Unfortunately our stay was not a good experience. Our apartment was trashed before we arrived and staff apparently spent two days fixing and cleaning it... however when we arrived (in the very dated apartment with stained carpet) the shower had sand in it, a dirty sock was in the sliding door track, a beach towel was left behind the bathroom door, dirty dishes were in the dishwasher, dust all over and around the window sills and the balcony floor and toilet floor were dirty. There was also a cockroach coming out of the bathroom floor drain. We did inform the manager (sent him the photos as requested) and we were offered one nights credit however that was not honoured, even after Wotif contacted him. We were so disappointed we moved to another building after the first night. The manager did say had we called him he would have moved us to another apartment but being Xmas day (he mentioned he wasn’t going to be around that day) we didn’t think that was an option and we just wanted to be somewhere clean and comfortable. I am not too sure why you would have put a family in an apartment that had been trashed if you had others available to begin with! With the current COVID-19 cleaning standards in place our apartment would not have met these.

Hello Emma, our apologies that you didn't enjoy your stay at Durham Court Holiday Apartments however we have to disagree with your review. You didn't inform management of the cleaning issues until you had already been checked in for a couple of days and our cleaners had reported that apartment cleaned to high standard before you arrived. Had you informed management immediately of these issues we would have been able to witness this and upgrade you to another apartment. Our office was open on Christmas Day due to check ins and although the manager was closing early (5pm) he was also on call 24/7 for any guests concerns. We are not able to give you a refund as you already stayed in the apartment over Christmas and sand etc in the shower would have been from your stay. We have always taken Covid 19 precautions seriously and believe the room definitely met Covid 19 standards however we are sorry we did not meet your expectations for your Holiday.

Yes the building is dated however the location is very handy, walking distance to beach and shops and the on-site manager is very friendly and accommodating.

The property was very old & needs updating. Several lights did not work. The kitchen amenities were old. There were no screens on any windows. The ceiling fans were dirty and needed replacing as they were inefficient and noisy.

we stayed in room 5. since we got in the room after checking in we can see the room is in a very bad condition noting like the photos they provide in Hotels.com at all. the light in the kitchen was broken, the room was dirty with lot of dust. certain dirty, the couch was broken. we decide to go down and talk to the manager and complaining about the room. he came up with us to the room and keep saying this is a 3-star hotel what you expect. no one never complains, please check the reviews in the site everybody was happy blah blah blah. To be honest, I don't care about the reviews but what I see now is broken dirty and bad conditions. we ask him for a refund as we booked to stay 2 nights and we offer to pay for one night and only ask for one night refund and he was so rude and pass me a piece of paper showing that no refund and he stated you stay or you leave up to you. we decide to stay for a night and 2 of my friends who visit me from Zurich decide to leave Gold Coast in the morning to Sydney. I even call to Hotels.com and try to get a refund and the site could help me nothing about this. think twice before you book this hotel.

Unfortunately there is a lot more to this story that what you are saying in this review. Firstly you had already booked another hotel prior to checking in due to your friends wanting to stay in the city. You requested a refund when you arrived and before you had even been up to your apartment. When you complained about the room i sent my cleaners up immediately to rectify any cleaning problems there may have been and you told my cleaner it was fine you will do it yourself? When the cleaner asked you what areas you weren't happy with you just told her she could leave now. You never informed us you were leaving and the room sat empty at Peak season. The air conditioner unit was not like that when you first went into your apartment and we have reason to believe you deliberately damaged property due to not getting a refund.

Location was great, close to shops and beach. Property had good facilities is a little old but if your looking for a place to sleep and recharge this accommodation is great value. Great property manager who cares about people.

The pool was green there were a couple of lights blown the lounge chair was on bricks the DVD player was missing cables and it had a portable air conditioner very disappointing and over priced.

There is nothing positive to say. From the service to the fact that the rooms were outdated and threats of extra charges. Half used toiletries, curtains with holes and no security screens, our windows were touched while we were out. We also had to wait nearly 2 weeks to get our $200 deposit back.

Hello Ruth Jones unfortunately you left the apartment in a terrible state, you were only here for 1 night and it took our cleaners half a day to clean your apartment. Even with that we didnt charge you any extra cleaning charges. Once again we are sorry it took 6 working days for your pre auth to return to your bank but as we tried to explain to you a few times last week it isn't us that holds the pre auth it is your bank and due to being in debit it was taking longer than expected. Even with all the nasty phone calls we wrote a letter to your bank insisting they release it early as we know you wanted the money for the weekend but other than that there was nothing else we could do. You never complained about your apartment whilst you were here so this is the first we heard of your complaints. Next time please double check with the hotel you are staying at regarding pre auths and deposits as we explained the process to you when you checked in.

