Stunning
The Granary was a perfect getaway. Really well equipped for cooking at home and a massive big bed and bedroom for when you return after a day exploring the area. Spacious and clean and lovely homemade food items and welcome pack. Very close to Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone. Would definitely recommend a visit to Dover castle! Unfortunately only met the host briefly the morning we were leaving as they had been away but everything was well communicated beforehand. Would 100% recommend a stay here for your holiday in Kent.

A delightful place to stay!
A really tranquil place to stay and a great base for exploring Kent. Robin and Hazel were the perfect hosts - welcoming and available if needed. The Granary is in their beautiful garden yet secluded. It has everything you need for a getaway - we’ve stayed four nights but wish we’d booked for longer.

Enchanted Stay
Incredible property in the most beautiful surroundings. Greeted by the owners who recommended things to do in the evening. Bungalow was immaculate with a well stocked fridge with essentials. The place was immaculate and clean. All toiletries included. But the surrounding were most beautiful. Sitting outside having a glass of wine and being at one with nature watching the wildlife and beautiful gardens. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. A very welcome retreat.

Robin was so helpful and accommodating. I booked this property for my sister and her new husbands wedding night. I asked Robin to decorate and provide a few extra touches for them and he did a fantastic job. They had a wonderful stay, said the bed was huge and comfortable and loved their time at the Granary. Thank you also for the late check out. Would most definitely recommend. Thanks for everything Robin!!

Perfect escape
We spent two nights at The Granary as we explored SE Kent on a quick getaway. The cottage is beautiful, immaculately clean, and very well equipped. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and our weekend was wonderful. This is a great place to serve as a base for exploring this part of the country...Canterbury, Dover, and Sandwich (just to name a few) are within an easy 25-30 minute drive.

Wonderful Holiday
This is a great place to spend a week's holiday in Kent. The Granery is in fact two buildings - the main building is the living area and the other building is the large bedroom. The bedroom is accessed via a small passage with 3 steps. On arrival we were greeted with the most comprehensive welcome pack. Everything from bread, butter, homemade jam and marmalade, fruit, milk, yogurts and tea, coffee and cereal and wine. The place was spotless and the bedroom had an enormous and comfortable bed and plenty of wardrobes. The village is in the high weald are of Kent and there is easy access to all the major English Heritage and National Trust site in Kent and East Sussex. Had a great holiday and would recommend The Granary to anyone wishing to spend time in this area.

Just the most charming and captivating English village experience. The house was perfectly appointed with a very delightful host and hostess. Faultless cottage and experience
The cottage and surroundings are so lovely with every care taken by Robin and Hazel to ensure high quality furnishings and fittings throughout. The conjoined parts of the cottage are roomy and warm and welcoming and clean and comfortable. Beautifully arranged fresh flowers from the garden were there along with very carefully selected and thoughtful welcome foods and very nice quality toiletries and bedding and towels. Every element of the cottage has been thought through and, as others have said, it is one of the nicest cottages it is possible to stay in. We were walking several stages of the north downs way, and to the coast, to and from the door, and the cottage was perfect in every way. The village is served by good bus services, with a bit of planning and thought, to enable a happy car free experience for us.

This cottage is a perfect base for exploring southern Kent. The cottage is made up of a clever welding of two farm buildings together, with lovely rustic decor combined with modern facilities. There is an excellent pub and shop within walking distance and main towns like Folkestone and Dover are a short drive away. We only met the owners once but they were very welcoming and friendly. I would not hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone planning to stay in the area.

Wonderful Country Respite Minutes from London, etc.
My Wife and I discovered this VRBO and could not be more grateful or more pleased with EVERYTHING. We still are celebrating our 28th Wedding Anniversary (officially it was last Saturday.) AND, there is a village near and dear to my Wife's Family that neither of us had ever visited; but stayed at "The Granary" because it was within a reasonable distance to that village. It's also minutes from Historic Canterbury (Chaucer's Tales), Folkstone and Dover!!! We arrived LATE on Friday night as we met new friends in that Village nearby and just couldn't leave them alone at the Pub (The Gardner's Arms in Higham); and then had a late Dinner in Folkstone at The Bouverie Tap (additional reviews for BOTH to come.) We were as the English say, "Shattered", "bone tired". Our HOME for YESTERDAY AND TODAY was a converted Granary (and my saying that simply doesn't give it, its's proper due! Robin and his Wife, Hazel, set us up with a bowl full of fresh bananas, green and red grapes, strawberries ('tis the season) , apples and tangerines. The bread box had a full loave of fresh brown bread, there was coffee, homemade orange marmalade, yogurt, orange juice, milk, COFFEE, TEA, butter, etc. WE HAD IT MADE FOR BREAKFAST THIS MORNING!!! Oh yes, there were fresh mushrooms and tomatoes in the fridge (and the gentlemen next door has free range eggs available too!!! Our accommodations are INCREDIBLE!!! SO MUCH ROOM!!! A Shower and a BATH!!! Most importantly for us (as we were between hotels in a fortnight (2 week) stay, A WASHER & A CLOTHES DRYER!!! We slept a bit late; but after breakfast and before heading out to Dover and then to Canterbury, we chatted with Hazel (interrupting her gardening) and Robin. We have used VRBO several times in Florida, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. Although not the tropical weather, this HOME was FANTASTIC!!! Thank you Hazel and Robin for your hospitality and warmth!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Granary. As others have said it is spacious and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Robin and Hazel are generous and thoughtful hosts. We found we could walk from the door onto the North Downs and walked the Elham Valley Way from Hythe to Canterbury using the excellent bus service. We would love to return.

