Hotel messaged us and cancelled our reservation due to an emergency drove past and hotel was closed and looked like it needs pulling down as of yet no refund cannotcontact hotels.com will never use or recommend again
Arrival was like something out of the Cherobyl Diaries. The place appeared deserted. We rang a number on a card in the window and a man turned up in a hurry and checked us in. He nearly disappeared again before we had a chance to ask which way was the accommodation.
Ours was the only car in the car park, all night. The bedroom block was like a 1980s halls of residence which hadn't been decorated in the intervening years.
On the other hand the room was a decent size, clean and comfortable (although there was a powered off mini bar which defrosted itself all over the shelves below.)
All the bathroom fittings worked and there was hot water, although the shower was a bit feeble. The was a kettle and tea/coffee supplies but no milk. We bought an emergency pint from a nearby Tesco.
Slept well but rather creeped out by the fact that we didn't see another soul, or hear anyone walk down the corridor all night.
We stayed as we were visiting friends, from the outside the place looks closed dark and gloomy fenced off areas! Quite scary looking, I thought we were checking into a refugee hostel.
Double room only one cup and 2 pillows!
The room was clean but sadly lacking, met curtains dirty.
No restaurant no where to get anything, dubious people lingering in run down walk ways and corridors very sad as I lived in Epping when I was young and this was the place to stay! Not anymore
Looks abandoned, no batteries in remote, could not get bbc , no hot water ( cold shower ) fridge in room did not work , no milk for tea and coffee. On arrival place looked deserted, grass overgrown, rubbish all round the grounds , abandoned pallets and dumpy bags
Worst hotel in the UK.
1) The only employee working locked the doors to the hotel to watch the football - had to wait 20 minutes to get in to check-in
2) Toilet didn't flush
3) No hot water
4) Bugs on the floor
5) Listing stated they do breakfast - which they don't

Dated décor / great breakfast
Overall the hotel is dated, with some areas needing a deep clean and desperate need of maintenance.
That being said I think this is reflected in the price.
The full English breakfast was freshly cooked and worth the money.
The staff were lovely.

Rooms good, comfy bed. No vegetarian options for breakfast and what was there was cold or burnt. Absolutely dreadful service in the restaurant at dinner, food not as described in menu, customer service horrendous. If you want a decent nights sleep and you are eating elsewhere then is ok but avoid the food at all costs.
The staff were the best thing about the hotel. They were polite and attentive.
The hotel itself was a bit dated and worn down. The toilet leaked. There was a cobweb above the toilet. we could hear the couple next door arguing/talking loudly at 4am.
Friendly reception - we were allowed to check in 2 hours early. An outstandingly good breakfast at a very reasonable price. Easy parking. Short walk from centre of Epping. Close to M25. Comfortable quiet room, with good lighting (rare in hotel rooms) and a large sofa.
Call the hotel inspector. The Hotel needs a complete renovation. I have used this hotel for years and this will be the last visit unless they spend some money on it.

Very helpful people, food very good value for money, although could have been a little hotter
Very disapointing. Spartan 70s style. furniture and decor. Restaurant was cold. Insufficient water pressure to have a shower on the first floor. Asked to
move to ground floor but told they had no rooms available even though they were less than 1/4 full. All they needed was a load of cortinas outside.to complete the 1970s look!
There were no curtains n the room.
I couldn’t fall reception as the phone didn’t work.
I walked down to reception and informed the receptionist, he said he would check, I told him twice there were no curtains, he still needed to check to fix it.
When he opened the door of the room, he agreed there were no curtains.
I as told to wait as he will find another room.
Some 15 mins later I hit another room!
Our stay at the Bell Hotel was just one night due to a local party. Check in was easy and our room was great. Tea & coffee facilities included.
Didn't use the internet facilities, couldn't see a connection from our room.
We booked breakfast when we arrived, great value. Good local cab service. Recommend a cab from Epping Stn as it's quite a walk.
