“It's ok if you do not expect anything more than a clean motel near an ATM and a supermarket...”
no elevator, no service beyond 9am-8pm...so if you travel with a heavy baggage and arrive late, be mentally prepared.
“More than expected”
The hotel was a lot nicer than I had expected it to be. The room was big and clean and actually looked even better than it did in the pictures. The shower was awesome, new with great pressure. They have a dvd player and an Ipod docking station in the room which is nice too. The whole hotel is very contemporary and it did feel a lot like staying at a friend's condo not a hotel. It's great to have the Safeway just downstairs too! The kitchen is stocked with pots, pans, cups, plates and utensils so don't worry about bringing your own. We had a really great time. Only downside was parking - they charge $15 a day but my boyfriend refused to pay that and found parking just up the block for free! Could've used extra soap in the washroom and there are limited front desk hours (10am -10pm I think). Only other downside was the early checkout - 11am, the hotels we usually stay at have 12 pm check out.
“Studio and not a Suite plus Noisy”
I chose Nuvo hotel suites as by the photos seemed to be a reasonable size and competitive in price. However, the rooms are studios at best and extremely small. A bed and 2 lounge type chairs plus a small coffee table and portable airconditioner all take up every bit of space so tripped over the bed legs several times trying to move about. Yes there is a bench kitchen but no real room to enjoy eating except up at the bench. The bed was the softest I have slept on in 3 months away and the pillows so large and hard that woke with a headache. There is no real service to think of ...the check in area is just a disorganised messy office. I asked for a white pages to look up an old friend's phone number and was just told to use the internet. Lucky I had the laptop, although the wireless was too slow to allow sending emails from outlook so had to use webmail. As said the airconditioner unit was in the room with a large hose through the window resulting in a window area only closed with 3 ply wood. Consequently the curtains did not seal properly so light not blocked and the noise from the outside traffic extremely noisy even though I was on the 4th floor. (No elevator!) The only positve to the hotel that it is accross the road from a Safeway so easy to get supplies but a good 15-20 minute walk to the downtown. Overall there are much better options downtown. I moved to another suites hotel for much less cost a night with separate bedroom and living areas.
“Albertan's”
Nice located hotel, this is my second stay in less than 5 month. Next time in Calgary will stay in the same hotel
“Uncomfortable”
No reception staff or lobby. Just an untidy office where you check in. The parking area is difficult to get to. The room was clean and well appointed but it smelled like it had just been sprayed thoroughly with bug spray and it was impossible to sleep.
“Modern and stylilsh.”
Awesome location, super modern room, felt like a high end condo in a big city! Loved the Aveda amenities, it was an added bonus.
“We will comeback and stay here! we loved it!”
My husband and i wanted to get away for a night but no go to far as we are from Edmonton....A few of our friends recommended this hotel to us and i checked it out and it seemed cozy and was like a little apartment as i guess it once was one years ago. I booked through Expedia and they had one room left so we took it. It was a Saturday afternoon we got to the hotel, parking was no problem at all if you do not mind walking a block or two and was always a open spot. The hotel staff where very friendly and professional. I had thought to myself if this was the last room avail that night that we might be put in the least requested room but it was perfect and well maintained, on the lower level so it was not super warm but we did leave the fan on all night as the room did not look to have A/C which i think it should have had for a hotel. The building was sold out but we did not hear a thing day or night from patrons or street outside. Great location if you want to be close to downtown and Hudsons Pub 3 block walk from hotel. My Husband said that the bed was the best sleep he has ever had so if any of the staff read this please let me know where it was from!
“Favourite place in Calgary”
A very basic hotel. If you want valet service, restaurant, pool, round-the-clock front desk service, etc this is not the place for you! It's a funky, modern boutique hotel in a good location. Rooms are bachelor suites with full kitchen facilities, good for a longer, self-contained stay. Grocery store across the street. Starbuck's two doors down. Liquor store next door.
“Comfort, convenience, and value”
Our studio style room included two beds, full kitchen and was quite cozy. The bathroom could use some upgrading but that was a minor detail. The day staff were very friendly and accommodating, while the hotel's location was in close proximity to a large grocery store and a few restaurants and shops.
“Calgary downtown hotel”
While the service from hotel staff was good we were disappointed to find the air conditioning not working in our room - it appeared to be working in the corridors. A portable air conditioning unit had been set up in the room but it was very noisy and made the room quite humid. Also, the water pressure in the shower was abysmal. Otherwise the room was well equipped with a kitchenette and washing machine. There was a large well stocked supermarket across the road and two Starbucks outlets within 1 min walk fromthe hotel.
