Hotel receptionist unfriendly and unwelcoming.

Posted 15-Oct-2014
Pros: Beautiful building, set in lovely surroundings. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The food was excellent.
Cons: Friendlier reception staff. lighting on outside of the lodge.
Location: Location was semi rural. Gardens were lovely, we did not explore the surrounding location as we were continuing on our journey.
We had been put in the lodge part of the hotel, which was unmanned, no porch light, so very dark on the outside. Our room, although very comfortable had the heating jammed on, so we were unable to turn it off, this made the room far too hot. It was a long way from the main hotel, it was raining and a very long winding road which lead to the hotel was poorly lit. for these reasons we transferred to the main hotel, which had plenty of empty rooms, unfortunately we had to pay extra £20 extra per room, which i felt was a cheek as there were plenty of spaces in the main hotel. we dined in the hotel, the food was superb, and the young waiter excellent. breakfast was also excellent. the same receptionist was on duty in the morning, and was still unfriendly and unwelcoming. Think she is in the wrong job!

Sunday night stopover.

Posted 06-Oct-2014
Pros: Unbeatable value for money when staying on a Sunday night.
Cons: Work out room.
Location: Lovely setting in a very nice part of the World.
For the rate paid for a Sunday night, I can have zero complaints. Excellent value for money in comparison to the competition.

Nice hotel & grounds

Posted 30-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Driving up to the hotel is lovely, lovely grounds & big old house! Big reception area & stairways & would be great for weddings. Warm welcome & informative. Was told our room was out of the building & in a building to the right. It looked a bit like the chalets at butlins or student accommodation! But actual room was clean, modern & spacious as was the bathroom. We ate out in reigate at gurkas kitchen which was fantastic then went back for drinks at the hotel bar, lovely atmosphere, nice decor. Slept well, nice views over the grounds. Didn't have breakfast. Checked out no problem. Would stay again.

Given wrong room

Posted 24-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic and arrived very late around 1am. We went straight to bed but in the morning realised that we had been given a large single bed rather than a double. The hotel said there was nothing that could be done about it. We had to leave for our flight so took it no further but it wasn't the best start to our holiday. The hotel itself looked very nice although our room was in the new extension not the old building seen on the pictures.

The Lodge.

Posted 20-Aug-2014
Pros: This was second stay. On previous visit was in main hotel but appreciate this not always possible with special offers. The facilities are very good .
Cons: The parking at Lodge and decoration of stairs area.
Location: We were visiting relatives so not concerned with things to do. However the location is excellent.
Room fine but parking and distance from facilities of hotel were a great inconvenience. However overall it was good value .

Pleasant Stay

Posted 03-Aug-2014
Pros: It was conveniently located
Location: We went to see Tom Jones at Sandown race course - it was great.
We stayed for one night following a concert, so didn't really make much use of the facilities but the room was nice, if a bit hot. I think this is more of a 'business stay' hotel but it is in a wonderful location.

Restaurant worth a visit

Posted 27-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
Although the room was in a student type annexe, it was surprisingly comfortable and quiet. The surroundings and main house are lovely and worth the stay. We had a really lovely meal in the restaurant with friendly and excellent service from the staff. It is used mainly for business customers, so they did seem to be a greater priority to the reception staff, but it was still a very nice stay.

Good Service

Posted 17-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
I'm been coming to this hotel for many years and the service has improved - its good to see some friendly faces when I arrive. If you are allocated a room in The Lodge its a bit of a walk from the main hotel but the rooms are larger and better maintained. Hotel could probably do with a lick of paint but for business accomodation its good. Food in the bar is excellent as is the breakfast and the service has always been excellent. Starting to get a little expensive for the condition DeVere so you need to be careful as there are alternatives at a lower room rate that are in better condition.
