This property has a lovely courtyard garden for breakfast. The downside of this is that if you have a room overlooking this you are plagued by mosquitos. I had more than 25 bites on one hand alone! They hadn't managed to spray the rooms yet and did not supply repellent plugs. We had booked a suite but this was unavailable so were moved to this room.

The hotel was charming and comfortable. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Convenient location for transportation (train and bus stations. However, very few restaurants other than fast food. The situation was saved by one restaurant across the street, Manga. The three simple meals I had there were good.

Hidden Gem! extremely good value wonderful service
A nice surprise to stay in the former palace, with historic architecture, beautiful décor, modern comforts and great service they offered. Close to the train and bus stations. 20 min walk to the center of Catania. Staff at the reception were professional, friendly and very helpful. Francesco helped us add 3rd night at Hotel Villa Romeo (It sold out at the date when I booked months ago), and called for canceling the other hotel. We had a large 4-persons room, clean and comfortable. The shower head holder was broken, it got fixed the next day without request. Overall, we highly recommended this underrated 3 star hotel.

The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance from the train station, though the area around the station is not very attractive. The hotel itself is a immaculately restored palazzo with access from the rooms to serene and tranquil courtyards. The front desk staff is not only very professional but personable and helpful, inspiring confidence. A special thanks to Francesco! We enjoyed our stay very much.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Villa Romeo. It had an "old world" feel with modern conveniences; exactly what we were looking for in this fascinating city. The room was spacious and fully equipped with everything we needed, and the included breakfast was varied and generous. Special mention: The inner garden terrace breakfast terrace was a wonderful and unexpected delight. Absolutely gorgeous. We described the surroundings as gritty, but truly, pretty much all of Catania could be described thus. My wife and I never felt unsafe in any way, but Catania faces challenges in refuse removal and general upkeep. Overall, 5 out of 5!

Best hotel in Sicily
Manager, Francesco remembers me !!! I stayed this hotel last September. This hotel has the best location, very close to the station. Breakfast at a patio with Mallorca ceramic table is fabulous! I definitely stay at this hotel whenever I come to Catania!

Stay away! Dirty and terrible staff
Terrible property! Avoid at all cost!! The pictures on the site were taken years ago! Since it has not been updates or cleaned. Front desk staff extremely rude. Moreover, I left my luggage for the afternoon after checkout. When I returned, I was charged in cash for it by the front desk attendant. I was never told I had to pay and I’m cash! No receipt, nothing. I travel several weeks out of the year for many years already. This is the first time I encountered this. This is not a 3 start hotel, it’s a 1 or two at max. Stay away from it!!

Hotel is a solid 3 star. Good service from staff. Nice enough inside. It is convenient to the train station and motorcoach transit. However there is a number of homeless people in the area around all this, and a lot of litter, graffiti etc. We didn't feel threatened or uneasy about walking about but it isn’t the nicest area.

Don’t go!!
This hotel was so rundown and in such poor condition I forfeited a night and didn’t stay there. The surrounding area looked so unsafe for a woman alone my taxi driver didn’t want to drop me off. The whole place smelled of must and mold. I wound up paying twice what I had for a week in Malta for a lovely, but not nearly as nice a place.

We were given a room that we had no idea was there handicapped room. We checked in and the desk clerk said we needed to take the elevator and then steps to our room. We asked if that was all he had because my wife’s knee was acting up and he said no he had another room that would be better. When we got to the room we noticed a foul odor in the bathroom and presumed it was some kind of disinfectant. We got there late evening and we went to dinner after a long day of traveling. When we came back the smell was still there. We closed the bathroom door and we went to sleep exhausted from the day. The next morning we got up wanting to take a shower but the smell was still there. I told my wife it smelled like a nursing home but she didn’t think so. In the meantime I had noticed behind the shower curtains that it was set up for handicapped people. We decided to shower when we got to our next hotel because of the smell. When we checked out I told the current desk clerk about the smell and he just smiled and chuckled and said that’s because it’s their handicapped room! Then it all made sense! The smell was a combination of urine and whatever disinfectant that they were using to cover up the existing odors! Not a class move by a supposedly “reputable “ business! When I told the desk clerk how we were deceived by the clerk the night before who had said it was the “better “ room he just shrugged his shoulders and said I owed him 4 dollars for the tax! Like being deceived,book it!

