Nice hotel in great location with great staff.
It is a very old building with modern comforts. It was clean. Breakfast was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I needed some flexibility when I checked out, and the manager was eager to accommodate me. The location is excellent; a short walk to many of the great places in Florence. I will go there again.

Location is perfecto!
We arrived at the Florence train station & had any easy, yet bumpy walk along the cobble stone roads, to the hotel. We were warmly greeted upon entering the hotel. Checkin was quick & efficient. Our room was perfect for 2 people. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a good size, with a great shower with plenty of water pressure & no shortage of hot water. The best part of our room was the terrace, which doubled our living space! Every day we would go to the Market Centrale & buy our lunch. We would get tomatoes, olives, smoked cheeses, like mozarella & some meats, like salami Stagianato. In the morning we would walk around Florence, then come back to our room, have a shower & sit on the terrace in the sun, with our lunch & a lovely Gin & Tonic! After lunch we would head out again to see more of Florence & soak in the sights and sounds. Florence is a great city to visit. Il Guelfo Bianco is a great hotel to stay while in Florence.

Lovely hotel in a convenient location
My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights recently during our vacation in Italy. The hotel is very convenient to major tourist attractions and also to the main railway station. We had a very comfortable and quiet room with a lovely outlook over a leafy courtyard. All in all we were very happy with our stay

We found the hotel perfect for our 4 night stay in Florence, the staff were extremely friendly, the location was ideal as a base for getting around, we ate one evening in the hotel and although menu was limited the food was excellent. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to others.

Wonderful Hotel
We stayed 6 nights this July (2014) and were extremely happy with everything. Great location, wonderful staff, great breakfast, very quiet, and staff even found extra umbrellas when we were late out on a rainy morning. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We were a retired couple on vacation traveling by train, a 15 minuite walk for us to the central tain station. Edie and Dale

Perfect location, great staff
The staff, the service, the room, the bed and the location were terrific. It was very hot so the airconditioning was also greatly appreciated. Breakfast was yummy and fresh.... and the courtyard a nice addition for breakfast dining. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of all the main sites and great restaurants...we had a ball and would very much recommend this hotel to other travellers!

Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco is a lovely independent hotel situated within an easy walt from Firenze SMN train station. It is centrally located and is a great base to walk to the city's main attractions. Hotel staff are very nice and accommodating, our room kept very clean & tidy for us.

Lovely rooms with high ceilings but not able to turn down the heating so unless wanted to leave windows open all day, the room was unbearably stuffy.

A great location for an arts- intensive visit to F
Small and unassuming exterior belies the pleasant staff, excellent breakfasts and thoughtfully furnished rooms. Rates are quite reasonable and accessibility of major sites in central Florence is ideal. Would stay there again.

Fantastic hotel with a great location
Hotel has great character and the room was beautifully decorated. Staff were always on hand and extremely helpful, even booking trips and restaurants for us. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend. Not a soulless building or characterless room like some hotels we saw! Added bonus of a bistro attached too - ranked highly.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, and has charm and character. The location is excellent. Very convenient to many major attractions. The breakfast was delicious. Staff was helpful and professional. Bed was very comfortable, good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the bathroom, which was large and comfortable. We stayed in a junior suite (room 204), and the bathroom had a double sink, tub and shower. No view, but large windows that let in the fresh air. Good size rooms. Very quiet with lovely decor. Would absolutely stay there again.

We couldnt have asked for a better location to stay in Florence. Walking distance to EVERYTHING! The staff is outstanding. All of them! They are all passionate about superior hospitality. The decor is funky (old furnishings with modern art). The breakfast spread is fresh/organic and the cafe associated with the hotel was delicious. They have their act together at Il Guelfo Bianco

Great Hotel in Perfect Location
Out of the three hotels we stayed at in Italy this was our favorite. The rooms were huge compared to the others and the bathrooms were also big. The staff gave us great suggestions for places to eat and booked all our tours and tickets that we needed. They had free wi-fi and actually had all the charger connectors in the room for us. We were able to charge our tablet and our phones with their chargers. This hotel sits only 2 or 3 blocks from the Duomo but is perfectly quiet at night when you need to sleep. We were easily able to walk to everything that we needed - including the train station. If we are lucky enough to return to Florence we will most definitely stay at this hotel. Thank you for a fantastic time!

