“Haeundae Happiness”

I was very satisfied with my stay at the Haeundae Riviera Hotel. Very close to the beach (10 minute walk). It's located on the upper floors of a department store, so there are a few places to shop nearby. Great experience.

“Brief Busan Bio”

This was a decent hotel, right in the heart of the "Beach Area" of Busan. A few things were a bit worn, but it was clean, and the hotel staff were great. It's one of the taller hotels within a few blocks, so the view is pretty good as well. In terms of location, it's within walking distance to many of Busan's attractions. There's a good market street nearby as well, and the bus lines and subway lines aren't far off.

“Excellent location and value”

My teenage son and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in July 2010. The hotel is located 10 mins from Haeundae station and 5 mins from the beach and it's local market. The area is clean and surrounded by many eateries catering for both western and asian taste. Despite what you read about haeundae being expensive we found many places offering quality tasty food for just a fraction of what you'd pay for else where. Our room was clean and reasonably spacious with a balcony over looking the mountains. The double sliding doors kept the noises out and the heat. We were delighted with the value of the hotel as the others on the ocean strip were quite expensive. As a mother and a young son traveling together, I felt quite safe walking around the night on the beach and catching the metro to other sights. The area is family oriented and is popular with locals and tourists . Having said that, some might find the entry to the hotel a little concerning as it is situated at the back of the department store. As far as service was concerned I found the staff at the front desk polite and willing to help. Unfortunately, there was an occasion where they could have gone that little further but hadn't. Overall, I was very pleased with our hotel and we'll definitely stay there again if we ever have the chance to visit Busan again.

Area recommendations
Gwangalli Bridge at night for the magnificent view of the lighted bridge and the Jagalchi fish Market for the sight and smell of the sea. The local market at Haeundae and Kukje near Jagalchi. Remember to shop around before buying and practise your bargaining skills before-hand if you decide to shop at the markets as most items will not have a price tag. If you want to go for a swim at Haeundae, you can leave your belongings in lockers situated at the back of the beach in small tent like structures. There's usually a couple of ladies sitting outside. You can hire beach umbrellas and giant inflated tubes on the beach.
Getting around
We found Busan metro easy, cheap and safe to travel. Their taxis are cheap as well and in someways works out cheaper if there's a number of you. Head down to the tourist info. in front of beach for the map of busan and the metro map .You can also purchase an unlimited metro day ticket which workout cheaper than return.
