Excellent, but different
The cottage is fab and has everything you need for an amazing holiday. Just follow the instructions supplied and you will get there. The drive from the main gate to the cottage might seem daunting, but as long as you go slow... you can easily make it! The cottage is great, but not for the fait of heart. For the ones like me that are more physically challenged the hill/incline to go in and out was tough, but worth it to be in the middle of nowhere. The fire log is your 'lifeline' to warmth and hot water, so make sure you know how to operate. The hosts are great so in any doubt ask them! The beds are the most comfortable thing! They even have blankets made of real wool! Big people be aware that one of the main double is on the 'slimmer' size.

Wonderful cottage
I booked this cottage for my two kids and I for a week at Easter. Wow, what a lovely little gem. From the moment we got out of the car, the kids loved every minute. The owners had already got the fire going, so once we arrived the cottage was nice and toasty. Theres so much information provided in the folders inside the property, and so much to do within the locality. The walks, waterfalls, steam train and even the private garden, all add to the charm of this cottage. We will definitely be back.

Perfect off-grid escape in beautiful countryside with plenty to do
Our family of 5 (kids 11, 9, 7) and dog had a fantastic stay in this quaint off-grid cottage. An ideal location for exploring the mountains of Snowdonia and the nearby beaches. We loved the remoteness of the cottage, the peaceful surroundings and the cosy wood burning stove at the end of each day’s adventures. The cottage was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The owner was very responsive to questions before booking, all information was very clear and check in process really simple.

Beautiful property and location
We had a week at the cottage earlier this month, the cottage is secluded in a beautiful location, with lots of walks right from the doorstep and a good location for exploring Snowdonia. The hosts were brilliant and helped us out with some car troubles. Also perfect if you have a dog that doesn't like other dogs as we hardly saw any all week.

Unique setting in Snowdonia Forest
My family and I had a fantastic week in your fantastic cottage despite everything the Welsh weather could throw at us. The upside to the precipitation was the beauty of the lower level vallys with their waterfalls and rivers. Hopefully get back down soon.

Lovely cottage, gorgeous scenery
Wonderful time had by all. The drive to the cottage through the woods is crazy but fun. We loved having the swimming lakes so close to use our paddle board. Wonderful hikes and close to zip world. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable.

Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tale
I think we just stayed in the woodchoppers house from snow white or was it where Goldilocks lay sleeping in the 3 bears cottage. Either way this is straight out of a fairy tale. Maybe a Hans Christian Andersen story. A little stone cottage, surrounded by woodland with stone steps leading down to it, smoke coming from the chimney. If you are looking for state of the art, mod cons, sleek & modern - scroll on. This will not be for you. It's a little worn, it could do with a bathroom update - but none of this matters. It's clean, it's comfy it's cosy. Nothing matches but it's wonderful. I didn't enjoy the drive up and down to the cottage,to be honest, but my husband did, giggling with excitement, so I just didn't look. Come here for relaxation, walks, nature, find your inner adventure and enjoy all things natural at their finest. Thank you for the de- stress and taking my mind of this chaotic world for a moment.

Totally private/secluded cottage in a former country estate
We stayed for a week in early June, and it was hot outside. The slate cottage though stayed cool with the velux and windows open, providing a cool breeze. Totally private, with the very occasional walkers walking past above. The steps down to the cottage are quite steep, but if you take it steady it isn't a problem, unless you have quite poor mobility. The drive to the cottage through the track is fine if you are a confident driver, if you are nervous you might not enjoy it. The information pack was splendid. Our dog is reactive to other dogs, so a whole week of virtually no dogs to worry about was bliss. Be aware that there is cattle in the estate, so keep your dog on lead when out and about. We even had one Belted Galloway bull get in the garden, which was brilliant. We had to get the owners to entice him out into the pasture.

Very enjoyable time. Cottage located in beautiful area, with plenty of walks and scenery to enjoy on your doorstep. Hosts very welcoming. Only real negative being an unreasonable cleaning charge added at the end of our stay, otherwise very a pleasant trip.

Great retreat
Just as described. Really liked the way it had been furnished and decorated in keeping with its surroundings. Hardly used the car as so many walks direct from the door. Owners ' instructions very clear and precise. The only thing I struggled with were the very hard mattresses, but that's probably my back's problem rather than a failing of the cottage! Perfect for anyone who wants to get away from it all.

Relaxing location
Lovely secluded cottage in a very rural location. The track up to the cottage is not easy to drive ,and the steps down to the cottage are about 20 in number and steep towards the bottom but this helps to create an even more secluded feel. If you enjoy nature and being in the wilderness then there is a high chance you’ll enjoy this place.

Splendid Rural Retreat
This is the ideal property if you want to get away from it all, and enjoy the benefits of dark skies and true peace and quiet, whilst being close enough to the National Park to make the most of the outstanding scenery on offer. We enjoyed cosy nights with the wood-burning stove, playing card games and having fireside chats, rather than watching TV or being tied to a screen!

Beautiful Hideaway
We loved our stay at this quaint little cottage. The dogs adored all the space particularly. It's a basic property but that's all you need if you're the sort of people who want a getaway from it all holiday with plenty of outdoor activities, which we did.

