than staying in an all inclusive or hotel. The property owner was very responsive to questions as was his assistant Laura. It’s a drive to get anywhere but the solitude was worth it to me. There were restaurants nearby for when we didn’t want to cook. The pool was so nice for when we didn’t want to go to the beach. Just wish the mosquitoes had stayed in but it rained before we got there so they were our welcome to the Bahamas creatures. All in all I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We arrived with 2 adults and 4 teenagers. We rented both the main house and the pool house. This property is gorgeous, the pathway leads to a gorgeous beach, great snorkelling at the end of the beach, house is equipped with paddle boards, snorkels, bikes, it was a perfect fit for adults and teenagers. Booking was a breeze and communication was quick. We will definitely stay here again if ever back on the island.

Awesome property with a very nice pool that was cleaned several times throughout the visit. House was very clean when we checked in, everything in the house was up to date. Grill and bikes could be cleaned up or replaced but didn’t need them to have a great time on this property. Great trail down to the beach. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again!

Great beach house
As a family of 5 (3 kids under 8 years old), this house worked well for us. Our three daughters shared the second bedroom which has a king bed (two twins put together). We loved the reverse layout which allowed us to enjoy ocean views upstairs. The house was well equipped with lots of towels and kitchen items. Washer and dryer came in handy and of course the pool is great after a day at the beach! There is a trail from the house to the beach which is across Banks Road. Tippy’s restaurant is a couple of minutes down the street. You can walk along the beach to get there too. We walked all the way to the end of French Leave beach from the house and the walk along the beach is incredible! Would highly recommend this house!

Fantastic Vacation!
We loved this property and had a fantastic time. Everything we needed was there. The beach was a 4 minute walk and was just amazing. We had it almost to ourselves. There were plenty of good places to eat nearby, the location was excellent. Loved watching the sunrise from one deck and the sunset from another and the sound of the ocean waves all day! The bugs were a bit of a hassle so recommend bringing bug spray. There were plenty of beach towels and the beach chairs came in handy. Came home totally relaxed.

We had a great stay at Trade Winds. The location has nice beach access and a great view of the ocean and the surrounding (mostly empty, forest filled ) countryside. Just down the road from Tippy's. The beach is truly world class. We swam and snorkeled every day. Jethro was very responsive and helpful - great host!

Now that I know some of the local spots to go I wouldn't even look to go to another location. Just wrapped up an incredibly relaxing week at Tradewinds -- located less than a 10 minute drive from Governor's Harbour and a five minute walk to one of the most amazing stretches of pink sand and turquoise blue water on the planet, this home is the perfect spot from which to experience all that Eleuthera has to offer. Our host's hospitality extended above and beyond the call of providing a clean home and convenient check-in -- not only did he guide us in the best day trips, he called around to various restaurants to make sure they were open during our (off-season) stay, as well as coordinated a rental car from one of the local mom & pop agencies. Tradewinds was rustic in all the right places, yet came loaded with all the amenities and comforts one needs and desires on the island -- not surprisingly, bouncing back and forth between the pool and the beach was the most enjoyable part of our entire trip. We look forward to a return visit soon.

Our group had a great week at Trade Winds! Jethro was very responsive to any questions we had leading up to the trip. We were able to meet him as well! We really enjoyed the pool and the beach. The ocean was rough a few days but there was a protected area just a short walk down the beach. The house was well stocked with any utensils and pots and pans you may need. Overall we had a great relaxing week!

My husband and two children (3 and 5) just returned from a wonderful stay. The property was just as advertised. Wonderful views of the ocean and just a short walk to the beach. House was really beautiful. The bedrooms could use some darker shades as it was very sunny early in the morning, but with two little kids, we were not sleeping in much anyway!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trade Winds. The location a few miles out side of Governors Harbour was great if you want something centrally located on the island. The guest house worked out perfect for you teenage son. He enjoyed having some independence while on vacation. The only negative I would have is related to the WiFi. It was extremely spotty and often we couldn't get Netflix to play for long periods of time. That may just be related to the general service on the island though. If you want a great central location and a nice relaxing place, this is a great option at a fair price.

Jethro and Laura were amazing- kept us informed and answered my (many!!) questions promptly. I cannot articulate how wonderful this vacation was for our family (8 people aged 18-55). Everyone loved every minute and we def be back!!!
