We needed a last minute stay for an equestrian event in Blowing Rock. Ridgeway was clean and quiet, exactly what we needed for the night. Bedding and mattresses are brand new and very comfortable. It seems that there have been many updates made to the property with more to come. I would definitely stay here again!

Motel was in nice area of beautiful little town. Beds were comfortable. Heating in hotel lobby area was broken, so we could not gather in communal living area with our friends who also stayed at the motel. Apparently, plug in heaters were available but manager would not allow them due to safety fire hazard concerns.

STAY AWAY. I had booked a room for one night. I walked in, smelled the mildew, heard the wind blowing through the doorway, and decided that this was no way to vacation. This property is nothing what the pictures show.

If you had stopped at the lobby before leaving in such a rush we would have happily accommodated you with another room that met your expectations. The location was the primary reason we chose this property. We easily walked to dining and shops. We feld the price was a good value and liked that this "hotel" was fully refundable and no deposit was required for reservation. The beds were comfortable and we had a nice stay overall. The negative for our experience, when we checked in, one of our rooms smelled like a musty basement. Originally we were offered some disinfecant wipes to cover the smell. After talking to front desk about my concerns with mold, we were offered a downgraded room, which turned out fine. It wasn't as nice but at least it wasn't musty. The other thing I thought was odd was that the lobby would only be open between 8a-8p and only if there was a staff person to work it. This was during a really busy weekend. We were also told that there was no housekeeping over the weekend but if we needed something to let them know a day ahead or call the emergency number. We probably would not stay at any of the Village Inns again if we visited Blowing Rock again.

Ok room, but parking issue during busy season
The room was not as nice as I was expecting when looking at the pictures, but was fine for mostly just using the room to shower and sleep. The most frustrating thing was when we checked in they said there may be issues with parking and that night when we got to the hotel at midnight there were no spots. We had to park blocks away and walk in the dark. I understand you can't control non-residence parking there, but obviously you have had issues in the past if that is one of the main comments when checking in. Also understand it is a bigger issue during the day due to the volume of people, but since the majority of things in the city are closed by midnight, if not all, there shouldn't be an issue with parking unless you are allowing rooms to have multiple cars. I complained to the front desk and they game me an email to communicate with but haven't heard back yet!

Can’t beat the location. We’ve stayed here before. Some deferred maintenance but it’s old so I don’t take objection. The staff were great! Parking spaces are tight so take the little car. Again, it’s all about the location. We stayed in 102 this time and you could hear every footstep above. But the room itself was great.

Not a pleasant experience
My husband and I decided on fairly short notice to take a midweek break in Blowing Rock. The place we normally stay was fully booked so we looked for options at a similar price point. This led us to the Ridgeway Inn. First the good news. The location is very convenient to Main Street and the room was clean. Now the not so good. When we checked in the TV was not working. The desk attendant went to our room but could not get it to work. Later that evening we asked if we could switch to the room next door and were told that the inn was sold out. That turned out to be not the case as that room remained empty for the two nights we were there. Our room (#112) has two bedside tables but only one had a lamp so reading in bed for one person was out of the question. The heating unit was an interior wall mounted space heater with a fan that sounded like an idling diesel engine. Since it was chilly the nights we were there the unit kicked on multiple times a night interrupting sleep which was hard enough given a mattress that is long past needing replacement (as are the towels). Maybe Room 112 is an outlier but I wouldn’t waste my money trying to find out.

On your next stay you might consider renting one of our nicer rooms that are more like condos or apartments. These upgraded rooms have central heating and air and are much more open and spacious, which sounds more like what you are looking for. Feel free to call in with any questions about these rooms and we would be happy to help find the right fit for you!
