“Lovely, Comfy, Yummy....& very Accomodating!”
We stayed in a picturesque carriage house which was decorated immaculately. The bed was so comfortable & at night you couldn't hear a sound, but you could watch the shadows of the weeping willow sweep across the window. Breakfast was scrumptious! I made a waffle every morning with butter, syrup, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries & pecans on top! My husband & I also had eggs, coffee & tea....They call this a continental breakfast. Anytime we had anywhere to go, a driver took us to the riverfront, downtown & to the wedding we were in Detroit to attend. All the drivers were upbeat, informative and very attentive. The girl at the desk guided my son to our room at 5:00 a.m. in order to pick up our grandchildren that had spent the night. Another one helped me find a church on Sunday morning. I can't say enough good things about this hotel. I think it is the sweetest place at which I have ever stayed!
“Charming with great personal service”
We chose the Inn on Ferry Street both for its character and its location to Wayne State College. The staff was very dedicated and was very helpful with our personal requests. The hotel has lots of old world charm, nice clean room/s and one of the best breakfast layouts we have seen in awhile. They provide a 'business office' a nice little office you can use to go online and print out your boarding pass or whatever. The only little challenge is there sign at the front lawn. Very little and hard to see driving down the road. We suggested something more stand out but that did not seem to fly.... We will return in the future for visits, and recommend to all.
“Look forward to returning”
The Inn is walking distanc to the Detroit Art Institute and the free shuttle service makes a variety of venues very accessible. The historic arts and craft ambience and great service makes for a great stay.
“An oasis in mid-town Detroit”
Stayed here for 3 nights. Great location in mid-town Detroit, just north of the Institute of Artsand in a beautiful neighbourhood. Almost like being in our room at home with a sleigh bed, large windows and a homey feel. Staff were very pleasant. Walked ~20 blocks from here at night and felt very safe. Wouldn't stay facing John R Drive again - a bit noisy.
“Detroit is "sophistication on the map"”
Every American City should copy this hotel platform. A great way to preserve heritage and a great way to revitalize neighborhoods. This is a B&B in overdrive!!!! Keep up the great work on Ferry Street.
“Dynamite Detroit historical treasure”
The Inn is the absolute best place to stay while visiting Detroit. It is conveniently located in Midtown just a block from Detroit thoroughfare Woodward Ave. Snuggled into a fabulously restored Wayne State neighborhood, the Inn's buildings are convenient and gorgeous. The Detroit Institute of Arts is 2 blocks away as well as the Scarab Club, Contemporary Art Gallery, and more awesome historical buildings. The Ferry neighborhood is well preserved and we felt extremely safe strolling the streets day or night. The rooms are extremely clean and tidy and considerably large. They are styled appropriately with new period appropriate furnishings and paint choices. The bathroom is extremely spacious with a huge tub, great shower head--- clean, clean, clean!! Our top floor room had three walls of windows granting us a view of beautiful architecture across the street and galivanting squirrels. Each morning a fresh breakfast feast (buffet) is laid with scrambled eggs, berries, melons, apples, bananas, cereal, pastries, breads and bagels, yogurt, 3 kinds of juice, coffee, tea---the list goes on and on! If you are going to Detroit and you want a positive experience, stay at the INN ON FERRY STREET. You will be safe, satiated and delighted by this establishment. I am still bowled-over by our magical 4 night experience in Detroit. One last thing, the various staff is knowledgeable about city sites, eats, and history. Pick their brains for good ideas.
“An architectural gem in a great location”
I too am part of the Inn on Ferry Street's fan club. This was my third stay and each time has been in a different old mansion ( six total buildings and a seventh is on the way). The location is great, midtown Detroit near Wayne State and the main library. It is quiet at night and there is a parking lot off the street. I didn't give it 5 stars because there are no elevators as these are historic landmarks. You should know when you check in that there are bellman to walk you to your room if needed and help with bags. Each room is different and even though I had to climb 3 flights of stairs, I will be back.
“unique charm”
The Inn on Ferry is a great alternative to just a hotel. The charming rooms are each unique and tastefully decorated in a way that feel classic not chintzy. You can literally fall out of your room to any number and variety of galleries, and if you're adventurous you can walk all the way downtown. Also the hotel is a great community development project in and of itself. so if you care about tings like that how great is it to actually be supporting a local economy that could definitely use the support.
“Nice alternative to downtown hotel”
We wanted to be close to the downtown area to attend a concert at the Fox. This was a better than expected alternative to a traditional hotel. The location was great and parking was free, close and easily accessible. The shuttle service to and from the Fox was prompt and the driver was friendly and informative. (We called the inn on our way up the aisle after our concert and waited less than five minutes to be picked up at the curb). The room was roomy enough, clean and comfortable with tall ceilings and an extensive common area; all nicely appointed. The breakfast buffet was fresh with a nice assortment of fruits, juices, pastries and some hot items served in a pleasant dining room in the house that also serves as the office. This isn't quite a bed and breakfast and not a chain hotel. It fits a somewhat unique niche as an historic inn. It felt like a step back in time. We liked that, but it may not suit everyones taste. If we head to Detroit for an arts, sports or museum visit, we'll stay here again.
“Impressed”
Enjoyed the stay. Breakfast was very good and room was nice.