The room was not even remotely like any of the one advertised. It is dirt, old and not maintained. The manager is extremely rude, especially when I ask for new sheets as mine have makeup and white stains all over. The matress topper had yellow stains on it and the bed was like sleeping on cardboard .... This has been the worst experience I have ever had. He even thretened me saying that if even one thing is broken/damaged (which there where multiple thing broken propr to checkin) in the room that he would keep my deposit. Then refused to give us a refund and continued to argue with me in my room and wouldn't leave when I asked him to as we where getting no where. I would recommend sleeping on the Foot path before staying at this so-called "hotel".

Customer satisfaction is our top priority and we strive to give our guests a happy and stress free holiday. Unfortunately in this case the details of your review are incorrect. On the morning of your check in you rang to say you had booked elsewhere due to your friends booking at a different hotel, when management explained to you that you booked a no cancellation apartment you became aggressive and started to threaten our staff. When you arrived you were given 2 sets of keys and within 2 minutes of your check in you were back at reception saying you were unhappy with your apartment and wanted a refund. Although you hadn't even entered your apartment before you came down i gave you the benefit of the doubt and sent my cleaners up to your apartment to check on your complaints and fix any issues you may have had. The cleaners were not able to find any of the problems you claimed? You left without giving the room keys back which meant the people checking in after you had to be delayed, you also left the room in a shocking state which required extra cleans. My advice is to communicate with your friends prior to securing hotel rooms as last minute cancellations are not possible on the room that you booked.

Liked the fact that it was a working distance from the beach. Disliked how the Room/ Ceiling Fan was Out Of Order,.. When discussed this with the Manager, he stated that he needed to replace battery for the remote which he didn’t have time for as he just returned back from his Holidays the day before we checked in. Secondly the Air Con in the Lounge was not working.. Brought it up with the manager, and he said he’ll swap it with another portable A/C from another room , which he never did, but had the guts to say “ Sorry about the A/C when we returned the key. Thirdly the Couch in the lounge was Grose, was dirty on the Inside with Crumps of food and was also a sunken lounge.. where when u seat, you whole bottom sinks in. Forth The Toilet has no reverse Fan.. closed up room. Fifth, the manager wanted to charge us a deposit of $200 for The Key Security.. which we were not aware of when we booked.. Only when asked what it was for, he said not to worry.

The property was aged, but in overall good condition. Our room required a proper deep cleaning, as certain places (like below the bed or behind washing maschine etc.) were dirty. On the other hand, it was relatively cheap, close to the beach and shops/restaurants. The property manager was extremely kind and helpful.

Great family stay
Had a 2 bedroom self contained appartment, great size rooms and very comfy beds. Good kitchen facilities and the pool/bbq area were awesome and so clean. John (manager) and Ebony were both fantastic, very friendly and helpful with local info on where to shop etc. The building is older but has been kept in great condition and you are right in the heart of Surfers. We walked everywhere and the tram stop is just on the corner. Highly recommend if you want affordable comfy family place to stay. Car park very accessible and clean too. We will be back 😁

Easy check in & great manager. Seeing as the Commonwealth games were on it was a reasonable price for its location. The actual apartment is in need of a small overhaul with a good coat of paint. But overall a good stay.

Very close to the beach, cheap, but the room was VERY dirty, we found other people's hairs in the shower, parking was a terrible mess, there was no front office service to help us with questions. We had to pay for washing powder when it said it was included!!!! NEVER MORE!!!!

Hi unfortunately as you stayed anonymous we were not able to go and see what apartment you stayed in? We only recommend that in the future you come and let us know of your concerns as we would have endevoured to fix any issues you may have had and had our cleaner go and fix those problems. We are sorry you didn't enjoy your stay. I will just point out that our apartments are advertised clearly as self contained apartments, We provide a start up pack for every apartment including washing powder, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, soap, tea coffee etc but after that it is self contained. Reception has these available and would have helped had you let us know. Our receptionist is here daily until 5pm and after that the manager is a live in with a buzzer direct to his apartment and his mobile number is on the reception window, i am suprised you were never able to find a staff member? We provide free undercover secure parking for all hotel guests, one carpark per apartment plus 3 guest car parks out the front, we are sorry you found it to be a mess and would have loved for you to express these concerns to us while you were here so we could fix the issue for you.

Overall our experience was ‘OK’. The building is very old and the rooms really need an overhaul. The car park is quite low too. We have a Mitsubishi Triton and couldn’t fit under. I also had no hot water in my shower. The caretaker and the owner were very nice.

