Central

Posted 27-Jul-2015
We enjoyed our stay .only thing was shape of hotel meant you take lift to 2nd floor walk to another lift to take you to 3rd and 4th floors more of an inconvenience than problem. It's location is central and meant you could park car up and walk unless you were travelling outside letterkenny.

No parking spaces when we arrived. Booked smoking room a week in advance and was tpld they hadnt got any free on arrival. Offered pounds to euro rate of 1.20 and then tried to say £70 would only get me €72. Also discovered yellow stain on the duvet when the cover came off it.

Central for touring the north west of Ireland.

Pros: Location,relaxing,helpful staff.
Cons: With a possible refurbishment there are signs of a little wear and tear but nothing to get uptight about.
Location: Letterkenny.s location makes visiting any part of Donegal relatively easy. Keep your fingers crossed for the weather and there are plenty of things
We last visited Gallaghers hotel about 15 years ago and the changes are amazing. It is now a modern glass fronted building with good dining and bar facilities. The hotel car park was ideal as Letterkenny has a lot of metered car parking. All in all a very enjoyable stay. The staff mentioned plans for a hotel refurbishment in the near future which can only make things better. I was talking to the barman about how the hotel had changed so much,he then took us through a set of doors and lo and behold the old bar exactly as we remember it .A nice surprise.

Best night sleep

Posted 20-Jun-2015
Those black out curtains are amazing, best nights sleep I have had so far in Ireland. Hotel is showing her age but is comfortable, clean & room was large. good location. Car parking slightly challenging to find but when you think about it there really is only one place for it, behind the building up that little street.

Good location

Pros: Staff very friendly and food good. Walking distance from bus station
Location: I'm sure if we had a car we could see more. I would not stop in this town for as long as I did
Arrived at hotel at 2:45. Will not let you check in until 3. Once in the room and unpacked a few things found safe was not working a remote for tv not working. We arrived on a Friday and left on a Monday hotel staff gave us directions to the tourist information only to get there and find it is closed on the weekend,it was a good 20 minute walk. It was hard to book tours on letterkenny.

Worth the effort to find

Posted 04-May-2015 on Hotels
Once found, the hotel met expectations. (The street address provided did not match the SatNav's numbering!) Offstreet parking was plentiful, when located (up a narrow alley to the left, in behind the hotel). Reception staff were very helpful, guiding us by phone, and transferring our bags. A lift took us upstairs. The bar, dining and breakfast rooms were pleasant. We had drinks and a light dinner in the hotel. Service was prompt. The buffet breakfast, both hot and continental, was plentiful. The room with twin beds was spacious and well-equipped, as was the ensuite bathroom, and the decor most attractive. The only negative concerned the neighbourhood, having mistaken the car park and ventured into a dark hole! Overall, helpful staff and a pleasantroom more than compensated.
