My stay

Posted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: The lounge was nice- and the breakfast area were great. If we hadn't gotten the dreaded room #19 I would have been okay with this hotel.
Cons: Room 19 should be overhauled-- demolded and painted. I don't think they can do anything about the size though.
Location: The location was great- we enjoyed being able to walk into the village.
Dreaded room #19. I was shocked and dismayed by this room. The hotel has two buildings- the tudor look building is run down. The room had mold and fading paint. The bathroom in this room was split with toilet in one mini closet(my husband couldn't move in the room) and the other room had the shower and sink. The room was way to small. We were stuck-- couldn't go anywhere else-- I decided we would spend as much time as possible out of the room so when not sight seeing we hung out in the lounge in the main building. The next day I asked if we could move to another room-- I am allergic to mold. They allowed us to move into a larger room next to our original room for no extra charge. And I was happy.

Great location

Wanted to visit Arromanches on our way down to Brittany - nice hotel and location is excellent. Room was a bit small and at the top of steep stairs but no real problem - recommended and friendly staff. We will return

Small hotel close to Arramanches undergoing refurb

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: Public areas, decor, reception spoke good English, they welcomed our small dog.
Cons: Furniture in rooms (wardrobe flimsy and lack of bedside table because of small room. Loo very small - knees almost knocked against door when shut!
Location: Very close to beach, shops, bars, restaurants museum. Easy access to other visitor attractions in the area.
The welcome was very good, the public areas have been very well refurbished and the hotel is within easy walking distance of beach and shops/restaurants in Arramanches. The hotel rooms are small. Ours was on ground floor overlooking gardens so easily accessible with our small dog. The loo is separate from the shower room and there is limited space. The bed is pushed up against one wall although comfortable. More pillows would have been good. The breakfast was very good.

Beautiful house - Ideally located

Posted 18-Aug-2014
Pros: The location is perfect for visiting the D-Day beaches.
Cons: Nothing should be changed.
Location: D-Day exhibitions.
The hotel is beautiful French house on the edge of the town. Very comfortable with well appointed rooms and very friendly staff. It is perfect for visiting the D-Day beaches and Bayeaux, which is only 5 miles away. My family are already badgering me to take them back there.

Convenient location

Posted 15-Aug-2014
Pros: Character, staff
Cons: Room layouts, tho they are working on this.
Location: Castles, beaches, restaurants all good
Stayed to visit Arromanches beaches, convenient location, pleasant hotel, reception and bar area lovely, rooms very small but clean tho bathrooms in need of revamp, think this is a work in progress. Owners terrific! We wish them well with their future plans, all said good value for money! They were busy and ran out of croissants n pastries at breakfast. :(

Lovely welcome, great looking hotel and has that French 2star quirkiness that we love. Breakfast excellent and public rooms were great. Bedrooms clean and fine but a bit tired- we loved our stay.

Nice hotel close to town

Posted 19-Jun-2014
Pros: It was close to the town and beach. Nice lobby to enjoy beverages.
Cons: Control the mold and mildew in the room.
Location: Tour the D Day Museum, the 360 D Day presentation, walk the beach, visit the American Cemetery.
The staff was accomodating. Very nice. Our room was in an adjacent building to the main one. It was small. Hard to move around in it. There was mildew on some of the walls.

Location, Location, Location A Work in Progress

Posted 14-Jun-2014
Pros: The location is minutes from the town center and Gold beach. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Rooms clean and functional.
Location: To really understand the D-Day invasion I would highly recommend you get a private full day tour.
We arrived June 8th, two days after the official commemoration of the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Once we found our hotel we were able to park our car and easily walk to the beach and center of town within minutes avoiding traffic and parking issues. The gentleman who owns the hotel, a fluent English speaking Frenchman, bought the property a little over a year ago. This property is in transition. An adjoining building next to the villa is scheduled for remodel and refurbishment this coming year with plans to have the villa go through the same in the future. He wants the hotel to obtain a three star rating upon completion. As it is currently is, yes, it could use a little face lift yet is is clean, comfortable and all facilities in good working order.
