“very clean. The staffers are very nice”
the hotel is in a very poor, but safe neighborhoud. It is a bit depressing. But you have plenty of bus stops around, and you are also very closed to one of hte biggest U ssecond hand books store in the US! I strongly recommend this hotel.
“Detroit's Hotel”
Hotel is great. Price is great. Staff is great, one of them even drove me to my business destination the next day.
“Best deal for the money”
Pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room. You never know what to expect, but it was nice. Stayed New Years Eve after the Red Wings Game. Would have given all 5's but the trash can in the room hadn't been emptied and the elevator the next day was out of order. I can walk down two floors to save over $100.
“Won't go back”
I checked into the hotel late in the night. It is located in a very isolated neighborhood. It being in Detroit I did not expect much but being a solo female traveller it creeped me out a bit. Plus the people at the counter were not exactly of the quality I expected. The room was dirty and the toilet was filthy. However it was the cheapest option close to the Canadian Consulate. I would not have stayed on at the place and will not be willing to go back there.
“Low Cost Convenience”
This hotel seems to be overlooked. It has a secure parking lot behind a card activated gate. I was able to drive to the convention center in only five minutes. Other conference guests were able to take a ten minute shuttle and even those who walked were able to reach Cobo hall in less than half an hour. There are little treasures in the neighborhood (a huge used book store, fast food, a gourmet French restaurant, a Soul Food cafe, etc.) The People Mover is available at Cobo Hall which is an easy way to go to upscale neighborhoods with other restaurants.
“sloppy rooms and maintenance”
I checked into a Corktown in a room on the first floor. What I noticed is that they had a sign wanting customers to pay for use of internet service. The clerk told me to ignore it. They had problems with people staying on the internet for hours. The hotel room was nasty. There was gook on the phone and it did not work. There were no instructions on how to use it nor were there a manual for the television. Mainly what channels were available. I did notice some free porn on channel 22 or 23. The air conditioning was working but the toilet was nasty and had not been cleaned. The clerk did not give me good instructions on how to get to the fox theatre. I decided to stick it out. After I came back from the concert I noticed a bed bug on a sheet. I went to the clerk and she gave me a room on the 4th floor. Guess what? The air conditioning did not work at all. I did not get much sleep. I got up early to go to the greyhound station which was 2 blocks away. The clerk gave me a ride and tried to apologize. He wondered if I would come back. Not a chance. Top things off they had people sleeping down the street near a Burger King.
“The worst place I/ve ever lived”
environment was bad, the devices in the room were bad, many things can not be used
“more good than bad”
The neighborhood is a little scary and ghetto but thats most of Detroit. The day shift front desk guy was very helpful and friendly. Some of hotel is a little dated. The water pressure was great and the room was clean.
“nasty doris”
walked in and saw prostitutes
“Never again”
This hotel was awful! I have never had a problem with my previous trips booked with Expedia. However, this place was a nightmare. I originally had a 2 night reservation; however, I left after one short night. Wednesday night after the Tigers game and the casino, we arrived at the hotel at 2am. The parking lot was covered with 4 police cars, 2 ambulances, glass, and blood on the ground. I felt like I walked into a First 48 Hours episode. I asked the woman behind the bullet proof glass desk, if I should be concerned. Her rude reply was, that has nothing to do with you and started talking on her phone. The hotel was dirty, the room smelled like urine. I didn't take off my shoes. The bed was hard; I didn't pull back the covers. I slept with a hooded sweatshirt, fearing that I may get lice or bed bugs. I recommend that Expedia removes this hotel listing.