Luxurious hotel close to downtown Florence
Stayed here 3 nights during the final days of a two week vacation to Europe with my husband and another couple. We arrived a few hours prior to check in due to train schedule but were able to check in to our rooms early with no problem. Our rooms had been upgraded due to availability issues so we were pleasantly surprised by the change. The day and night staff were very friendly, spoke perfect English and made us feel welcome during the entire stay.

Nice hotel, downtown, everything walking distance.
From the min we walked in we were greeted by Dario and he was most pleasant and spoke great English. He was extremely helpful and wanted to make us comfortable. Our room was spectacular and very large. Two long twins together to make one large king with two small pull out beds. The beds could have been more comfortable but all in all we had 5 people and the room was spacious, clean and convenient. It was 2-3 blocks from the cathedral and 5-10 min walk from everything. I would stay here in a second. Breakfast is included. Spent two nights. There is no parking as its in the historic district and you must pay $33.50 euro each day for the garage. This was expected.

Lovely centrally located hotel
What a great hotel in a great city, the rooms were big and superb. The 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed in one room. The hotel in centrally located (don't worry what it looks like from the outside). The hotel inside has lovely details and the continental buffet breakfast was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The staff were helpful and friendly. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location; great staff
This hotel is located right down the street from the Duomo and just a short walk from the train station. Our room was huge (a king bed with a twin for our daughter) and absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous antique carved wood ceiling. Breakfast is served in a little interior courtyard and the staff (expecially Giulia) was incredibly accommodating. They helped us with reservations for the Accademia and the Uffizi so we avoided the lines, and their recommendations for dinner were absolutely amazing!

Everything you need in the heart of Florence
This is a great little hotel. When my husband, eight year-old son and I arrived, jet-lagged, from the US, the staff was very kind and friendly. Our room was ready right away and they even upgraded us to a junior suite because the room I had booked was too small for all three of us. The room was huge and comfortable, with a high coffered ceiling and air-conditioning. My favorite thing about the hotel, though, was the breakfast buffet. I didn't realize until I went on to travel in Tuscany and Rome how special it truly was. The staff prepared coffee, tea or hot chocolate to order, and the buffet had hard-boiled eggs, prosciutto and mortadella, cheeses, and excellent watermelon and cantaloupe in addition to breads and pastries, yogurt and granola. It was great for people with heartier appetites or those trying to avoid wheat or sugar (really difficult in Italy). The breads and pastries were fresh and delicious, not packaged. I'd highly recommend the hotel for families and would be happy to return.

A room with a view (and a fresco too)
We loved loved loved Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco!!! We truly did! We came as a family; 2 parents and 2 adult children, and the room we were allocated, no kidding, took our breath away...there was a fresco on the ceiling!!! Who could not be enchanted with that? In addition to the fresco, the room was beautifully furnished as well as very spacious. The bathroom was perfect, and joy oh joy, there was a bath. The artwork in our room and throughout the hotel was wonderful - so impressively collected and curated. Ideally located for us first-time-Florentines, we discovered that Hotel Il Guelfo Bianco was right in the heart of 'Firenze.' We loved opening up our shutters in the morning and looking out on the busy, 'hummy' street below all the while fancifully pretending the hotel was our house! Ah if only... But back to reviewing, breakfast was included in our tarrif, and was stunning with much of the menu coming from local farms. And the staff were very friendly and helpful, arranging our museum tickets for us (which was wonderful because we hadn't given any of that a thought and had left everything to the last minute), dinner reservations, and even our fabulous iBike Florence Tour. Aaah Firenze...art, culture, sculpture, history, bicycles, food, wine...with a fabulous hotel to explore it all from - will we return? Senza dubbio!

Great hotel with lots of charm in a great location
My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights in October. We found it to be clean and comfortable, with an excellent staff. The hotel itself is charming, with lots of interesting artwork. Our room was on the second floor, and was larger than I expected. There was a bedroom plus a sitting room with sofa and desk. The room had a safe, a minibar which we did not use, and two TVs which we did not use. The bathroom was very nice, but the glass barrier which is used as a kind of shower door was not very large, so my husband did have a hard time showering without getting water on the floor. There was a good amount of hot water. Towels were great. Bed was comfy, and there were extra blankets in the closet, which I always appreciate. When shutters were closed there was still some street noise at night, but that might have been less if we had been on a higher floor. It was not particularly noisy, anyway. Breakfast had lots of choices, including some very nice Italian cheeses and meats, small bruschetta, good caffe latte. Staff members at this hotel were great. Front desk staff were helpful and got me ice when I needed to ice a turned ankle, and also were great with information. The staff member in charge of breakfast, Frederico, was particularly pleasant and seemed to truly enjoy his job. he helped get the mornings off on a happy note!