Hi thank you for your feedback it is appreciated. We have since had our whole building repainted with all new pool furniture, Our rooms have also had many renovations. We do have a height restriction of 1.8m in the carpark unfortunately but had you let us know we could have arranged alternative parking for you near the guest carpark which we do for anyone with a campervan etc. Thank you very much for the wonderful feedback on our manager John

Close to Cavill but not worth it.
This place was dirty, dusty and gross. The lights didn’t work nor did the fan in the living room. The doors were broken, & old shoes with some kind of white gross thing on it was found near the bed. The “cleaner” was walking around with SOCKS on her feet, clearly not doing much as it stank and was not clean at all. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

We appreciate all feedback John but unfortunately i can not agree with anything you have stated. Firstly as explained to you the lights and fan run by remote control which is situated on the wall for you. All you have to do is switch it on and you can control the lights and the ceiling fans. Secondly when our cleaner came up to inspect this "shoe" there was nothing there and you said you threw it away which we find hard to believe as we also checked the skip bins. Thirdly our cleaner would never wear socks as it is against health and safety and she wears correct shoes at all times.

This place was absolutely disgusting, I can’t belive it’s still open with how poor it’s cleanliness standards are. Every surface had a thick layer of dust, the dishwasher held mold covered utensils that looked like it had been there for months, all the curtains contained mold, the carpets we’re stained, every wall was marked, all the doors were hard to open as they seemed damaged, you could barely see out the windows from how dirty they were, there were food pieces in the microwave and the mirror was broken and dangerous. My partners face was a puffy mess from staying there, we would’ve walked right out when we got there if we could’ve but there was no one else available and we had driven over an hour to get there. We tried to stay out of the room as much as possible. I will never stay here again. I learned my lesson to never leave booking a place to the last minute!

Hi Meg Our records show you never turned up at the hotel? We refused you a refund the next day due to the fact we had held that booking for you. We apologise if you are unhappy with our hotel policy on cancellations but when guests don't turn up we are unable to re advertise.

Nice place to stay, close to the beach, free parking is a big plus. The manager John is a very helpful man and he made our stay as enjoyable as he could. They could perhaps work a bit more on the decor and utensils and just the overall presentation could be improved.

Great location - close to the beach but overpriced
The location is perfect, in the middle of surfers and very close to the beach. We were disappointed by the appearance of the hotel, the reception felt more like a backpackers, we couldnt use the balcony which I found out on check in because it wasn't safe, the couch in the apartment was ripped and the furniture needed updating. it's Definately a budget hotel (without a budget price tag)

Allocated parking spot full of furniture, when guided into another space we hit the roof as to low.(broken Roof Rack) Room dirty with mouldy bread ( 3weeks old) left on the bench, we had to wash all plates cups and cuttlery as not clean, tv remote had food on it. Manager weird always around us and complaining about other guests. Manager knocked on our door 8am and threatening us we had extra guests staying and also said we had water leaking from our balcony and he wanted to look at it and came in to check. It was coming from air cond overflow from apartment next to us, but you could see that from the ground as we were the bottom unit. On checkout the manager told me 7.30am when I was taking bags to car his cleaners were here and needed to start work so if we would hurry! He was also complaining about missing items from next apartment so I told my wife we need to get out of here. Within 30sec of giving him the keys we loaded the kids and started to drive when he stopped us about damage to tv stand and I needed to go up with him (here we go I said) The cleaner and Manager in the room walked me to the tv and the black plastic stand had 3 cracks that you would not notice within 2min, but when I checked the cracks it was so old you could see dirt and dust that looked as old as the tv. He told me he was going to bill this to our credit card, I said if you do I will fight this. This was my birthday weekend getaway and I will not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Awesome location
Great value hotel in the perfect spot for someone wanting to holiday in Surfers. Short walking distance to shops and food and beach. Self contained room has all you need for a comfortable stay.

John, you were fantastic....BUT
The hotel is very small and something out of the 60's. The room we were given (4) has such potential to be renovated at a small expense and looks nothing like the room pictured on the website. New soft furnishings are in desperate need. There is a new flat screen TV which was huge. The ensuite off the main room is just a shower - no toilet. The location is pretty good - tram stop on the corner and near plenty of restaurants and beach at the end of the street.

Close to Cavill Avenue
We enjoyed our stay at Durheim. The facilities aren't 5-star, but they are certainly adequate. I loved the comfort of the lounge suite, especially. The apartment was clean and definitely sufficient for our needs. Being close to Cavill Avenue, we didn't move the car once we parked it. John was friendly and helpful.
