It is a fine old building in a lovely part of the country. The reception staff were very helpful, even assisting us without question to change rooms when we found the room we were given had a small window and was dark and with little fresh air. Poor lighting was a feature of both rooms, with bulbs being severely low wattage or just not working. Room cleaning was great however.
We were a little bemused by one or two bar staff, who seemed to be untrained in good bar work such as noticing their customers in order of appearance and remembering them from one round to the next. Breakfast - Continental - was good.
Overall, a mixed experience that could have been better with a little extra time and care at all levels.
