Near amenities

Cons: More mature staff
Nice clean room. Right in the middle of town which was great. My only complaint was the lack of mature staff. The place was run by young people and that affected the customer service. Coming back to the hotel after dinner, our 10pm drink request at the bar seem to throw them. We ended up paying for two drinks on a credit card and didn't stay long.

Nice Hotel

Posted 08-Dec-2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Beds, not very comfortable
Excellent location, in the city centre, close to the Millenium stadium. Rooms were clean and nicely furnished although I found the bed extremely uncomfortable. A reasonable hotel for the price paid.

Great value

Cons: List the post codes for the parking in the info on the hotel
The hotel is very central - within walking distance to just about everything in Cardiff. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself looked as if it had just been cleaned and painted. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating - they stored our luggage after check-out at no charge. We only stayed one night and didn't eat at the hotel, so I can't comment on the food and service or the housekeeping. The only down side we found to the Royal is the lack of on-site parking. There is an arrangement for reduced parking rates, but the garage has a different post code, so the GPS got us to the hotel just fine, but we then took another 30 minutes to find the parking.

Lovely central hotel

Posted 30-Oct-2014
Pros: as above!
Cons: Windows that open - even a little bit!
Location: very central - near the castle, stadium, shops, bars and restaurants and the bus and train station - yet quiet in the room (we were at the back).
The room was comfy with a lovely big bed! Clean and well equipped. The staff are friendly and helpful - really can't fault them! My only complaint is that we couldn't open the window in our room to let in fresh air - something that makes me feel a bit claustrophobic! But we got a fan which helped and it's not unusual with many hotels these days - for some reason. Despite this little whinge we would not hesitate to recommend it though!! :)

Nice hotel close to Millenium stadium

Posted 29-Oct-2014
Pros: Comfortable beds and friendly helpful staff.
Location: Millenium stadium is close by so handy for the rugby. As hotel is in town centre very handy for shopping!
Nice hotel which is conveniently located in the centre of Cardiff, so very handy for shopping trips! Staff are all friendly and helpful, and made it a most enjoyable stay. Rooms are comfortable and clean, with very comfy beds. From previous reviews, and being located at the front of the hotel, I was expecting it to be noisy, but this was not the case and I slept like a log!

Nice hotel with good location

Posted 15-Oct-2014
Pros: The staff and the good cooked breakfasts.
Cons: As with most hotels providing coffee/tea facilities there are never enough mini cartons of milk.
Location: Good central location with easy and a short walk from the train station
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Royal Hotel. The room was fine for our needs, the only downside being that there was just one very small window, but it was comfortable and cosy. Breakfast was very good value. We had omelettes and eggs benedict made to order and they were perfectly done. All staff were very friendly and we would definitely stay there again.
