Lovely clean friendly hotel. Excellent room and bathroom with a walk-in shower. Breakfast buffet was the best I can remember having with a great selection and quality produce.

Brilliant overnight stay
Friendly reception staff, great atmosphere in the hotel.. we needed a phone charger, this was provided without hesitation.. Facilities excellent. Lovely breakfast with an incredible choice of foods to suit all tastes. Would definitely recommend and return. F

I have stayed in this hotel several times but this time it seemed to have lost its edge. The lounge area was dirty with dust on the decorative shelves, and it all seemed shabby. My room (219) was ok, but nothing special. For the money i paid i would have expected a safe and a small refrigerator. There were two double beds and we used only one, but could not get comfortable as it had a double sized duvet and the most enormous ill fitting duvet cover i have ever seen. Consequently, everything felt loose and uncomfortable. My final moan is about the bathroom. The sink plug did not work and the sink did not hold water. Why had this not been reported by one of the cleaners? And finally, when are hotels going to put a safety grab handle on the wall above the bath. How do they expect elderly people who want to shower, to step into the bath safely without something to hold onto ? It defies belief, and where do you hang your towels after you have washed and dried yourself, there are no hooks anywhere ! Not good for a hotel that classifies itself as 4 star !

Staff were brilliant and helpful! Went to the gym also in my stay anf the staff there just as helpful and great. room massive and comfortable socket at the side of my bed didn't work room 120 but not end of the world

In need of a good manager
This hotel had so much going for it yet failed to deliver. Our first task on arrival was to re-make the bed! This was no easy task as neither the sheets nor the duvet cover were the right size for the bed. We had no bedside light on one side of the bed and our key card needed re-programming on each night of our 4 night stay! We had a telephone beside the bed, but it wasn’t attached to anything. Neither was the TV! Was there anything good? Yes, super friendly young staff and very good breakfasts. The hotel was just tired and needed management to step up to the plate.

Amazing staff!!
The staff at this hotel are superb! We had an eventful time on this trip. Our son fell very ill just prior to our arrival. We aren’t local and didn’t know where the hospital was. He needed immediate first aid when we arrived while we waited for an ambulance. A superbly trained staff member (Alex) came to our assistance immediately and took control of the situation until help arrived. He was fantastic. Both calm and skilled. I stayed with my son overnight in the hospital. My wife and daughter were so well looked after by every staff member they encountered back at the hotel. They were incredibly considerate. Thankfully my son was discharged late the next day. We returned to the Holiday Inn for an unplanned second night to recover from our ordeal before heading home. Service levels often make a huge difference when electing a hotel. This one is outstanding.

Very friendly and helpful staff
Staff were all very helpful and very friendly. Receptionist was very efficient and helpful when I asked to move rooms due to connecting rooms and noise. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful.

The room is very outdated, not clean and handbasin was blocked. Despite complaining about it at the reception, the technique suggested by the receptionist on how to open the sink outlet didnt work. The receptionist was really sympathetic and tried to offer another room but there was none available. Found hair strands on the intercom and used cotton bud by the TV. Facilities were good but overall not a nice experience.

Great location situated for a variety of places to visit whilst staying for work! Rooms were a little dated and around kettles a bit of dust. A few holes in the wall etc. Otherwise everything else was perfect! Gym and pool was a nice addition to use out of working time. Food was great and breakfast was by far the best level I have seen in a chain hotel for a while. Service was amazing particularly Gemma who was working at the bar/restaurant during the stay. Plenty of car park space.

Really nice hotel
Really nice hotel with very friendly staff. And it’s great to have use of the swimming pool. Breakfast was also good with lots of choice. The hotel is just off the motorway but you wouldn’t know it when you’re there because it's a lovely setting.

Receptionist overlooked that I had already paid and was going to charge me again, then apologised for his error, when he found my payment. Dirty cups in the bathroom with lipstick marks clearly visible on them. No vegetarian option at breakfast.
