“Ok motel”

“Not Impressed!”

Pros: Location. Air Conditioning. Microwave & fridge.Comfortable bed. Cons: Noisy (traffic-we were on ground floor). courtain had constant gap and could not keep closed. Carpet felt/looked dirty. Paint worn off toilet seat so it was brown in places and looked gross.

“nice room but lousy environment.”

Nice room: large with nice amenities. However, all night construction (very noisy) outside the hotel kept us awake one of the nights. Loud slamming door @ back entrance of the facility didn't help as well. Bottom line, although the hotel had no control over outside noise, it was too close to the highway and the busy (next to a large mall) environs.

“Construction”

What may have been part of the reason for the reduced cost of the room (about 50% off) was also my biggest gripe about my stay. Construction on Gateway made it almost impossible to turn left out of the hotel parking lot, and there was no convenient way to head the direction I needed. Aside from that, the stay was pretty good. Clean, quiet rooms close to food and shopping locations, and just a stone's throw from major arterials to get to any point in Eugene/Springfield needed. Some friends were visiting the same friends I was visiting and asked about a good place to stay and I recommended the same hotel (while also explaining the cons to the stay). I would recommend, and will probably end up staying at the Springfield Super 8 again, in the future.

Area recommendations

Though I didn't get there during this trip, downtown Eugene is a great place to visit, especially during the market (I think it's Saturdays).

When to go

Eugene/Springfield is great all year 'round, but is best in the spring and fall in my opinion. Winter can get a bit nippy and summer can get hot (and very, VERY humid).

What to pack

Pack for varying temperatures and weather conditions, in case you're not familiar with the Eugene/Springfield climate. In the four days I was there it was between 60 and 79 degrees during the day, breezy, sunny, cloudy, rainy, etc... basically had everything but snow.

Dining

There's a little hole-in-the-wall burger shop on main street, past 32nd, in Springfield called Giant Burger. If you're in the mood for a darn good burger, and don't mind waiting a bit for your food (it's not fast food in any aspect of the phrase), you should check it out.

“Very affordable and conveniently located”

Easy to find, and it is conveniently located for the eugene/springfield area. It's within walking distance of places to eat and entertainment.

Area recommendations

the area where this super 8 is located has plenty to do, and you get on/off of I-5 or the beltline. Between these two major highways, you can easily find points of interest in every direction.

Getting there

I flew into EUG. It's just about a ten minute drive to the super 8. Easily accessed by the beltline from the airport to I-5.

“Will Not Return”

Very unhappy with our entire experience. We paid for the hotel through Expedia but when we arrived at the hotel we were told we had to pay a $50 deposit that would be refunded upon check out. Instead of just holding a copy of our credit card, they ran the charge through (It's their policy). Although the charge was refunded, it took nearly a week. Frustrating! Not only were we unable to check in until 4pm, we were given a smoking room and we had requested a non-smoking room. All in all, not a good experience.
