Exceptional service, (the hotel manager even personally delivered our luggage to our rooms), and everyone from the front counter staff to the pizzeria staff were phenomenal. The entire hotel was well appointed, modern and clean. We were only there for 1 night for a wedding next door, but will definitely be back, and I can not recommend them enough. A

Location, Location, Location! Just look at the view and you don’t have to go anywhere. It’s a great place to relax and recuperate after a day of touring around. The staff are helpful and kind. The breakfasts are wonderful.

Amazing views and good public transport to get around the area. Lovely, helpful staff. Good restaurant. Very pleasant stay and would recommend. Well worth a trip to Il Padrino Restarant in Forza d’Agro village - local bus goes there. Unusual pool hours - not open until 11:00 am. Next door hotel service area quite noisy - disposing of bottles at 06:45 am.

Lovely friendly hotel
The hotel was very welcoming and the staff are extremely helpful. It is a little out of town so having a car is useful but the hotel has a courtesy bus and they are more than happy to take guests into Taormina or to the beach. The pool area is clean and well maintained. The pool is quite deep and not particularly good for children but there weren't any staying when we were there. The gardens are well laid out and there are several small areas with sun beds so we were able to find somewhere quite private to relax and sun bathe. The rooms were very clean and nicely decorated. We had to ask for assistance setting the temperature of the air conditioning and once this was done the room stayed pleasantly cool. Our room had a balcony with amazing views over the sea and down the coast. There was a wide choice at breakfast and plenty of it.

This hotel was everything i wanted! My room was so dreamy with the most beautiful view to the ocean. Everyone were so nice and helpful. I really think it was the most beautiful room with view i ever had. The room is a walk to tr beach but they have shuttles to more popular beaches. The only cons are that the internet is not super fast and the air conditioner is not super strong. Theyboth working though and for this price i think they did amazing job.

Location, location, location. Room with excellent view over the bay. Nice balcony and room itself was fine. Bathroom was a little disappointing with mould etc. in the shower and a smelly floor drain - quickly fixed by pouring some water in to re-establish the u-bend seal. Nice pool and terrace. Did not try the restaurant as we arrived too late. Not sure how effective the air con is, however, it was not too hot during our stay.

Hotel Cystal Sea, Taormina
Lovely Hotel overall. Clean rooms, lovely staff. View over Toarmina has to be seen to be believed. Breakfast was a of a very good quality, and loads to chose from. Only down sides are that you need a vehicle as its very isolated, even the beach is a 20 minute walk down some very steep climbs. The restaurants evening choice can be a bit limiting, so eating out for dinner is required. Parking is limited at busy times, yet you can park down on teh acccess road. Be warned if you have a vehicle and need to refuel before heading back to Catania, DO NOT refuel at the Q8 garage in Letojenni. We got charged 1.92 Euro per litre (petrol) as we went into one of two pumps, the guy had the nozzle in the filler before i had got around to talk to him, i saw 1.92 Euro on the pump and questioned him why it was not a per advertised on the board at 1.49 Euro, his reply was "no understand", well its a scam. They charge nearly 50 cent a liter more to refuel you car. Only negative on a great time.

Great hotel, extreme hospitality!
When we arrived, we were upgraded to a lovely room with full sea view! The concierge couldn't do enough for us! He even called the hotel next door to find out if there was entertainment that night (and there was). There is no entertainment at night here. There is a pool bar and a restaurant on site. We ate here 2 nights in a row. Breakfast was included in the room price. The food is very good. The only thing that upset me greatly was the dining room manager who constantly barked orders at his staff, seemingly berating them at every turn. They were actually running back and forth to the kitchen - all of them! They were like spinning tops. It was continuous and the staff didn't look happy and he didn't look happy! Consequently, it seemed to take over one's focus as all eyes were trained on him and the poor staff who tried to please. It was very disruptive to those dining. He was even there at breakfast! He was always running around and was upset that we had sat at a table for 8 as we didn't see a table for 2 at the end of the breakfast room. We were quickly transferred to it by him! When we didn't have a reservation for dinner one night, he threw his arms up in the air in an exasperated manner which upset us. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel next door the next evening. Were it not for the little man in the dining room, the hotel would have been perfect!

Excellent view of the ocean
The hotel was accessible if you had a car. The rooms were comfortable but our bathroom had some evidence of mould in the tub grouting. Parking was a bit problematic as there was little space available. The staff were courteous and helpful. A very good breakfast was provided and the hotel had a varied dinner menu. Overall a positive experience.

