Enjoy a day in the sun at Cala del Aceite, a large beach in the vicinity of Conil de la Frontera. This golden-sand cove is backed by cliffs that shelter it from the wind and make a beautiful backdrop for a photo. As it is a little further away from the town than some other beaches along the coast, you can often expect to find it relatively quiet especially during the week.
Access the beach by descending the stairs that lead down from the clifftop. Set up your towel on the sand and soak up some sun, or head straight into the crystal-clear waters for a swim. Alternatively, join the windsurfers who take to the waves here when the conditions are right. Note that part of the beach is given over to nude sunbathers.
Because the beach is fairly remote, you won’t find too many facilities nearby. This is all part of its charming isolation, however. If you do find you want to spend more time here, consider staying at the campsite located close by. Find all the basics here, from a supermarket to bathrooms and a restaurant.
Drive southeast for just under 20 minutes and you will reach the postcard-perfect port town of Conil de la Frontera. With its winding lanes, pure white buildings and lovely historic center, this is an excellent place to be based. From here it is also easy to explore the Pueblos Blancos, or White Villages. These historic villages are among Andalucía’s greatest attractions. Discover historic Moorish architecture in Arcos de la Frontera or travel inland to take in breathtaking mountain vistas from Grazalema. Wherever you end up, expect quaint streets, appealing architecture and striking views.
Drive to Cala del Aceite in just under 2 hours from Seville. Come in the shoulder season to enjoy good weather with more breathing space. Remember to bring a picnic, as there is not much to eat in this quiet spot.
