Was only there one night unfortunately, Rick the owner really looked after us, saw the monkeys come down into the garden early in the morning. Rick recommended places to go and restaurants and bars nearby, he even joined us for a rum punch. Would be a great place for large family or group of friends to take over the whole place, pool area with music, barbecue, even a dart board.
We stayed at Battaleys Mews for a week and were very happy with the overall experience. I recommend hiring a car as it's the easiest mode of transport to getting around. It's a 5 min walk to the beach and on our way we were greeted by lovely locals. There is a 24hr gas station at the end of the road which is very handy. Our tv wasn't working for the first 2 days but the helpful staff got to the bottom of it and was fixed in due course. Highly recommend.
Fantastic setting next to the beach, superb helpful staff always trying to help.
Don't ever forget the afternoon tea, we always rushed back to this! The sandwiches and cakes were to die for!
The gardens are awesome, just truly tropical with the occasional hint of mongoose, hummingbird and monkey!
Except for a bit of a mix-up with our check-in information (to which the staff were very apologetic and quickly corrected) we had a wonderful suite (No. 42) which was huge, clean, in a great location, and very comfortable at a very reasonable price. Would highly recommend.
Throughly enjoyed every minute of my stay. Staff was friendly and helpful even before we reached the resort. Grounds were very well kept and pools always clean. Especially loved that numerous activities were scheduled into the package. Never a dull moment. Plus the food was always exceptional.
The location of the Fairmont on the West ("Gold") Coast of Barbados is perfect! It is on the prettiest stretch of beach for at least a couple of miles in each direction! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - many favorites, but Charlene was awesome! The food at the restaurants on site was fantastic, and very convenient not to have to leave the grounds to eat - esp. breakfast and lunch. I have already recommended this place to friends and family and can't wait to come back and stay again. Unless you can justify the multiple times the cost to stay per night and eat at Sandy Lane, the Fairmont is the best choice with little to no compromise. This is the first vacation I can remember taking that was truly free of any disappointments, minor or major, and the Fairmont played a HUGE role in the success of our trip.
The staff at Sugar Cane can not do enough for you.
Large rooms are perfect and the scenery is fantastic.
Pool is large and has a bar next to it for convenience and the staff will bring you your drinks if you prefer.
All meals are delicious (tuna sandwhich for lunch is amazing)
I've been a lot of places in the world and Sugar Cane Club Hotel and Spa is in my top 3 for sure.
staff that stood out are Neil, Roy and Ricardo who are bartenders and would bend over backwards to help you. Julie on the front desk who is a delight.

We just returned from a wonderful 10 night stay at Little Good Harbour and we're already planning our next visit! The hotel is set in a quiet location on the West coast. The hotel is split into a number of cottages/apartments, all with a self catering option and all spacious, clean and very stylishly decorated. All properties come with terraces (many with sea views) which are great for watching the wildlife surrounding the apartments. We went for a standard cottage which was very nice, but the larger villas look really beautiful and would be ideal if you are travelling with a group/family. Staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and did their utmost to make us feel at home. The hotel felt very peaceful and we were lucky enough to have the swimming pool to ourselves on many occasions during our stay. The only thing to point out is that I would recommend car hire if you want to take full advantage (and due to the quiet location). We hired a jeep fairly inexpensively and went off exploring the island each day - there's quite a lot to see and given that it's fairly small, we were able to cover a lot of it easily, such as the Silver Sands beach in the south, the wildlife reserve and Bathsheba on the east coast. Finally although we tried a lot of restaurants on the island during our stay, we liked the 'Fish Pot' best - the lunch menu is particularly good and you can't beat the location right on the beach. On the whole, this is a great hotel that I would not hesitate to recommend!
