Perfectly placed s/c stay for Bristol.
For an economic, flexible, self-catering stay on Bristol’s doorstep The Orangery was ideal. Easy free parking and placed conveniently near The George pub and a regular bus service to the city centre. The ground floor flat is clean and spacious with all the equipment needed for a reasonable and comfortable stay. My only gripe would be - let’s have some quality pillows!

Hi Roger, thank you for your review which is really helpful. I am delighted with your comments and very interested in your view on the pillows, no one has commented on them before but we regularly replace the bedding and changing to a different pillow would be an easy fix. Currently all our bedding comes from the hotel supplier Mitre and we use their "Palace Hollowfibre Pillow". if you could suggest what you would think would be better, ideally from the Mitre range I would gladly consider it. The only stipulation is no feathers or down as we have some guests with allergies.

I’d like to have given at least 4 stars. Excellent location that is quiet, close to a pub, and convenient for both M5 and Bristol. Apartment is very well equipped. Owners are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, for us, it’s let down by the bathroom: a poor shower and a bizarre drainage system. Apart from that, it’s a very good place.

Hi Steven, thank you for providing such a detailed review it is good to know guests feel the Orangery Apartment is quiet, very well equipped and in an excellent location with the George Inn nearby. I was sorry to hear you were not happy with the shower and bathroom. I have checked the shower and replaced the shower head which I hope will increase the flow of water. In terms of the drainage system the bathroom is designed as a wet room with disabled guests in mind and the waste water from the shower is collected in a sump below the shower and then an electric pump raises the water to a level where it can drain away normally. This arrangement was professionally designed and fitted and I understand this is a common way of creating a wet room at ground floor level to enable disabled guests to stay at and enjoy the property . Whilst I appreciate this design is a bit of a compromise I see we do have a 100% satisfaction rating for accessibility on this site which is important to me.

Just back from a a lovely 3 day stay at the Orangery Apartment while visiting our daughter in Bristol.Nick was a very helpful host with lots of local information. It was a very last minute booking made very smooth by Nick's prompt reply and full instructions.A lovely quiet location and super easy access into Bristol. Thankyou

Great Stay
We had a great stay at the Orangery the apartment was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Nick and his wife very friendly and gave us good advice on places to visit in the area and some history on the building, Very good bus service into Bristol or Portishead bus stop just at end of the road. Would recommend if you are planning to visit the area

The Orangery is within a beautiful gothic style building.The apartment itself is spacious, and has everything you need, including a washer/dryer and dishwasher, plus complimentary tea, coffee and milk. Towels were also supplied. Would highly recommend staying here if in the area. Its on a main bus route too which means you wont have to drive into Bristol centre.

Mixed feelings writing this.
Served it’s purpose but the rooms were dated, no privacy without shutting shutters, shower was weirdest contraption known to man and the tv is WAY too high on the wall. Bed was very comfy, plenty of towels, well equipped kitchen and the coffee was a nice touch. Mixed feelings about this property but I grew up in the hospitality industry and used to manage an award winning complex so perhaps I set my expectations too high. Great location and stunning building to look at though!!! Owners definitely try hard, could do with a little updating.

We want to maintain high standards and you are the first person to comment on the TV height and we will keep this under review with a view to lowering it. We restored the original shutters and used Heritage paints with a satin finish to try and recreate the original Victorian colours and look with a date of 1850 in mind and I will put a note in the information pack to explain this. and we hope to see you again one day

Quite a spacious property and comfortable bed.Handy for the bus into Bristol. Kitchen is set quite high so hard to reach dishwasher and microwave for shorter people. Overall enjoyed our stay.

Friendly and helpful welcome. The Orangery was great for my purposes and more flexible than staying in a hotel. I liked that it enabled me to self cater and relax. Good space and size and all very comfortable. Great location to access Clifton, walks and motorway. Will stay longer next time. Thanks.

We were met on arrival and had a nice chat to Nick who told us about the history of the building etc. The apartment was well located to Bristol and Clifton village, and we also used the George Inn, literally 100 yards away. It made a pleasant change from hotels to this apartment and additionally the ability to use the sofa bed for our daughter. We had a great stay.

Very interesting building and good location for accessing M5 and Bristol by road. Kitchen well provided for with all gadgets and cooking implements you might need. Very quiet and comfy bed, so good nights sleep each night.

Lovely place to stay just outside Bristol. The orangery is part of a very interesting building. To go into Bristol for the day it's easy to use a taxi, costs about £20 for a return journey. Local pubs are available, one is very close, however like some of the attractions in Bristol itself they may be closed on a Sunday and Monday. Very enjoyable trip and extremely comfortable bed.

Lovely location
This was a lovely old building. I was greeted and then shown around the property to where everything was and also tips on takeaways and the pub which is of course always good to know. The apartment was very clean and the bed was very comfy. Only two downsides was that the wifi wasnt brilliant, struggled to stream the likes of Netflix, and the shower was very noisy, seemed to be a buzzing a lot from the pipes once turned on.

The owner meet me when i arrive and he is really nice and friendly, he showed me around and explained everything I need to know and also told me about the history of the building. The apartment is very well furnished with everything you need for your stay and the furnishing are in keeping with the age of the property The apartment is very clean and tidy and i would say very Covid-19 secure I will be returning when i am next in Bristol for business or pleasure

Spotlessly clean, and well equipped kitchen. Tea, milk, coffee and little treat were welcome touches. Characterful and quirky, access to the orangery was nice, and would be perfect in the spring and summer for pre dinner drinks or sitting quietly with a book. (We went in damp cold October, so we didnt fulfil that ambition!). Lovely and quiet, and perfect location for visiting surrounding area. Nick our host was very helpful and interesting about the history, Ive dropped a couple of points, for the following reasons, but they didnt really bother us, so Ive probably been a bit harsh, and I dont mean to be, we really liked it here... 1. The shower has a very loud pump which grinds away while you're having your shower. Shower pressure is a little low, so great if you're an eco showerer, not so great if you want a waterfall! 2. Wallpaper peeling in one place in bedroom - bit of pritt stick would fix this quickly. 3. Storage heaters and plenty of electric radiators meant that the house was nice and warm, but if like us, you didnt want to keep them on all the time, you might want to take your slippers to keep your feet warm. That's it. Stay here if you get the chance, you wont regret it. Thank you Nick for sharing with us.

Lovely, well maintained apartment, which was well kiited out. The owners were very welcoming. The only very minor downside was, being part of a vey old and historic property, the unit was quite chilly, even when the temperature outside was in the high 20s C. But there were plug in heaters in every room. And sitting in the flower filled orangery just outside the flat was very pleasant after a days sightseeing.
