“Decent good value place to stay”
There are several 'business' style hotels in Plymouth and I have stayed in all of them at least once. Of them all, this is the only one where I would willingly return. It isn't hugely fashionable, it doesn't have a fitness centre or pool, and it is on the basic side. But the lobby bar is a good place to sit and the staff are very professional. While that doesn't sound like a recommendation, it is a genuine compliment. Compared to one of its rivals in particular where the reviews were so bad I thought they must be exaggerated yet found they were actually not as vehement as they should have been this place does a good solid job. Not everything was perfect last time we stayed there (the quilts had faint but nasty looking stains), but consistently OK. Parking is a nightmare but try using the smaller (lower level) Charles Square park, seldom full and costs £10 for 24 hours, payable by text or phone. Then you can go in and out as many times as you need, though it shuts at 11. Unlike the nearest similar hotel (where parking is in the supermarket) or the worst of its competitors where the parking is expensive, possibly dangerous and extremely unreliable (I got blocked in, in a supposedly managed car park and couldn't get in the underground park because they had a wedding on.) Didn't use the restaurant but there are many decent places to eat within walking distance. Value for money, and fine for a few nights.
“very comfortable hotel,”
Very nice hotel, good location to the University if visiting.
“Not Great”
For a three star hotel, I wasn't very impressed. There were no extras at all in the bathroom (eg shower cap, cotton wool) which you need when only staying overnight. I asked for them and was told "we don't do them". The batteries had gone in the remote control, so I couldn't watch the TV, the quality of the duvet and pillows was well below par. It also took me a long time to get served at the bar and three people who were after me were served first. Also there were no herbal teas in the bedroom. On the plus side, the room was clean and quiet and checking in and out was swift. Also the receptionists were helpful and gave me great information about local buses to get around.
“Great hotel in central location”
Very satisfied
“right price, good quality”
Close to the bus station and shopping center. The area around the hotel seemed to be OK. The room was big enough, clean and well presented. The bathroom a bit small, but in good condition. Furniture more o less OK,modern however one of the chairs was falling apart. In general terms a good hotel.
“what you would expect”
All good - very quick check in, nice room, good breakfast, accomodating of twin toddlers. Only exception is that it wasn't made clear that you had to pay for parking. Hotel were happy to give voucher for parking but we didn't know until we had parked in multi storey and had checked in. Also one of the travel cot matresses was not flat and only found this out in the morning after one baby hadn't settled and had come into our bed for the night.
“Ordinary everyday city hotels .... certainly not exceptional”
Was down in Plymouth for a week and decided to try this hotel. Overall it is value for money I guess, but in no way does it stand out, it's not exceptional (their catch phrase) except perhaps in being ordinary The rooms are clean, the food is ok (standard modern gastro pub menu) , the staff are all polite, but perhaps not efficient or as effective as they could for this grade of hotel. it's a great location for business or travel So if you are after a hotel that has all the basics and a largely hassle free stay then this hotel is fine - if you are after something exceptional you might want to look elsewhere
“happy timd”
only problem you have to work out the car park which is next door and is shared with a bingo club so no spaces between 7 and 9.
“Great place shame about noisy guests”
This was our 3rd visit to jury's,check in easy n quick. Room ok apart from a stinky cot being left in there,no idea why room only booked for 2 adults. Shower nice and powerful, nice size tv with freeview channels. Bed comfy and temperature of room easily controlled with air con. Only thing that let our stay down was room next door shouting and banging at 430am.
“The best of the business hotels”
Of the three branded business class hotels in central Plymouth the Jury's Inn is the only one that I have returned to. While there are few frills and service is enthusiastic rather than excellent it is clean and reliable. Parking is a nightmare but that is about my only criticism. Can't speak for the restaurant but the bar is comfortable enough. Until somebody provides Plymouth with the quality hotel it deserves we will continue to stay there.
