I spent a week at The Chedi Club, Ubud. As this was my first trip to Asia and traveling alone, I really needed transportation to/from the airport. I heard horror stories of taxi experiences and that the airport was a bit hectic. My brief experience there was accurate and along came my driver who knew a lot about the area while we made the hour long trip to the resort. I felt a great sense of security with the security guard and gate at the entrance. The resort is very quiet and provides a sense that nothing else is around and yet there is a busy town right outside. The accommodations were spotless each day I was there and many items are included in the stay such as minibar, snacks, fresh organic fruit, robe, slippers, you name it. My room was the perfect size and as I lucked out with perfect weather. The bathroom was amazing, it's actually outdoors. Beautiful tub and toiletries and strong hair dryer which is rare in hotels. There is an infinity pool and because there are only 21 villas total, there was never a crowd at the pool. Fresh water is brought out with sunscreen. It really was these added touches that made the experience even better. I participated in a cooking class, almost all spa treatments, a traditional Balinese dance and dinner and even rice trekking. I loved the fact that many of the activities I wanted to do was right on property and reasonably priced. Staff is awesome and I couldn't have asked for a better place. One of the best vacations ever experienced.

We were there during the off season and of the 4 rooms available we were the only guests there. July (pronounced Julie) was about the only person we had any contact with and he was very helpful. He was punctual in getting our breakfast every and taking us into Ubud when we needed to go. Ubud is about a 10 minute drive from the villa.
The only time that the room was cleaned was when we requested it. We had to ask for fresh towels almost every day.
The room was spacious, had a patio with a nice view and A/C. The bathroom served as both the shower and bathroom, no divider. There was limiteed space for hanging your clothes.
We tried the TV a few times but the reception was poor. We weren't very interested in watching it anywhay. The wifi was sporatic and had been shut off on one occation because "It is hot and it needed to cool. Most of the time we went into the lobby to get connected and even then you had to be on the opposite side of the wall from the router, which was outside.
The breakfast was the same everyday, no variety except a choice between western and Asian.
The view from the patio where we had breakfast every morning was simply divine! There's always birds, ducks and chicken around.
The whole setting was full of character - from the walk to the bale, to the all-wooden architecture, to the bathroom. There the mosquito net over the bed was a nice practical and romantic touch. No issues with bugs - insect repellent and mosquito coils were always available.
Breakfast was nice and the variety was comprehensive.
The only thing to note is that the location of the hotel is not exactly near Ubud town. There's a free shuttle serivce from the hotel to the town, but traffic is commonly congested. We once had to wait over 1hr for a pick up from town back to the hotel. But that's probably the way things are at the town area, nothing much that the hotel could do (except perhaps to inform us of possible delay given the time of day).
The pool down near the spa was amazing and well worth the experience. We also had time to embark on the nature walk which was informative and a great way to spend some time.
Overall this experience is one of the best I have had in all of my international travels.
A big thank you to the great staff who looked after us.

The location of this hotel is wonderful because it's just down the road from the monkey forest and the incredible downtown shopping and dining of Ubud, but just far enough away that it's very quiet and peaceful. It also has a couple convenience stores right across the road from it which is ideal.
The hotel itself is very charming and small with thoughtfully appointed rooms and a top notch gracious staff who will do whatever you need to make your stay comfortable and easy. We traveled to several other hotels on our trip and never again had such wonderful service or helpful and educated staff to take care of us. We really missed it after we relocated! The breakfast service is also one of the most wonderful experiences we've had in Bali. They set it all up for you in your private patio on a beautiful table by trickling water, and it was deliciously prepared. Just lovely over all.
There was one thing I think they could greatly improve and it is their Wifi connection. It hardly worked anywhere, and when the signal would catch, the download speed was as slow as a turtle. If you need to do research or work from your computer while traveling, you would not be able to from this hotel.
Also, their air conditioning units are extremely old and couldn't do a good job drying out the air in our room. Our room and the bed felt kind of moist and damp which took some getting used to. Overall it's a wonderful place we would stay at again but for a longer time.
