Very disappointed- poor facilities
Shower didn’t work- mentioned it at check out and was told I didn’t see t he lever- there was no lever, it didn’t work. Travelled enough to know how to use a shower. No toiletries (maybe because shower doesn’t work) No plug sockets by the bed No cups for the tea/ coffee The bed was comfy, room was nice but let down by poor facilities

We are so sorry that you experienced a couple of hiccups. Thankfully with so many positive reviews this doesn’t seem to happen very often.There is a subtle but important difference between the “shower not working” and “not knowing how to work the shower”. I agree there is no lever and this was explained to you. There is a collar on the shower hose and when lifted the shower comes on. I tried it immediately after you departed and all was well. There is a large jar of shower and body wash in each room and again on checking, it was on the shelf by the sink.There are plug sockets by the bed but they are tucked away behind the bed itself. The side lights are plugged into these sockets. There are others in the room.Yes, there was a missing cup ( my wife has been suitably berated) but was replaced within seconds of this being pointed out.Again, apologies for your disappointment.

A Super Stay 5☆
What a super place to stay,lovely big double room with quLity bedding,good heating. Plenty of Tea & coffee etc. Bathroom super clean with big bath sheet that had a lovely smell to them. What a Breakfast,everything you could think of was on offer.I had a full english which was plentful and beautifully cooked and presented.The hosts could not do enough for me it was fantastic.

Cosy Country Manor House
A cozy bed awaits your arrival at Sodbury House - an old Country Manor House situated in Old Sodbury. I felt more like a house guest than a paying guest as Guy and his wife made me so welcome. Spacious room with high ceilings overlooking the countryside and super comfy bed with a cosy duvet to wrap myself up in at night. On site parking. Yummy full breakfast with a wide selection to choose from and a delicious filter coffee for you coffee snobs out there! (Me included!) Reasonably priced so why would you want to stay in Chain Hotel. Guy's knowledge of the area and amenities enabled me to have a very enjoyable stay. Just a short walk down the road from The Dog which serves a wide variety of food for lunch and dinner. Highly recommend.

This property has an older cottage style which offers a cosy charm. Room 2 has a huge kingsize bed, with beautiful linen.

Warm welcome cold room
The welcome was warm, the condition of the room was good but even with the radiator on full the room was very cold to the point you could feel the chill coming off the walls. Would be an excellent place to stay in the summer. Breakfast was excellent.

Most disappointed to hear that the room wasn’t up to temperature. I sincerely wish you had mentioned it at the time and I could have pointed out the electric fan heater. As well as all bedrooms being fully centrally heated, they also all have electric fan heaters. We realise that on particularly cold days and nights some guests may prefer the room a little warmer and these have always been found to be more than adequate. May I also say that if you are the gentleman whose job is to offer advice on Govt.grants and insulation types, then any tips on keeping 200 year old, 2’ thick, solid stone walls insulated would be greatly received!! Glad that you enjoyed breakfast and hopefully see you again sometime in the future. Assuring our best intentions at all times, Kindest regards Guy

A very enjoyable stay.
Very welcoming and friendly. The hotel had everything needed for a comfortable stay and they had all safety and hygiene measures in place which was reassuring at this time of covid 19. Nothing was too much trouble for Guy and Ellie; they went out of their way to be helpful and provided useful information about the area. Excellent breakfast and the Dog Inn nearby is good for evening meals.
