“Great location for Cinque Terre”
The Hotel across the road from the train station - great starting point for Cinque Terre Room was comfortable, but rather tired and in need of renovation Reasonable value for money
“Hotel Firenze E Continentale”
It was an excellent choice. 50 Meters from the railway station and walking distance to many restaurants. The employees were friendly, helpful, and spoke English very well. Because of the location it was so easy to use the train to go to Cinque Terre, Pisa, and Florence for day trips. Lobby/bar area was nicely appointed and a nice place to sit and use the wi fi.
“Only thing good was the location and it was still sketchy.”
La Spezia is a crappy industrial city with no significance whatsoever as a travel destination and the only thing it has going for it is proximity to Cinque Terre. As you enter the city you see Graffiti everywhere and buildings that remind you of cold War Russia. As you get closer to the hotel you hope to see cleaner streets but no. The hotel is very close to the train station and that's its plus. You are paying for the proximity to the train station and they are overcharging for that since if the town did not have a train station there would be no reason to stay there whatsoever. Sadly if you are going to Cinque Terre by car there are not many choices to park so you get stuck there. Parking in Levanto is a option also. The Cinque Terre train card is 10 Euros for one day of travel between towns and La spezia is included so it worked out but no one ever checks your ticket anyway . We used the location to hop on and off the train, nothing more.
“Dark and DIngy”
The location of this hotel was very convenient. Although clean, the rooms and halls were dak and dingy and smelled musty. Upon check -out, I was charged 10 euro for each time that I used the fitness center. When I inquired about the fitness center, the staff never mentioned a fee. In addition, the fitness center was inadequate and not worth the fee. There were several hotels in the same area for the same price that seemed much more inviting!
“Not impressed”
If you can't stay in the Cinque Terre towns & are looking for a place to stay that's near the train station, then this is the place for you. This is what we were looking for & we usually stay in 3 star hotels in Europe. The breakfast in the hotel is really good & the location to the train station is perfect. The restaurant across the street (Ristorante Roma) is absolutely fabulous--great food, great value, great service. Absolutely loved it....however, the hotel didn't recommend it. The part I didn't like about the hotel was the room cleanliness. We found an unidentified hair in the bathroom right after we checked in. If you're not picky about where you stay (neighborhood isn't great, but it's not bad. Frankly, none of the areas in La Spezia seemed to be all that great or that bad, so I don't think this hotel is located in a bad area), and you're looking for a place close to the train station (literally a 1-2 minute walk & very easy to find), then this is the place for you.
“best location for Cinque Terre visits”
Our family of 6 stayed at Hotel Firenze E Continentale for 2 nights as we visited Cinque Terre. The location could not be better as the train station is across the street and we didn't hear train noise in the rooms. The rooms were adequate although the mattresses were not ideal. It was very clean and the breakfast was delicious. Free internet made it a huge plus. There was a problem with checking in with a mix up in the reservations but that was not the hotel's fault and eventually they did their best to work it out. We would stay there again and will recommend it to others.
“Very convenient”
A very convenient location near the train station. Very clean. Only problem was requested a double and got a room with two twin beds. Recommend booking on Hotel Firenze and Continental site to secure desired room.
“Good Hotel from which to explore La Spezia and Cinque Terre”
The hotel is right across the train station, and, therefore, very conveniently located to access the train to reach the Cinque Terre towns. The staff at the hotel was very friendly; the hotel is well maintained and the room was kept very clean. The complimentary breakfast was good and the hotel's breakfast room is located on the top floor where you can get a good view of the town. There are a lot of good restaurants and very nice shops in La Spezia, and some nice and very inexpensive restaurants relatively close to the hotel. Additionally, there is a coin laundry right around the corner from the hotel - which will allow you to do your laundry at a very reasonable price. (The hotel has laundry service, of course, but it is much more expensive.) The only item that was tolerable, but not great, was the bathroom of the room which was relatively small. But besides that, all was good and I recommend this hotel for anyone exploring La Spezia and the Cinque Terre area. (By the way, please lower your expectations about Cinque Terre, which is overly hyped and overly overrated. Most of the pictures of Cinque Terre that you see are heavily photoshopped. However, enjoy the pasta, the pesto and the wine!)
“Solid Hotel in La Spezia”
We stayed at Hotel Firenze E Continentale as we could not get reservations in Cinque Terre itself for one of the nights we planned to stay there. It's a solid, three star hotel. The desk staff seemed disinterested in us, but our room was clean and comfortable. The air conditioner in our room worked; however was so loud that you could hear it at the other end of the hall, even with our door shut. The hotel is very convenient to the train station, so I would recommend it to people wanting to spend the majority of time in Cinque Terre itself as a solid place to stay.
“Great location for Cinque Terra trains. Would stay there again.”
Great location close to the train station (100 yards away). Hotel room was a good size for Italian cities. Good breakfast included, served in attic room. Friendly staff. Easy walk to restaurants. Better shopping area was 15 mins walk along pedestian only street.
