Great Hotel for exploring the Lake District.

Posted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: The excellent food as well as the convenient location, friendly staff and comfortable rooms.
Cons: Nothing, they know their job!
Location: The location is superb for a visit to any part of the Lake District.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Linthwaite, the reception, manager and staff could not have been more helpful throughout. The quality of the restaurant is simply outstanding, although not cheap, you really do get value for money and I have to say that the chef created some of the best dishes we have ever tasted. Although the hotel is above Lake Windermere, the view is largely obscured by trees and the lake could not be seen from most of the rooms, notwithstanding the hotel is well situated for a trip to any part of the Lake District and the grounds themselves are well maintained with comfortable seating and loungers for a coffee or drinks. After a hike round the Lakes the thought of the dining experience to follow was wonderful. We will certainly go again. Thanks to all at the Linthwaite.

Lovely Hotel But Small Room

Posted 16-Sep-2014
Pros: The Location and the food. The Guests Lounges.
Cons: I expected a more luxurious Bedroom with more space. Coffee should be included in meal price.
Location: In the Hills overlooking lake Windermere. A short drive to town and the Lake.
The Location is wonderful. In the Hills overlooking the Lake. The food is excellent although you do pay £52 for your meal and then have to pay for coffee. The Service is very good although a little formal. The Staff are mainly eastern Europeon and seem trained to serve professionally with no small talk. Our room was comfortable although small. It was a standard room. The bathroom was clean but more like my bathroom at home than the luxury you would expect in a countryhouse Hotel.Guests lounges were very pretty. The basic rooms are not cheap. Overall a lovely holiday, the weather was good and we sat out on the terrace with lovely views.

Hotel in a perfect location.

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Location: Lots of outdoor pursuits... especially walking, sailing, boat trips and horse riding.
This hotel is in a beautiful location in the Lake District - Bowness on Windermere. It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are very pleasant and helpful. We had a superior double room which was very comfortable and clean. The dining room was cosy and tastefully decorated and the food was good. Overall, a great place to take a relaxing break, - though expensive at this time of year.

Blissful Retreat

Posted 12-Jul-2014
Pros: Ambience, views, meals, friendly staff, location away from the crowds in the streets of Bowness.
Location: Row a wooden boat out onto Lake Windermere. Horse riding.
A perfect haven to discover the Lakes District. Fantastic grounds and views. Do not miss the walk around the Tarn (Lake) and views from up there. Lovely friendly staff and beautiful meals.

Fabulous views, lovely room, food and staff

Posted 02-Jun-2014
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing that I could see. Make it slightly less expensive so we can go more often !
Location: Its the Lake District - you don't need to know anything more !
We had a lovely overnight stay at Linthwaite House. The food is fabulous and the service impeccable. We had a Superior room that was comfortable, clean and well-maintained with a very comfy bed. The hotel is understated but ticks all of the boxes, I could have stayed a week, it had such a relaxing atmosphere. At the price it's a bit of special occasion place but well worth it. We tried the 7 course tasting menu with accompanying wine, which was £82 a head, we thought that was probably a bit on the hefty side but you can easily choose to eat elsewhere should you wish to. Having said that the food was to an excellent standard and the staff seemed very accommodating. I'm saving my pennies now for another visit. The views from the patio were fabulous, watching the sun go down over the hills - very tranquil.

Great hotel/ambience, poor room location!

Posted 25-May-2014
Great vacation spot. Superb breakfast ambience, menu and service. Avoid Room 6 which shows view of roof and neighbour's room thus vice versa. The room also opens to the business-end of the kitchen and its staff. The gardener is a wonderful man which shows in his works throughout the grounds.

Lovely country hotel with hill-top views of lake

Posted 08-May-2014
Pros: The location, the rooms, the service and the woodland walks on the doorstep.
On arrival, given a room upgrade which was well appreciated. Very clean and well appointed. Staff were very helpful throughout a two day stay and every member made an effort to remember and use the guests' names. That was impressive! Evening meal in the dining room was delicious and courses timed perfectly.
