Sub-standard hotel

Posted 14-Oct-2014
Pros: Chose it for location...and that is the only thing it has going for itself.
Cons: See above.
Location: The location was very good, near to the Normandy beaches.
This hotel displayed real deferred maintenance. The owner is not keeping up with needed repairs. The worst problem was mold. There was mold on the walls and on the ceiling of our room. There was also mold growing around a door to the garden in the breakfast room. When I spoke to a staff member about this, she said that she could not scrub it off. I told her that the mold had to be killed with a bleach solution, not just scrubbed. This appeared to be new information to her. I asked to speak with the owner, but was told that person was not there. The plumbing was also antiquated. The bathroom was not clean and the toilet seat needed to be tightened up. It moved way to the side when one sat upon it, very bad situation for a person with back problems.

Charming old building in great location!

Posted 12-Oct-2014
Pros: Its character and charm.
Cons: The room renovations and updates in the outer buildings need to be completed.
Location: Great location near the British museum and Gold Beach.
The rooms were small and needed some TLC but clean and the most comfortable mattresses and pillows of anywhere we stayed. The common areas were lovely and having the outside terrace area added to our enjoyment. It was within walking distance of town and we were surprised at all the history there that we were not aware of. Would definitely stay again!

Beautiful small bnb type hotel

Posted 05-Oct-2014
We had a great stay at this hotel. The location is great with a short walk to the beach and restaurants. The beds were great and breakfast was beautiful, staff were refined but friendly and helpful. We had four beds in our room for our family which made it abit squishy, but if you are a couple the room size would have been generous. One simple thing to improve the room would've to raise the shower head, it's a hand shower so it's not a great problem, but it's just too low.

Good but don't trust the pictures!

Posted 30-Sep-2014
3 night stay for a d-day tour. Great for access to the area and a short walk to the town centre. Staff ok. The surroundings and public areas are lovely having recently been decorated. However the rooms look nothing like the photos when you book! The word 'tired' came up frequently in our party. Walls a little thin but bed very comfortable. Overall we'd probably stay again but just disappointed with the expectation of the room and reality.

Bucolic

Posted 22-Sep-2014
Pros: The country atmosphere, friendly staff, close proximity to sea and town.
Location: Arromanches and the sea.
Hotel and grounds are lovely. It's only a few minutes walk from town and the sea. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Yes, they are renovating but it caused no difficulty for us. Great parking on site and chairs about the grounds to sit and enjoy the views.

Good location easy walk into Arromanche

Posted 20-Sep-2014
Pros: Good location, staff could speak english and very helpfull. Bed and pillow very comfy. Room clean. They are updating slowly.
Cons: We had room 13 smelt of damp and bathroom very small, had to leave window open to make room smell fresher.
Pleasant stay, Arromanches is a bit of tourist trap, but a good place to see all the sights.

My stay

Posted 17-Sep-2014
Pros: The lounge was nice- and the breakfast area were great. If we hadn't gotten the dreaded room #19 I would have been okay with this hotel.
Cons: Room 19 should be overhauled-- demolded and painted. I don't think they can do anything about the size though.
Location: The location was great- we enjoyed being able to walk into the village.
Dreaded room #19. I was shocked and dismayed by this room. The hotel has two buildings- the tudor look building is run down. The room had mold and fading paint. The bathroom in this room was split with toilet in one mini closet(my husband couldn't move in the room) and the other room had the shower and sink. The room was way to small. We were stuck-- couldn't go anywhere else-- I decided we would spend as much time as possible out of the room so when not sight seeing we hung out in the lounge in the main building. The next day I asked if we could move to another room-- I am allergic to mold. They allowed us to move into a larger room next to our original room for no extra charge. And I was happy.

Wanted to visit Arromanches on our way down to Brittany - nice hotel and location is excellent. Room was a bit small and at the top of steep stairs but no real problem - recommended and friendly staff. We will return

Small hotel close to Arramanches undergoing refurb

Posted 28-Aug-2014
Pros: Public areas, decor, reception spoke good English, they welcomed our small dog.
Cons: Furniture in rooms (wardrobe flimsy and lack of bedside table because of small room. Loo very small - knees almost knocked against door when shut!
Location: Very close to beach, shops, bars, restaurants museum. Easy access to other visitor attractions in the area.
The welcome was very good, the public areas have been very well refurbished and the hotel is within easy walking distance of beach and shops/restaurants in Arramanches. The hotel rooms are small. Ours was on ground floor overlooking gardens so easily accessible with our small dog. The loo is separate from the shower room and there is limited space. The bed is pushed up against one wall although comfortable. More pillows would have been good. The breakfast was very good.
