A shame the kitchen was closed as in every other respect this was a first class property. Not for people who want modern bricks and concrete but outstanding for those who like atmosphere and charm. Amazing value for money Staff could not have been more helpful

Superb
What a lovely hotel. A thoroughly enjoyable break for a weekend away. Having dinner in the lounge with a roaring fire on a very stormy autumn night was a treat. Room was massive with comfortable bed, large bathroom. Breakfast was delicious with copious amounts of delicious food. Want a treat, go on, do it.

The exterior of the hotel was impressive but I felt the interior was tired and dated. The menus for both the bar and restaurant were the same. My stay was for 2 nights and I ate our on one of them. The staff were very good especially the lady at breakfast who was very chatty and welcoming. I stayed here due to the photos and proximity to were I had to go and for such a short stay it was fine but I would not entertain staying for longer.

More efficiency required by booking staff
Booked for a two night stay, visiting family, have stayed at this Hotel a few times previously and have been very satisfied however on this occasion, we were given a room Number 25 above a Marquee were a Wedding was being held, the music was very loud and went on until 11.00 pm then guests still remained in the Marquee talking until past midnight, followed by staff clearing and clean the Marquee next morning. We did complain and the next day we were allocated a room change to a quieter part of the Hotel as there would be another Wedding on that day. The question is why did the Hotel not allocate these rooms above the Marquee to the Wedding Guests, asking the question when guests either booked or on arrival and not give out rooms to other guests not with the Wedding Party, this is surely not rocket science and a little trouble taken with the allocation of rooms would have saved complaints later. Apart from this problem, both rooms we stayed in were clean and spacious, the staff were very friendly and helpful especially in the changing of rooms, breakfasts were very good and staff in dining room were attentive considering that there were a lot of guests on both days. We would stop at this Hotel again but would have to ask the question as to what room we would be given if a Wedding was on, but this question should not be necessary if booking and allocation of rooms were carried out correctly and with a little consideration for guests not in the Wedding Party.

There was a wedding on Saturday which kept us all night, boom, boom until 12 midnight. Then there was a food night on Friday just to get the pizzas all over place. The room was to small, I won’t be back.

This was my second visit and I enjoyed it again. It's an old, friendly hotel that makes you feel more like a guest than a client, and its facilities were fine for me. What I like is that it's an honest hotel. It's not pretentious, and it doesn't offer more than it can deliver. On a Sunday night there was a bit of a queue for food, but that was to be expected and was clearly explained. I shall certainly use it again.

The bed was very hard, so I found it difficult to get comfortable. The shower requires more light, and the ceiling could do with some refurbishment. Over all it was a pleasant experience and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful

A very nice building and surroundings. The interior is quite dated and period but i felt that it was in keeping with the premises and quite nostalgic actually. I would definitely stay again.

It was okay
I needed a bed for the night and this filled the bill. The room was adequate. Bed was fine. Water was hot. Didn’t use any of the facilities. However, one of my neighbours snored like a sawmill for most of the night. Good for them having a great sleep to the detriment of others.

Great stay
Short stay for a Family get together, have stayed here before, staff always friendly, helpful and efficient. Room was comfortable, warm and clean and equipped with everything we needed and much more. Breakfast's were excellent, hot and well presented, a special mention to waitress Michelle who was very attentive, not just to us but all the guests and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommended Hotel and will definitely stay here again on our future visits to the Midlands.

Rooms are poor value for money
Stayed one night in March for a party. Check-in was smooth. Staff quite professional. Grounds nicely kept. Communal areas are clean. Room 8 was disappointing for the money; pokey little room with dated, damaged furniture, and the double bed seemed very small. The en-suite on initial appearance was quite smart, but on closer inspection needs maintenance; the rolling door pushes away from the wall, the taps move when turning on/off, the shower controls were hard to use because the handle/grip had gone missing and been replaced with a screw. The room was tolerated for the night but couldn’t stay in it for any longer. Breakfast was adequate; self serve cereal, croissants, juice etc. You are then (slowly) served tea/coffee and your breakfast is cooked to order. Just as we were finally feeling like we were getting a little more for our money, it was short lived, as the breakfast served was over-cooked… Might as well have just been a buffet. At over £85 a night I expected much better. I thought Best Western was supposed to be a decent brand, but you get much better value and quality in a Premier Inn or Travelodge if Weston Hall is anything to go by.

Good welcome awaits.
Historic Grade 2 hotel, which stands in its own grounds. We arrived slightly early and went to room, awaiting the heating to come on at 4pm. Went to very tired bar area to warm up. Staff were very friendly, and welcoming thoughtout our stay. Food excellent. Overnight room was comfortable.

We were in the executive room as it was the largest, overall it was ok, but the room was very cold, the bed was comfy, but the sofa has seen better days, the shower rail was extremely loose and the temperature is set, no adjustment for hot/cold available. And because the room was directly above the restaurant the door to the kitchen kept banging every time staff went in and out which was very loud and annoying during the evening and woke us up at 7am each morning! Evening meals were okay but not brilliant and breakfast was a let down, they have a new chef who I think is into 'pretty' meals as opposed to substantial meals! The hotel itself is in a lovely setting but really needs some money spending on it as it is starting to look very run down.

The hotel was conveniently situated on the edge of a village with beautiful surrounding grounds. The room itself was tiny and not at all adequate for a couple. The standard double bed was pushed up against a wall which is ludicrous. It was also very hard which led to a very uncomfortable nights rest as sleep was very difficult. There was a very small almost child like single wardrobe which you couldn’t hang a full length suit or dress in. The en-suite bathroom had a rickety, flimsy sliding door dividing it from the bedroom. The decor was dated with peeling wallpaper and the metal window frames very dirty with mould on the wood work. Breakfast took over an hour to be served after ordering. Our friends in the same wedding party, one of whom was the bride also didn’t receive there food for well over an hour whilst others on the restaurant were served their food beforehand. The hotel lacks any organisation and structure to cater for its guests adequately. The hotel requires full refurbishment in areas and the room size needs to be looked into as it simple isn’t worth anywhere near the money being charged. As a comparison I’d suggest a premier inn has vastly higher standards of cleanliness, organisation, space and comfort at half the cost.