The staff are excellent as is the food. The setting is beautiful overlooking the Med. The main problem is that you can't walk anywhere and there is no entertainment at the hotel. The main bar wasn't open at all, so drinks after dinner was not an option. There was a free shuttle service either to Taormina or Letojanni however the last pick up was 18:00 so you were left to get a bus or taxi if you wanted to stay later. The pool was only open between 11:00-18:00. The showers were in poor condition and need updating

We stayed here for 2 weeks in September and it was an OK hotel. Fabulous location in the countryside only 5 km from Taoramina, with the most spectacular views of the sea. Nice and quiet too. We got the bus everywhere, only 30 euro for a weekly ticket and you really get to see the lovely villages in the area. There is a shuttle bus at the hotel but it only runs 2 or 3 times a day, and if you ask if they could pick you up or drop you off at a different time, they simply say no!! The hotel next door is called Baia Taormina, much bigger than Crystal Sea but still a 4 Star. We noticed their shuttle running at least every hour and also late at night, so will probably stay there next time if we come back to this area. The swimming pool area is lovely and the only complaint I would have is that one day when I ordered drinks they wanted to give me a plastic glass. Yet the day before I had a glass one.(different staff member). Every day I saw other guests with their drinks in a glass . We didn't have the drink in the plastic glass and after that always went to Baia Taormina for an aperitif as well as a nightcap when we got back in the evenings. When we were leaving we had a late flight and they gave us another room to use for the day, which was brilliant. Some of the staff are great, but some aren't! One day the air con broke down so I went to reception and asked if I could borrow a fan. The man on reception asked if I had tried opening the windows !!!! Very sarcastic.

A well maintained budget hotel ... with a view.
This hotel is obviously older, but has been well maintained and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Every room had a balcony, and the views were wonderful. The hotel pool was small and pleasant and the restaurant had good food. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of things to choose from. Finding the hotel was a little difficult, you can't trust your GPS or you'll end up on top of a mountain. Look for signs. It is right next to a much larger resort style hotel.

Good hotel but potential to be so much better!
Good hotel with potential of being great. Pool and views from bar and restaurant breath taking! Beautiful. Close enough to hustle and bustle but far enough away to be very quiet and relaxing. Property needs a little care and attention as few areas not well maintained ( pool tiles, shower door not closing , towel rail hanging off etc )

Small and friendly hotel in a great location, a short drive or bus away from the hustle and bustle of Taormina. Friendly and helpful English speaking staff, always pleasant and there to help with any queries you have. Only 2 criticisms, hotel should offer an all inclusive option as it will work out far too expensive to eat at the hotel every night at €25 a night plus drinks. And the pool could do with being a little bigger, other than that a great week spent at The Hotel Crystal Sea. And that view is worth a stay there alone!

Breathtaking views!
Overall we had a wonderful experience! Staff is very welcoming and kind when helping visitors. Food was enjoyable, breakfast is simple but filling. The hotel is located away from tourist areas, makes the hotel a quiet relaxing getaway. You must take the shuttle or bus to get to the town to walk around.

Hotel to far from taormina center, vehicle is needed to travel. You are unable to walk anywhere from the hotel and have to relay on a bus service to taormina. Hotel has a good shuttle service to a pebble beach, but once there you are unable to go anywhere else and have to wait for their shuttle back. The hotel staff were lovely and very helpful but location and transport system causes problems.

peaceful place to stay
I enjoyed being there , was bright and lots of open space, the twin bedroom was perfect and by having enough space in between 2 beds you could easily sleep. I will recommend to my friends.

Stayed at the end of the season, last week of October. Lovely clean hotel, friendly and helpful staff. Good size room with sea view. Decent breakfast selection and stunning view of the coast from the terrace. It has its own car park - good for those renting a car, which is probably the best way to get around this part of the world. They do offer a complimentary shuttle bus into Taormina (15 minute drive) however.

Nice Hotel and pool
All of the staff at the hotel were extremely welcoming and helpful. The hotel is a little way out of the centre of Taormina so a car would be needed if you wanted to explore. For those without transport they have a shuttle bus that can drop you off in Taormina in the morning and pick you up in the evening by prior arrangement. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel that runs into the town centre either every hour or two hours depending on the day and the timetable however they are not particulary punctual give or take 10 or 15 minutes from the time listed on the schedule. Taormina is a lovely town and it is also worth taking the bus further up to Castlemola which is a tiny village overlooking Taormina with quaint bars, cafe's and little shops. The trip to Etna is well worth it if the weather is good and to the Strombolie volcano (just be aware that if the sea is choppy the boat ride is like a rollercoaster that is out of control. On or stay we booked several excursions that we booked via the hotel, the benefit of this is that the coach collects you from the front of the hotel. Overall a really nice holiday made all the better by the hotel staff.

Really enjoyed staying at Hotel Crystal Sea. All staff were helpful, the hotel room was very spacious and clean and the view (from a sea view room) was spectacular. My only advice to those staying here is that you definitely need a car to get around. The hotel is a good 15-20 minute drive from either Forza d'Agro or Taormina and about an hour from Catania airport. Beach is within walking distance but nearest supermarket 3km down the road. Overall, very enjoyable stay and would recommend!

