This is an older property, but it was like staying in a small castle. It sits on a hill overlooking a sheep pasture. Behind the hotel is a dog path with tables and an old “wishing” well. The food in the restaurant was absolutely phenomenal. Would definitely stay again.

Very disappointed
Everything seemed very good until dinner. We waited an hour or more for starters and were then told that they’d run out of my main course.. They had given the last lamb steak to someone else by mistake and when I chose a chicken dish as an alternative they run out of chicken. By that time we had had enough so we went to our room with a complimentary drink. I wrote to the hotel after speaking with one of their employees who apologise profusely but the reply I have received from the hotel is completely unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel sadly to anybody. Geography is no substitute for good service!

Room was very basic and needed updating. It was also not very clean. There was dust everywhere and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly (hair everywhere). They tried to charge my card after I had checked out even though I had already paid for the room. I also used the gym which I had to pay £6 to use and it was disgusting, I dont think it had been cleaned or updating for years! Although the staff were friendly - I had a really dissapointing stay and think that you are only paying for the view.

We stayed for one night and arrived very late. No one there to check us in but key left on the reception table and we found the room ok. No option for breakfast in the room but on the whole a nice stay

Our room smelt of mothballs so badly we had to keep the windows open continually throughout our stay. The next morning we informed the hotel breakfast staff who asked how our stay was but there was no change again that night. On the second day my wife developed a cough..

Tired, in need of work
The hotel is tired. It says it was recently refurbished and you could see that new bathrooms had been installed but they haven’t been done well at all. The rooms themselves don’t seem to have been touched in a while. When we arrived the room we were given as a ‘deluxe double’ wasn’t worth the money at all. It was dingy and miserable with cheap looking decor. I went to open the curtains to let more light in, only to reveal more wall! I was so disappointed as I thought this would be the best hotel in the area. The only saving grace at this hotel was the staff. So helpful, so kind and as accommodating as they could possibly be. The lady on reception couldn’t have been more helpful when I raised the room issue with her. She showed me two other rooms they had available and let me choose. The room we had in the end was the best of a tired bunch

Hotel & services brilliant. But we had a near miss as our 3 year old able to squeeze through tall Stair case on the way to room from reception - It was just a milli second the the mum pulled her out. Leaving it like that will be an accident waiting to happened. I do not see the big gap on the grill about 2.5 Foot height & about 1 foot width- Easy mistake

Very nice hotel with amazing views and breakfast. However, due to the age of the hotel it was very loud. I woke up anytime anyone walked by our room. This coupled with the uncomfortable beds didn’t make for a great night’s sleep for me but for heavier sleepers it might be fine.

country house with a view
Ideal to get away from everything with fantastic views over the valley, the place is ideally situated to go and explore the Brecon Beacons and the amazing breakfast will set you up for the day, staff were excellent despite all of the COVID restrictions and I will make sure to try and stay here again when I am back in the area

Great place to stay - food is excellent!
My husband and I stayed for five nights and really enjoyed our stay. Staff were very friendly, the hotel grounds were lovely and it was a great base to explore the area. The breakfasts were excellent, with lots of choice. We stayed for dinner on three of the nights and all the food was excellent. We asked for a room with a view in advance and were given one - the bed could have been a bit more comfortable and, although during COVID, housekeeping is not carried out every day, fresh towels and toiletries were provided on request. All in all a great stay and we would return.

Honest review We stayed during covid restrictions and I booked this hotel specifically because it had a pool (which other hotels we stayed at were open) but the pool was closed so this was a big disappointment the room itself was large and the bed was comfortable and the bedding lovely BUT the bathroom and toilet need a complete refit, a cupboard in there was fixed in the cheapest way possible with a clasp and padlock, surely you could have found a nicer way to fix it However the staff were lovely Sunday lunch was amazing and one of the best I’ve had (except my own) The price I paid for the room would have been worth it if the pool and spa was open In this case I think it was overpriced, however I do appreciate that the hotel industry has been hit hard this year and more staff are needed for less customer turnover so increased prices is what we may need to get used to for a while

Lovely building but like any old building is in dire need of an overhaul. Staff very friendly but here arw the things that brought my overall rating down. I know covid has changed how many things work and that is fine ... unable to provide the continental the normal way we were asked.to prebook our cold part of the breakkie so we did. Arriving on time on a prebooked breakki i find rather disappointing having to wait for over 15 minutes and on the second day not even getting the whole.lot in one go. Sugar missing no jam no cuttlery! Luke warm coffee. Not impressed. The poached egg on the first day was shocking! A child can make a better one.. and the hash brown on the second day filled w oil that tasted like old overused oil. Bacon overcooked... hubby wasnt best impressed either. We only had dinner there one night. So much for the culinary awards! I appreciate operaring a reduced menu due to.covid but again... not much choice and my gammon was not the best. Plate had water on it and the egg was so oily it was shocking. Nice puddings though. Room wise .. well room.spacy enough and comfy enough but the barhroo. Was rather odd. There is a step on it so when you wake up middle of the night you may fall cause of it. The bath too high so for a short person like me rather hard to get in or out. Would i stay there again? Not sure. At first it all looked amazing but it all went downhill. Maybe things were better before covid19 not sure.

Nice hotel. A bit dated
The hotel is nice and well located. We stayed in room 10 which I would avoid. The bathroom was really dated, the view was of a water tank and there was a constant humming sound from some sort of ventilation system outside the room.

Once we are able to we will aim to do some more renovations, we are currently refurbishing our lounge as you may have seen. pictures on the website are sadly flattering. Pool area is not as clean or nice as made out in the photos. The hotel is used for functions and this seems to be their priority rather than the guests staying there. Sadly the room we were in heard every bit of music from the party they were hosting and there was no warning given to us.

Happy & relaxed stay
Beautiful 4 poster bed overlooking the most amazing views. Breakfast is very good and we loved the porridge and full welsh breakfast. Our toddler loved the buttermilk pancakes. Lovely pool and hot tub and steam and sauna. Relaxed retreat. Very friendly will be returning.

There are good points and bad points about this hotel. On the plus side the staff were great, very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. The bed was very comfortable and the room a good size. There is a good spa area with a small pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and gym. The restaurant and bar area are lovely and the food very good with a great breakfast included. The negatives are the wi-fi is rubbish even in the public areas, the bedroom was way too hot and even the aircon didn't cool it down, the carpet in the bedroom didn't look like it had been hoovered for a week. All in all its a nice hotel that just needs a bit of tweaking.

Good value for price
With a name like "The Manor", the mind conjures up stately and elegant ideas.... Don't expect that here. It's an okay property that has seen better days. The property has a very lovely view of the surrounding hills which is its best feature. Service at breakfast and at the main reception was slow. The room was a little musty, bathroom very tiny. One night stay was okay for the cost.
