First and last impressions not good, not bad in the middle. Got there at reasonable hour but hotel had double-booked and staff didn't seem to be bothered with finding me a solution. After intervention of other (Indian) guests, was given a very poor room, got photo of continuing water leak (stained ceiling) from above, basically, tak eit or leave it. After complaining next day got slightly better room. Older 'boss man' turned up on second day and service improved immediately, but that was short-lived, back to mediocre. On final night, ate in restaurant and staff were ill-mannered, food not bad, did not leave a tip. Left a sour taste (no pun intended) in the mouth. Third trip to India, so certainly expected much better.
Staying at the Amarpreet was a pleasure. The entrance to the hotel is most inviting - polished marble and spotless decor - during Xmas there was a charming seasonal sand painting on a glass-topped table in the lobby. The staff were most helpful throughout, providing tourist advice and looking after luggage even after check-out. The room was well appointed, and the view from my room was of a local landmark. After visits to the Ellora and Ajanta Caves, it was wonderful to come back to the comfort of the Amarpreet Hotel.