Fantastic hotel, really friendly staff.
I don't often do reviews, I tend to find them time consuming and often am not moved to. However, after getting back from our stay at the Crystal Sea hotel I feel I owe it to them for helping us have such a superb stay and fantastic holiday. We were greeted by the friendly staff when we arrived and it didn't stop there, if we wanted to go somewhere they helped give us advice and even phoned and spoke to the destination in Italian when we were going to a vineyard and wanted to ensure it would be open for a visit. There is a town nearby with some superb restaurants and beaches. In fact, the hotel can get you to a beach and provide transport and this was very helpful too. If you want a bit of a walk to the beach just down from the hotel it takes a few minutes but it's by a rocky cove area and that in itself had spectacular views and obviously plenty of sun! Don't hesitate! This is a fabulous hotel with great staff and a lovely offering of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Beautiful balcony
The room was very lovely and comfortable, but the highlight was really the balcony. Incredible panoramic views of the sea! We only spent one night, but we had a glass of wine out on the balcony and left the doors open to enjoy the sound of waves and the cool air. One caution - hotel is a little ways from Taormina and it's a very steep drive. Don't expect to go out for dinner, drink several glasses and then be able to safely navigate back on the winding roads!

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was clean and cleaned daily but the shower leaked and the bathroom was a little tired. the food in the restaurant was of good quality but we felt it was overpriced We had a choice of rooms offered to us when we arrived and had the promised sea view. The staff could not be faulted and all were very friendly and extremely helpful. If you have a car the location is a good one and is a good base for exploring the area..

Balcony offers great view but too bad, it is very small and never been cleaned. Need shoes for the balcony. Our suitcase was left at front desk over 30 min., unattended. They don't have an elevator to 5th floor ( our room) front desk French bilingual woman said it will be carried to our room but we had to come and get it after 40 min past. Not a service or safety oriented hotel. Hotel Baia is next door, we almost past Crystal sea hotel entrance, as Baia sight is large and visible. The entrance is shared. Quiet hotel, excellent breakfast with a killer view. Free car service to beach (return time is not up to you, arrange it with a driver before you leave the hotel) Good access to Taormina & beaches (and Castelmola , if you have a car) It was most expensive hotel we stayed of this sicily trip due to Taormina near by, but I think I can do better, I would try other hotel next time.

We had a wonderful time in Sicily, thanks in large part to the service and friendliness of the staff at the Crystal Sea hotel. The hotel had that family hotel feel you wouldn’t get at a chain or larger hotel. We could single out Angelo, Nino, Furio, and Donatella but, in fact, everyone was very attentive to our needs to ensure we were happy. Whether it was helping to plan our trips, recommending local restaurants, or even helping us attach our iPad to the HDTV, nothing was too much for them. The hotel rooms are very clean, comfortable, and air-conditioned. The rooms have a lovely sea view and it is quiet in the evening, something you wouldn’t get in central Taormina. The breakfast and restaurant were also good. The pool area was small but very secluded and peaceful; very relaxing indeed! Outwith the complimentary hotel shuttle service to Taormina, there is also a frequent, efficient, clean bus service (4.5 euros for a couple) which takes about 15-20 minutes. We used this frequently to take us back to the hotel in the late evening after having dinner in Taormina (lots of fantastic restaurants). The last stop is just beside the Crystal Sea so no worries about missing the stop. In summary, any hotel looking for a masterclass in customer service need look no further than the Crystal Sea.

Nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff
My friends and I had never been to Sicily before and picked Hotel Crystal Sea on the strength of Expedia reviews. The hotel staff were very friendly and very accommodating. Staff were happy to provide us with an early breakfast of cereal, toast and yoghurt on days when we left the hotel early to go on tours, which you can book through the hotel. They also recommended a delicious restaurant to us in Taormina. There is wide range of food at breakfast (including cake!) and we had dinner in the hotel on several occasions which was quite good. The rooms were fairly large and clean, the air con worked well but there is no kettle. The hotel is a little out of the way but the hotel has a shuttle bus which runs between 10am - 6pm into Taormina. To use the bus, you have to let reception know and they will arrange for you to be dropped into Taormina and picked up. The trip takes about 20 minutes. After 6pm, the shuttle bus no longer runs. There is a bus service from Taormina that stops near the hotel and the bus drivers let you when to get off. The bus drops you off further up the hill than the hotel - you need to walk back down, and look out for the sign Hotel Crystal Sea or Hotel Baia (which has a larger sign). The pool is quite small and very deep at one end, but is lovely to relax next to when it is hot. There are quite a few sunbeds. The hotel has an arrangement with a nearby lido at the beach which means entry is 7 euros. Recommended.

Perfect hotel for a relaxing holiday
This is a great hotel located in a quiet area. It is located up a bit of a steep road (only takes a couple of minutes to walk up) as such I wouldn't recommend it for anyone elderly unless they have a car or make special arrangements with the hotel. Service is excellent, rooms spacious with large balcony which faces the sea. The balcony gets sunlight most of the day, there is also a small swimming pool but lots of space for sun loungers. There is a beach nearby which is very quiet and not so many people, the hotel can also take you to a private beach for 7 euros each. We wanted a quiet holiday and this exactly fit the bill. There is a hotel bus to Taormina, though you need to check with reception when that is leaving, there is a regular bus service down the road, buses pretty much on time every hour. All in all absolutely nothing to complain about and a lot to praise.