The hotel was easy to find with Google Map. We managed to park our car for free at the ample parking (free) by the side of the road just outside the hotel. Check-in was smooth. Our room was spacious, with a balcony looking out to the front of the hotel. Decor was old-time elegant and everything worked well. Bed was comfortable. Linen and towels were clean. Breakfast was sufficient and served at a large, beautiful open area on the first floor. Staff were friendly and helpful. We walked easily into town without having to use our car. Overall, for the price and location, we can highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic hotel. Awesome roof space to chill out in the evening and have breakfast in the morning. 4 stars for me. Super convenient for airport transfer and train station 5 minutes away. 15 minute walk to Centre. Breakfast was outstanding and all staff super helpful. Felt very safe once inside. Catania is initially not relaxing but once we knew our way around loved it. Only stayed 1 night as had booked Airbnb for further week. Tbh would have rather stayed here for another week.

Hotel was grand, stayed in the suite, lovely room! There was no bar in the hotel, no restaurant either! There were three different front desk workers who were not really overly friendly or helpful! The hotel is grand if you want to use the train station as it is directly opposite, surrounding area is very dirty and not a lot of dining options.

Had an excellent stay in this pleasant hotel. All staff were helpful but just a mention for Francesco who went out of his way to help. Nice breakfast Close to railway station and walking distance to long distance bus stations. Area around hotel not so nice but I did not feel unsafe.

A Jewel
The Hotel Villa Romeo is a jewel shining in an area very near the train station and approximately 10 minutes from the centre of the city. The Hotel I could not fault for my needs . Very relaxed. I felt the decor was that of a 4 star hotel. The courtyard terrace was a wondefully quiet and beautiful sun spot to just relax or have breakfast. The breakfast was great. Everything from meat,cheeses to fruit and cake! Very friendly staff from the maintenance to the front of house. Near the Hotel is quite neglected though the Hotel itself is a shining jewel of Catania.

was do to check in at 2pm but arrived at 10am and asked to leave cases but told one room was ready and we could use that immediately, receptionist came up a few minutes later and gave us card for the second room. rooms were nicely decorated lots of space nice high ceilings, aircon very quiet and effective, the rooms were cleaned daily by very nice cleaning staff, we took breakfast in the courtyard a very nice setting (breakfast was very basic, apart from scrambled eggs there was no other hot options) the lady providing breakfast was very helpful and polite. the reception staff could not do enough for us arranging tours, directions, and advice. the area around the hotel is a little bland,(close to main road, so can be a little noisy on occasions) with very few bars or restaurants although the bus and train station is a two min walk with access to all areas, it is a 15-20 min walk to the main areas in Catania. watch out for the traffic in catania, these guys just go for it, it seems to be a free for all.

A most enjoyable stay in Villa Romeo in Catania
Had a most relaxing holiday in Catania where we stayed in Hotel Villa Romeo. Hotel is very nice with rooms built around a central courtyard where one can, besides taking breakfast, chill out on one of the sofas and drink a bottle of wine. Staff are very friendly and polite especially the receptionist Francesco who goes out of his way to help with any of the guests' needs be it bus information or information about places to visit. He also helped us a lot with booking of really nice excursions. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Catania both for location (near bus and train station), and for quality of service.

The hotel is fair, what I didn't like was that in the reservation at expedia is mentioned breakfast buffet is included. However, the "breakfast" was a sweet bread (colazione) from a coffee shop 4 blocks away, not even a coffee was included. By the way, the colazione costs 1.5€ at the coffee shop. These are the small details for what you don't recommend a place to stay.