Great option and convenient location
The hotel was interesting with its combination of antique furniture and modern paintings. We had a great room - a suite - enormous. Despite being on a busy street our room was very, very quiet and it was nice to return to after a day with the rest of the tourists in Florence. The buffet breakfast was satisfactory to prepare us for the day ahead.

Fabulous hotel - recommended!
This was a fantastic place to stay. The location is excellent - right in the centre of Florence so that you can walk everywhere (I did not use any other form of transport in my five days!) - and the staff all speak very good English and are particularly helpful and nice. The room was beautifully cleaned every day and very comfortable. As an added bonus, the recently opened bistro attached to the hotel is a delightful place to lunch (reasonably priced and they use organic veges grown by one of the staff) and also provides the (excellent) breakfast. i will definitely use this place again if I am ever back in Florence!

A Delightful Gem!
This was the best hotel during our two-week trip in August, only regret was we were only able to stay for one night. We already made plans to stay here again on our next visit. Location Just superb, an easy 15 min stroll from the train station, we did take a taxi for 10 Euros when we arrived as our bags were getting heavy from shopping. It is located on Via Cavour, roughly at an intersect of Accademia Gallery and Palazzo Medici Ricarrdi, both are merely 2 min away. Via Cavour basically cuts through all main tourist attractions in one straight line, stroll 20 min you are already at Ponte Vecchio. Can't find the tourist info booth at FSMN because it is actually outside the station? Well, there is one 200 ft from the hotel were you can buy the Firenze card. Staff All the staff are English speaking, polite and very helpful. They helped with our late checkout request, let us stayed in the lounge to catch our breath, and arranged for taxi to the station. Breakfast Enjoy breakfast indoor or in the courtyard, good pastries with salami, prosciutto, cheese, and the organic jams (ie made from real fruits) are absolutely fantastic. Room We picked the hotel because we wanted that period look and feel to the room and it did not disappoint. The room is very clean and the air conditioning unit works like a charm, always just the right temp. The bathroom is very clean, very spacious and ultra modern . The bath tub even has a sitting area when you want to take a shower sitting down.
Room with stone arch and wood ceiling
Superb ambiance (no worry, there is an elevator)
Nice breakfast
A nice cold shower is much needed to beat the heat

Loved Il Guelfo, loved Florence!
We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Il Guelfo Bianchi. It was our first time in Florence and made more memorable by this lovely hotel. The staff was helpful and gracious; the accommodations charming. The original artworks, displayed around the hotel, were an eclectic and pleasant touch. The morning buffet was just fantastic. We got spoiled (breakfast in our Rome hotel pales in comparison). Wide fruit selection, freshly baked goodies, organic homemade jam, bruschetta and WOW their bufalo mozzerela! My niece is gluten intolerant and they were so kind as to stock a variety of gluten free bread and baked good products for her each moring! We have found that few hotels go out of their way to facilitate the dietary needs of their clients. The Il Desco restaurant, also run and owned by the Il Guelfo Bianchi, had the best Caprese insalata and balsmic vinegar that we have EVER had! We had a lovely room toward the back of the hotel that overlooked a garden. The only thing that an American might like to know ahead of time is that a king bed is really two twin beds pushed together. This seems to be the norm in Italy, but it is nice to have a heads up.

Excellent, but be selective about your room.
Excellent experience overall. This hotel has lots of character. We absolutely loved the high ceilings and exposed banisters in our room. One thing to be careful about is the room you are assigned. The first room we were assigned had a horrible view. No courtyard, no city, just a rooftop and concrete. We asked to for another room and got one with a courtyard view. This was much nicer, but you should know that when you overlook the courtyard, breakfast is served there and it can get quite noisy in the mornings. It did not bother us much, but it may bother some people. Again, excellent stay and we would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel, great location, great staff
A very nice little hotel in an excellent location in Florence, with lots of historical character. Although on a main street, there are two sets of double paned glass on each window, so the rooms are very quiet. Excellently located within a two to three block stroll of the Duomo, Academia, San Lorenzo and San Marco. The staff was extremely accommodating, making sure that some special needs were met and getting espresso for us at 5 a.m. before we headed to the airport. Il Desco off the lobby is an excellent place for lunch or a late afternoon snack with a nice glass of wine. Very good breakfast (including some meats, cheese and wonderful fresh mozarella from Il Desco) .
