good value?

Posted 24-Jul-2015
Pros: It was a nice hotel to stay at for a few days, where one was able to relax
Cons: It was a little expensive compared with the Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel, so maybe the prices should be a little more competitive.
Location: The location could be nearer the town. There are many shops and restaurants, and boat trips around the lake. A visit to Kendall is worth a visit.
First of all, the position of the hotel. We were of the opinion that it was walking distance from the town of Bowness on Windermere, but unfortunately, it wasn't. Nor were there any buses near the hotel. Therefore, we had to always take the car, which was eight minutes from the town. Then we had the problem of parking the car, and when we DID find a space, it was expensive. We did not have an evening meal in the hotel, as we thought that the price per head was not within our budget, so we went into the town, and after 6.30pm, the car parks were free. There were plenty of restaurants and pubs available to eat, and the prices were very reasonable, depending on what one ate. The hotel surroundings were beautiful, but we could not sun bathe, as the weather was so bad. Our bedroom facilities were excellent, and the staff were very friendly, efficient, and they went out of their way to help.

Great hotel, wonderful experience. However the staff were not to clear about the surroundings we wanted to know a way to get to be lake from the hotel as it was visible from the terrace but no one could definitively tell us wheatear we could it could not go. The cost room is very small.

Perfection!!!

Posted 13-Jun-2015
Pros: Everything!!!!
Cons: Keep up the great work. Bravo!
Location: Meander back roads--gett. Don't miss Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's farm & Hawkshead; Longfellow's Dove Cottage & Rydal Mount. Townend & Holehird Gardens
The LInthwaite House Hotel is absolutely marvelous--in every way. The location overlooking Lake Windermere is perfect--amazing views, feels like a million miles from the tourist chaos below, yet extremely handy to everything is one wanted to pop to a local pub or explore. The manor house is absolutely beautiful, in superb condition, with many inviting public spaces--not the least being a marvelous atrium room overlooking the panorama below. Because the weather was nippy we weren't able to eat on the beautiful verandah, but it looked amazing. Rooms were beautifully decorated with every amenity and top-of-the-line bathrooms/fixtures, plenty of closet space, beautiful luxurious linens--incredibly well planned space. Our balcony overlooked the loveliest hillside with a meadow filled with sheep--so we were awakened each morning to a symphony of bird song and lambs baaing. Magical. But the food must be mentioned. The breakfasts were fabulous in their beautiful dining rooms. Be sure not to miss having dinner at the Linthwaite--their prix fixe feast prepared by a top-flight chef included a drink and hors d'oeuvres beforehand overlooking the lake before escorting guests to the top-rated meal. Make reservations as soon as you arrive. We ended up eating there twice, it was so wonderful. Bravo. Our only regret was having to depart. This is the perfect place to stay in the Lake District! We'll be back, indeed.

Great location, kind staff, lovely room

Posted 27-May-2015
Pros: The location and the general relaxed ambiance
Cons: The wifi
Location: It's Windemere, so enough to said really!
This is country house hotel done very well indeed. Lovely room, fabulous setting. My only criticisms are small, the wifi is slow, and the water can vary in term erasure rapidly in the shower, but that aside, please do try this lovely place for a weekend.

Night away

Posted 24-Mar-2015
We stayed in one of the superior doubles and could not fault a thing. The room was spacious and warm. Very well presented and the bathroom boasted a separate shower and spa bath. We would definitely stay here again. The a la carte breakfast menu was lovely and plenty of fruit and cereals to choose from.