August 13th - 20th
A beautiful and peaceful setting, surrounded by nature and within walking distance of the closest swimming lake. A great location from which to explore this diverse region. Beautiful beaches, mountains, waterfalls and castles to name but a few, all within a half hour drive. The house itself has everything you need but more importantly lacks everything you don't need. A real break from the day to day to reconnect with the simple things. Highly recommended.

Idyllic woodland cottage holiday
The cottage & it’s surroundings are stunning. The peace & quiet the woodland walks, the Ffestiniog railway made our stay like living in Enid Blyton's ‘the Enchanted wood’ book. It was utterly charming & cosy. The weather was on our side so we didn’t need hot showers, Luke warm was fine however if in winter & there’s a family of 6 it might become a little tricky as the water cylinder is small. A toaster would’ve been very handy as the grill isn’t great. But that’s the only criticism as the Snowdonia national park is beautiful. The people are incredibly friendly. We have come away with love in our hearts. Everyone must experience the Welsh countryside at some point coz it’s amazing. Nature at its finest.

Peaceful and Lovely
We all really enjoyed our week's stay, a relaxing, back to basics, escape from reality. The place is charming and the walks from the cottage where beautiful. Loved hearing the Ffestiniog Steam Trains from the patio and you can walk to the Halt to watch them chuff past! Great location for Snowdonia and all it offers. Always fun making log fires on holiday!

Beautiful rural cottage
We absolutely enjoyed this experience, cottage is located deep in the forest In a beautiful setting, the cottage has everything you need, lovely to relax in front of log burner after exploring or outside with campfire, it is so relaxing and beautiful waterfalls everywhere you go. This is only ideal for fit active people as nearest pub/restaurant 30 mins away walking and it is very steep hill walking back. Cannot wait to return, already miss it. One thing I would of liked is a TV, just for when too cold to sit out, would be nice to chill with fire and TV, we do read and draw too but nice to have option. Would recommend

The most perfect week!
It is not possible to put into words how beautiful and peaceful the setting is for this lovely little stone cottage. The cottage is perfectly formed, the fire stove kept us toasty and the bed was comfy- it had all we needed to cook and relax. The most relaxing week, thank you!

Another great holiday at Hafod, location excellent for a get away from it experience, it is easy to visit the mountains or beaches. The walks around the valley are fab. So peaceful. Comfortable property with plenty of charactor.

Beautiful location & cottage
We had a wonderful holiday. There is so much beauty all around!! Walks, cycling, lake swimming, train rides all from the doorstep. Then a short drive to gorgeous stretches of sandy beaches.......so much to see & do. The cottage was homely and warm, we had all we needed. The tv wasn't missed at all, we were so tired from all the walking and relaxed by the ability to just 'switch off' from normal life that we would play a few games in the evening & be off to bed by 10!! We were worried about the drive up to the cottage initially, but the instructions were so clear that we were fully prepared. The first trip up was a tiny bit nerve wracking but only because of crossing the train line (we needn't have worried at all as the train gives you plenty of warning when approaching) the opening of the gates & crossing the line became something we looked forward to!!! It really was a holiday to remember.

Beautiful location, fantastic facilities
Going into this holiday I was concerned about the stove-operated hot water and electricity generator, but neither posed any issues whatsoever. The cottage is located in a beautiful part of Wales and it was an absolute pleasure to stay there. Additionally, the landlord was very kind and helpful. Throughly recommend to anyone looking for a back-to-basics escape in a beautiful part of the world.

A complete get away.
Lovely cottage in a stunning setting. The cottage has beautiful welsh slate, wooden floors and a log burner for the chilly evenings but best of all no internet or tv so you can complete step away from the busy world and engage with the fabulous woods around you and breath deeply. What a fantastic place!
We had an amazing week staying at Hafod. A beautiful cottage in a beautiful place. The track leading up to the cottage just added to the excitement and feeling of getting away from it all. The owners were friendly and helpful, but also left us to enjoy our week. It was so relaxing with no TV and no WiFi. The cottage was clean and comfortable and has everything you need. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to do it!

Peaceful getaway
What a wonderful cottage. We stayed with our two small dogs. The cottage was clean and well equipped and very tastefully decorated. It was so lovely to open the door and let the dogs run without their leads. I would recommend the beach walks but the ffestiniog valley is stunning, such beautiful views. Keep an eye out for the Welsh Dragon in the woods!! Hubby did go for a swim in the lake and loved it, just a little too cold for me. We hope to return again soon.

Wonderful week in a very special place
Lovely week. Cottage is very comfortable and it's setting in an ancient oak forest is amazing. Fantastic place for dogs and children. The track is fine, takes about 8 minutes.

We had a lovely week at Hafod. Cottage was just as expected and in a beautiful location. Our 3yo loved it as much as we did and the new cows were an extra bonus! Noelle was a great host and we didn’t need for anything really. Will certainly visit again.

The perfect idyll
Complete and utter bliss I never knew I could enjoy Welsh weather so much!! It was like a mini retreat with cold water swimming just round the corner and no other swimmers !! Would love to return 🙂
