Perfect for our short break to Alton Towers. Staff were all fabulous and Lee was exceptional with making us feel welcome. Food, wine and staff in the restaurant was also excellent - we couldn’t fault a thing. Highly recommend staying or dining here.

Asked to change date as couldn’t make it due to car problems was broken down with no means of getting there, considering this is a family run hotel and it was my partners 40th birthday you would think as a good will gesture they would of give me a change of date option but they just give me a curfew of getting there for 11pm or don’t bother coming and took my money very poor service.

Hi Marie, Thank you for your feedback. It was very unfortunately that you encountered Car trouble we do tray and assist with issues where possible however when you contacted us at 6.30pm on the day of arrival we are unable to change a date. You advised us that you were getting an alternative car and you were advised that you could arrive up until 11pm without a problem but would need to contact us if you were going to be any later as we don't have a 24 hour reception.

Would recommend
Great location near Peak District National Park. Very dog friendly. Good pub food, with wide vegetarian selection. Accommodation is in rooms that are a few metres away from the pub. I think quite recently refurbished, they were fine. Liked that the room had a bath, after a long day of walking. Friendly staff.

Thank you for your review. We are a 17th Century inn and our décor reflects this along with our countryside location. Extra heating is readily available if requested we of course would happily of provided this.

Booked for overnight whilst visiting Alton Towers, so arrived around 9pm. Family room has good layout but first thing that hit us was smell of damp. Not sure how long since bedding had been changed on bunk bed as found a finger nail clipping under the quilt on the sheet. Glasses were dusty, old water in kettle and what looked like blood on bedside table (but think was possibly make up when we wiped it up). Walls stained, bathroom grime and toilet pan dirty. Had it not been after 9pm, would have left room there and then. One redeeming point was continental breakfast was fine and varied, if not a little bit odd.

A fantastic place to stay. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Breakfast options cater for everyone and food is excellent. Rooms are really comfortable and spacious. Was so impressed after our first visit, we have stayed a further two times and recommend to family. You wont be disappointed.

Lovely hotel near Alton Towers
We stayed here as a family of 4 through Tesco clubcard the night before going to Alton Towers. We travelled for about 3 hours and didn't arrive til 9.30pm (we'd phoned ahead to say we were arriving late) and were greeted warmly with everything we needed to know explained to us. The chalets are behind the restaurant, it was a large room with a double bed and a bunk bed, there was a radiator that heated up quick, a decent kettle with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The bathroom was clean with towels and a nice hot powerful shower. The only downside was we found the pillows really hard and uncomfortable. There is a communal playpark for the chalets which is lovely but unfortunately it had rained so the children didn't use it. The continental breakfast was lovely, it was a buffet with everything you could want on there, the kids loved it, at least 6 different types of cereals, little individual bowls with chopped berries in, toast to order, cookies, shortbread, flapjack, yoghurts, cheese, meats, kids cereal bars, we all had a really good feed! Fresh juices/tea and coffee to order, all included. The staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Beautiful location and friendly owners and staff
My partner and I stayed here because it was close to Alton Towers, but we loved everything about it and can't wait to return! We got in sort of late at night and worried we wouldn't be able to get dinner, but the staff was super nice and let us put our dinner orders in when we checked in and freshen up before heading to the on-site pub. The grounds are gorgeous and you have views of sprawling hills and cows, and they even have a chicken coop in the garden. (Also lots of play equipment for children and an outdoor beer garden.) Breakfast was also delicious: A buffet of pastries and meats and cheeses and a few hot options for order.

Fantastic B&B near Alton Towers
Lovely pub/B&B looks better than the pictures, in a beautiful, quiet location and only a 10 minute drive from Alton Towers which was the purpose of our stay, staff all lovely, especially the receptionist (sorry didn’t get your name) Room we stayed in was outside in the pub grounds and perfect for our short stay, enough space for the 4 of us, and fabulous shower. Continental breakfast had a good choice and filled us up for the morning. Highly recommend

Only stayed one night as passing through but would definitely stay again longer. Loved the parking up to front door of chalets as made luggage handling easy. ( don't be put off with the word chalet certainly NOT anything like a Butlins type one!!! Lovely big bath and shower, big tele and could turn on heating if needed. Bed a bit hard but that is only our view!! Food fab and lots of choice at brekkie. lovely polite and friendly staff. Soooo good value for money 10/10

Accommodation ok but can see why it’s not featured on their website! TV remote missing, decor etc so so. Dinner overpriced and well below average pub standard. Wait staff friendly but not very competent. Good that we could eat outdoors.

Great venue and staff, let down by food
The room was clean and comfy, staff were all really friendly and helpful. The pub was lovely and cosy and was great to chill and have a drink in. The downside was the price/quality of the food, particularly the mixed grill. Pork was tough and got no choice as to how the steak was cooked and it was £25. Also paid for breakfast to find the cooked breakfast was extra which was not made clear on booking. An improvement in the food would make this place a real gem.

Great find just 15 mins from Alton Towers
We stayed the night before a trip to Alton Towers. Checked in at 9pm. Had a good night of sleep and breakfast in the morning. Lots of choice and it was very yummy. Love the separate rooms and parking. A good play park and even a peacock! We would definitely stay again.

Ok for a pre-Alton Towers overnight stop but nothing special. Don’t expect a cosy traditional country inn. More motel style with the inn as an annex. Convenient, plentiful continental breakfast, easy parking.

Perfect for a family of 4 visiting Alton Towers
Exactly what it says on the tin. Affordable, friendly, clean and comfortable overnight accommodation. Evening meals were excellent quality. Breakfast a little sparse although we took advantage of the hot menu which filled a hole but wasn't anything to shout about. Nevertheless, the staff were very friendly and accommodating and we will definitely return.

Thank you for your review. On some quieter evenings we do finish serving dinner around 7.30-8pm however if a guest is running late or needs a later time for Dinner we will accommodate if needed a later time. We always serve later on weekends and during holiday periods.

Great location in the countryside and all the staff were so friendly. There was a good choice of food on the menu for dinner and the breakfast was excellent whether continental or the full English, which was delicious
