Super place to stay, fab service, beautiful hotel

Posted 10-Feb-2015
Pros: Beautiful hotel, with lovely large rooms, and exceptional service. Free parking, free (and fast) wifi.
Cons: There is a big TV in the bar - and it always seems to be loud and have the football on, it brings the place down a bit :(
Location: You can go for long walks in the countryside, Guildford is within reach, Gatwick is a 25 min drive. Nice pubs in the area, like The Dolphin.
Hartsfield Manor is a super place to stay, I've been there before, and every time, it is an absolute pleasure. The service is always excellent, friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is warm, inviting and friendly, the rooms are beautifully decorated and quiet. The surrounding area is lovely old English countryside, green and historic, and Hartsfield Manor has it's own grounds where you can go for a walk. The bar has a nice menu in the evenings, I like the steak and chips. I didn't have the breakfast this time, only due to being too busy, I have had it before though and found it excellent. It's a very peaceful environment, in the middle of the countryside, where you can really just breathe out and relax, with no noise around, except for birdsong. Lovely at night also, is that it is so pitch black, that you can see a sky blanketed with stars. I love staying at this hotel, it's my home away from home...and I will be staying there again in the near future. For this price, it's really unbeatable. Free parking is good, and the free WIFI worked very well, was easy to set up, and gave a fast service. Depending on where you are in the building, you can also sometimes pick up 4G, which is a bonus. I was in the Annexe, it was quiet, lovely large room, with big glass doors to its own terrace. Thank you to the team at Hartsfield Manor for a lovely stay, and I will see you again soon.

Very different room to the advert on Hotel.com

Posted 19-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Whilst the Hotel.com photo showed a very nice room, the initial room allocated was a disabled room, very basic and attached in an annex to the Manor. The restaurant was not opened the first night of the stay due to too few guests. We recommend the near by pub for a decent meal out. Beds were very average - we both ached the next day both nights of the stay.

One night at Hartsfield Manor

Posted 06-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
On arrival, there was a notice at reception to say that one could have a full English breakfast for a certain price if it was booked at the time of checking in, and the receptionist did not know the price of continental breakfast but said she was sure it was less. In the event it was the same price and I think that the receptionist should have had that information. The single room had a very comfortable bed at least one metre wide, so good for a tall person, or a large one. My one complaint, if I have one is that the bathroom towel rail did not work so the bathroom was on the cool side and also the bathroom fan was noisy and needed a good clean. It was on the ground floor in a modern wing built on to the Victorian mansion, obviously constructed with business people in mind, as the wing looks on to a strip of grass with a high wall about 5 metres away, so it is not at all the same as staying in the main part of the hotel, but given the reasonable cost is good value. Because of its country location it is also quiet.

Make sure you get a room in the main house

Posted 01-Dec-2014 on Hotels.com
Our room was in the cottage annex near the gate and no heating had been switched on in the room on a cold November night. It took 40 mins for a duty manager to come and bring 2 small heaters oil filled. I asked that we be house in the main hotel and was told it was full. About an hour later after totally spoiling our evening they rang and told us we could move to the main hotel. The room was better warmer but the bathroom was awful. Tiny shower cubicle only Big crack in the sink and so narrow and small, Didnt eat there. No one one reception in the morning either so we left the key and the complaint form!

Pleasant staff & food. Accommodation lets it down

Posted 27-Nov-2014 on Hotels.com
The staff were very pleasant and attentive and the food was good. Unfortunately some of the rooms are in an annexe which is more architectually akin to a 1980s university halls of residence than a 4* hotel. The rooms weren't particularly well appointed (the TV had to be switched off on the set as the remote didn't work property, there was no shaver socket and the cleat for the Roman blind was coming off). Nothing major, but not what you'd expect from a "luxury" hotel.

Cons: Menus could be put in the rooms for room service and snacks!
Computer glitch meant that this Hotel was Overbooked, so had to be moved to Horsley Park!
