avoid the restaurant!

Location: nice area
Room was very comfortable and roomy enough. Spa and pool was good and very convenient. Restaurant service was a huge disappointment. The sirloin steak was mediocre (compared with an excellent sirloin enjoyed in North Berwick the week before). The glass of red wine ordered to go with the steak never arrived although we were offered someone else's sparkling rose wine order, and our neighbours were offered someone else's drinks order, indicating a complete breakdown in the beverage department. The bill took 35 minutes to arrive despite 3 requests , rather pathetic when it is all computerised anyway.. we didn't want to risk breakfast so went elsewhere.

Poor customer service

Cons: Deal with problems earnestly and offer either recompense for failures or change in room
Location: Central Cheltenham is great for it's variety of boutiques,galleries and shops around the Promenade. A visit to the twee village of Bhurton is a must
Our shower was faulty so we had cold water which was not fixed despite promises to do so and no offer of a change in room was made.The spa facilities were also fault with the steam room poorly functioning for over four weeks though staff falsely portrayed this would be fixed "imminently" to all newcomers. Breakfast was satisfactory though the grill had little variation daily and scrambled eggs either overly runny or overdone!Staff were pleasant but clearly need to have greater customer services training to know how to deal with complaints with honesty.

Pros: The grounds
Cons: Staff training - reception and customer service. Also attention to the damp problems and redecoration of the bathrooms.
Location: Lovely centre - loads to do. Parking was convenient and a fair price.
Unfortunately I booked the same hotel as 10 years ago, without realising and it was as bad as then! Had I known, I wouldn't have wasted the money. I supposed we were limited in the area for dog friendly hotels, so that is one reason for booking it. The room smelt 'damp' - as 10 years ago and the bathroom was really old fashioned- 1970's? Yellowed sink unit, cracked floor tiles and poor silicone sealant. Other guests photos are TRUE. The WC leaked after flushing, which we only found out about in the middle of the night (wet feet). I reported it to reception a.s.a.p. to spare some one else the same fate! Fair breakfast - nothing exciting; poor quality sausages and undercooked bacon - yes I could have asked for other bacon. The grounds were very nice, but the kitchen yard was washed out of an evening and stank! The pool needs cleaning, redecorating and there were so many soap suds in the hot tub - why??? The chemicals made your eyes water. Sulky staff on reception- young girl checked me in and did not make me feel welcome, even though I was friendly and polite! Very disappointing. Very noisy corridor (room 310); people and children running up and down the corridor - don't people have any respect these days? Very loud party of girls (?) next door, who did settle down around midnight, otherwise my OH would have 'had a word'! Look elsewhere for a room.

Friendly helpful staff

Pros: Comfortable bed, helpful staff.
Cons: Use less chemicals for cleaning and polishing, as they made me sneeze.
Location: We went to the Clocktower pub to eat which is part of Marston Inns. My partner was competing in the English National Sheepdog Trials near Northleach.
The Duty Manager found a room that suited my requirements after the first one was very dark and the second very smelly. The Receptionist was smiley and pleasant as were the bar staff. The bedroom was spacious and comfy with ceiling to floor windows overlooking the gardens.

Lovely break

We had a great weekend stay for our anniversary. Lovely room overlooking the gardens & golf course. We had a delicious meal in the restaurant that was as good as any good quality restaurant we have eaten in. The staff were all Very helpful & friendly. The health suite Changing rooms are a bit tired, but it was lovely to be able to use these facilities. Would definitely go back & would recommend to others.

Very good clean room and good spa facilities. Insufficient staff- one on reception to deal with check ins and outs and answer phone - unmanageable so phone does not get answered when you ring and staff too busy to be helpful. If you do not get package with breakfast included read the small print; breakfast eye wateringly expensive at £24 each - we did not eat there!

Pros: Convenient location (was hosting a reception we were at)
Cons: Needs a full refresh and overhal
Tired worn out hotel, pictures hanging off the wall, poorly finished bathroom and generally very run down. There are much nicer places for similar or lower rates in Cheltenham and I would definitely not stay here again. Oh and the roof was leaking in the corridor!

Cons: cleaning and adding air con
will not go again very small room .24.00 each for breakfast at bit much .we wanted to stay another night but first night was 82.00 second night was 450 .00 .so we went on to another hotel .and wished we stayed there both nights .brekfast was 15.00 each that was a very good breakfast indeed [Marriott puckrup].

good for relaxing not quite good for business-man

Pros: the hotel looks friendly and well managed, staff is gentle and supportive
Cons: condition of the bathrooms, really quite dated.
Location: green all around and it is a reasonable distance from center town
my room was the series 3XX and unfortunate you have to accept no view at all because the rooms are facing a service area with a wall in front.