Beautiful Property. Great Location. Lovely Owners
The Granary is a beautiful property standing in the amazing gardens of the owners’ property. Robin and Hazel are clearly a lovely couple. They came to greet me when I arrived and could not have made me feel more welcome. There was so much nice food in the fridge plus fruit on the table that I regretted going to a supermarket in advance! I was due to stay for the week before going to round 3 of The Open at Sandwich. I was then going to drive 300 miles north to go home. When they heard about my plans they offered to let me stay an extra night free of charge! The Granary has everything you would need for comfort and it’s very cleverly designed. The kitchen is light & airy, there’s a choice of a bath or shower in the bathroom , WIFI, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV, oven etc. all available. There’s a very private small balcony leading off from the bedroom. There’s also a little area outside the front door where you can sit & admire their incredible garden. The location feels very rural but it’s deceptive! Within a 5 mile radius, you have The Channel Tunnel Terminal at Folkestone, access to the M20 which leads onto the M25 London orbital & the coastal town of Hythe. There’s also easy access to places like Dover, Deal, Romney Marsh and Whitstable. One of the neighbours’ cats (Basil) sometimes comes to visit but knows the limits (he won’t enter the property) but, if you like cats, he’ll come up to say hello! Overall, absolutely outstanding and I really want to return! Thanks! Mark

We booked The Granary for the night before boarding a cruise out of Dover. It's now top of our list for the next trip back. Hazel and Robin are delightful hosts and their property reflects their love of place It's a peaceful retreat, surrounded by a lovely garden. It had everything we needed from a full kitchen to a much needed washer and dryer. We didn't have a chance to scoop up fresh eggs from next door, but that's on the list for the next trip too!

Homely in a great area
This pair of conjoined wood-clad buildings might seem dinky from the outside but open up to a spacious, comfortable, homely, super clean interior comprising a comfy living room, a bedroom with a vast sumptuous bed, a bathroom with a shower and tub and a well equipped kitchen graced with delicious initial supplies. The owners were relaxed and charming. We found it the perfect base for exploring the surrounding area of outstanding natural beauty, the coastal path and nearby canal, the RSPB reserve at Dungeness, and the handsome town of Rye. Our weekend break was a huge tonic. We can’t wait to go back.

What a little Gem!
Set in a beautiful garden, the pretty Granary has absolutely everything you need. A huge comfy bed in a lovely big bedroom, a large living area with comfortable furniture, well equipped kitchen and a neat bathroom. It is close enough to the ferry/tunnel to make it a great stop over point, but far enough away from the noise and traffic of Dover or Folkstone. Robin and Hazel are friendly hosts, chatty but not intrusive. Perfect! Will definitely stay here again when we come this way.

A Secret Garden
Perfection. That’s how I would describe our stay at The Granary. Everything was more wonderful than I imagined or that the photos online indicated. First of all, this is a really roomy cottage. The owners, Hazel and Robin, did an extraordinary job joining and repurposing two out-buildings behind their home. The interior decor is tasteful and inviting. The bed is huge and comfortable and well-appointed and there is a lovely soaking tub in the bathroom. The kitchen is stocked with every item needed for self-catering, as well as staples and a few treats. But the part I loved most was the beautifully well-maintained garden that wrapped around our little home giving it a feeling of intimacy and absolute privacy. It was everything an English country garden should be and more. From cunningly espaliered pear trees to wild riots of thistle and blackberry, the garden offered a constantly changing view. We used The Granary to explore Kent’s natural and historical offerings, but if I was a Londoner, I would use The Granary as a destination in itself. There are lots of great walks in the area for exploration of the countryside and villages.

A real gem
What a find the Granary is. A really beautiful little place, with all your home comforts, quite a gem & worth every 5* review . We recieved a very warm welcome from Robin, Hazel & Rusper the cat (he's a real charmer ) to this lovely ,comfortable & cosy little place in the garden of their home. The setting is delightful, very peaceful, a wonderful garden ,which Robin & Hazel let us sit in & enjoy. The only sounds we heard were the wild birds, chickens next door where you can get fresh eggs & on occassion the local church bell. The welcome pack provided is substantial including the usual milk & bread plus extras which included homemade jam & marmalade, choice of spread, fresh coffee & lots more. Lovely bath /shower & cleaning products along with all the linen you require is also included. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you could wish for equipment wise plus several store cupboard items too. The bed is really comfortable & the bedroom is large & airy .The weather was very hot during our stay but the Granary was just the right temperature so you never felt too hot or cold & we slept really well. The Granary is well positioned so it's easy to get to many of the local attractions like the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, Dover ,Deal & Warmer Castles, Port Lyme & Folkestone to name just a few . Two nights really wasn't enough & went by far too quickly but we intend to return to see our wonderful hosts & this very special place next year.
