Check in was at 2pm we arrived at 215pm and our room wasn't ready, we were offered an upgrade, but at $50 extra a night, or even a disabled room with 2 queen beds which is not what we booked, I refused, the girl at reception was apologetic however I wasn't happy because if checkout is at 11am there is no excuse for the room to not be ready when we arrive. 15 minutes later the room was available and we headed up. Nice and roomy and clean, overlooking the car park which was ok until we went to bed that night. We realised we were next door to a store room opposite the automatic opening doors, above the garage doors and next door to a storeroom! it was such a noisy night, but we handled it the next night the same thing happened. My husband complained to a young man called Alastair at the front desk and he was most apologetic and offered to move us to a marina view room however he warned us that it was coming to the weekend and there is a lot of music and people traffic on that side, or alternatively he could give us free breakfast for the next 3 mornings and a late checkout. I didn't want to repackage all my things and so accepted his second offer, but I do know for next time to ask to not get room 2004.
Upon arrival, I was tended to by one of the staff members, who advised me due to the full bookings, no early check ins. However I was given the option of having my luggage kept until it was time for check in- they put it away to the side. Checking in was at 2 PM and the access to the rooms was via central lifts; stairs are one way emergency. The standard room was pleasant, simple and very clean. The three night stay I had saw me sleep well thanks to a comfortable bed and the ambient temperature of the room- not too cold and not too hot. However, the iron provided was faulty and laundry facilities only have machine drying- many clothes are ill suited to machine drying. The hotel has a restaurant and bar that I only visited once for breakfast- nice selection of good food at a decent price point. The staff were overall helpful but from time to time, the desk is empty and you have to wait for staff to attend. The rooms need to have some more features- a minibar, dining sets and toaster should be standard, not just a kettle, mugs and glasses. Perhaps a microwave would be a nice feature as well. There was no pay TV/cable so I had to resort to 'making do' with free to air TV.
Very impressed on our midnight arrival to see a fridge in the lobby with complimentary milk needed for our 2 year old. The night staff was not the most welcoming person however the day staff was very pleasant.
Stayed an excellent 10 days here for a break from the big smoke. Great location - short walk to the town centre, and good for buses and a hire car place on the next block.
Will definitely stay here the next time I have a break in Cairns.

These apartments are very nice and comfy. The kitchen is stocked, laundry machines are in each apartment, decorations are light and welcoming, and even has a Jacuzzi bathtub. Stayed for one night. Is right across the street from the beach and near the playgrounds along the beach. About a 15min walk from the main restaurants and shops but in a quieter location. Great stay!
