Birthday treat

Posted 09-Mar-2015
We booked a room at the Chester Grosvenor to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and shown to our very spacious and luxurious room. Everything was perfect from the huge bed to the marble bathroom. All the staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We booked a morning cup of tea each ( as no tea/coffee making facilities in the room ) for the costly price of £5 each!! And asked for it at 9am and it arrived at 8.59 so excellent service again. All in all I would highly recommend a stay here, although expensive as a treat it's worth it.

Gorgeous hotel right in the centre of Chester

Hotel gorgeous. Food not up to 5 star standard, however it was competitively priced. Poor service in the Restaurant and bar. Breakfast was a little confusing and we were bought the wrong food twice and had one dish forgotten completely.

Good hotel in excellent city centre position

Posted 01-Jan-2015
Pros: Well positioned and a lovely interior.
Cons: Staff need to more precise with waiting times.
Location: City centre position
The hotel was very conveniently positioned in the heart of chester. Room was well equipped and comfortable. We did encounter a couple of delays - requested coffee tray to our room and was told it would be 10/15 minutes after 40 minutes of waiting we decided it was quicker to walk into town to get one! When we asked for the return of our car from valet parking we were told 10 minutes and again this turned into 40 minutes... So be prepared to ask well in advance. Also on checkout we were billed £120 for meals from brasserie that weren't ours!!! Did get this sorted, but check carefully.

The bistro: it took 3/4 of an hour to be served the main course. No information that we had to book the Michelin star restaurant so as guests we expect a table for dinner.

Fantastic hotel

Posted 13-Dec-2014
Pros: The whole experience of our stay at the hotel was fantastic
Cons: Nothing to improve.
Location: Great location, right in the centre, all the shops, historical sights, bars and restaurants, the river 5 mins walk away.
Great experience, in the centre of Chester, a great historical city. Close to all the shops, relaxing and comfortable.
