“Stunning Location, Friendly Staff but off the beaten track...”
The Coral Coast beach here is awesome. The hotel is in lush grounds. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. The food was affordable and divine. There were lots of activities too but the weather on that side of the island was very rainy and all of my gear got wet and just wouldn't dry. I was in a backpacker bure and I would really recommend that. Water was leaking in and my mozzie net was full of holes and wet the whole time. So I got cold and miserable. Also had to pay to hire a towel. The hotel is a very long and difficult walk from the road and I was lucky the first time that the shuttle bus was already there. I wasn't so lucky other times and had to get a lift from a stranger...
“Just beautiful”
What an amazing place with beautiful beach and faculties we found the staff to be very helpful and food fantastic at resturant
“We LOVED Mango Bay!!!”
What a piece of paradise! Secluded, tropical beauty, comfortable open bungalos, and the friendliest people you'll ever meet! We kayak'd, snorkled, swam, sunned, and generally had a wonderful time! The chef is top notch and inventive with the food--all fresh caught and grown! If we could go back tomorrow, we would!
“Very Fun.”
Staying at Mango bay is like staying at a friends house. The staff is very friendly and helpful. THe hotel is not formal and anything you would like to do is just a conversation away. I will definitely go back.
“Small hidden gem, not the closest or fanciest, but a true Fijian experience.”
We went here for our honeymoon, but only because of the excellent Expedia rate, did some homework but in the end we went with our gut. Once there, it is a lengthy ride (about 2 hrs) so be forwarned, we were in awe of its natural beauty. By no means is it the fanciest place but very serene in its overall look. We did have a few issues with our beachfront bure (clogged shower head, missing patio chairs) but they were fixed in mere minutes. The room is rustic but elegant, no fancy imenities (coffee pot, A/C, etc) but the mosquito netting bed and outdoor shower were an awesome touch. The meals were good and well priced but at times not available and in some cases never available even though on the menu (never any desserts). Meal service is a timed thing as well, not available on your schedule but theirs. The service is what I will remember FOREVER .... especially two in specific. The activities director actually took home our laundry to be cleaned as well as taking us shopping on his day off, also one waitress literally gave my bride one of her own uniform shirts as a momento as we were not able to purchase one .... just amazing people all of them!! Finally the noise ... yes it can get loud in the evenings and it can go late, the overall crowd is one of young people (20's) but I am almost 40 and it was not really that bad. Going to bed at night could be an issue for some but all in all it was something we were able to live with, Not a 5 star by no means but worth every penny!!
“Mango Bay Resort”
We really enjoyed our stay at Mango Bay Resort! There were always plenty of things happening throughout the day. If we wanted to just relax by the pool for the day that was fine too. We stayed in a Beachfront Bure and it was lovely! The food and cocktails were divine. Before we arrived at Mango Bay we had stayed in a much more pricey resort on one of the Mamanuca islands, and we actually enjoyed Mango Bay more due to the activities available, even though the accommodation wasn't so luxurious! Only thing we were disappointed in is that the swim-up bar was not open once during our 4 night stay. The sign says 'Open by request'. We didn't feel right asking them to open it for the two of us! The outdoor shower in our Bure was a highlight - so refreshing!!
“Paradise at half the cost (with some catches)”
Amazing beach front bungelows with private outdoor showers. 2 hours bumpy drive from Nadi (slightly in the middle of no where). Avoid bungelow 6 as right next to bar and noise that goes into the night. After a few days the gloss started to wear off - brown water, grubby rooms and tired waiting staff. I also had never been on a holiday resort and found the weird feeling of everywhere you turned someone was going to charge you for something. Lots of early twenties travellers and loud sex in the middle of the night.. Does the owner have something going with the dive instructor?
“Great flashpacker that caters for couples”
Stayed here for four nights, was great value, most activities were free and the bure was very quaint right on the waterfront. The dinner meals were excellent, lunches a little less appealing after a few days stay, but nevertheless the equivalent of the 4 star resort i stayed after Mango bay. Very peaceful and quiet.
“Loved it”
Now having been here I can understand the wide reviews of bad to excellent. We are 50 and love camping, and things a bit rustic, we wanted to experience Fiji as it was in the past. Mango bay delivered that. If you need white table cloths and silverware with a manicured beach, rooms with hairdryers and lobster and steak dinners, don't come here. We loved our beach Bure (grass hut), 5 steps to the ocean and surrounded by big palm trees. The staff made this place a treasured memory, they made a big effort to have events and make mini excursions. Our Island trip was the absolute best. Snorkeling, seeing a school, meeting villagers and the bonus fishing with everyone getting a shot at reeling in tuna. It was an all day trip with all of us grinning from ear to ear upon return. Thanks Oni, Mike and Freddy
“Great staff and nice resort”
We arrived late due to transportation problems but were met with a very nice staff. All of the staff was very nice (though very competative if you decide to participate in beach volleyball). All the snorkling gear was free, which was a nice bonus. We stayed in one of the beachfront bures and it was VERY nice. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and the outdoor shower was a very nice touch. We'd definitely reccommend it here! Getting to the towns "nearby" is a bit difficult but doable. We're a couple in our late 20's, but noticed people of all ages. It generally has a 20 something aged crowd but mature travelers weren't out of place.
