We spent a week at this private cottage in July and loved every minute. We're birders so we had binoculars and a spotting scope with us. From the deck we spotted a few pods of pilot whales and, in the distance, humpback whales (fins and spouts). Eagles (mature and sub-adults) were around every day along with Common Ravens, Gannets, Guillemots, and occasional Common Eider. Song sparrows and their young were everywhere on the property. One early morning I briefly observed a bull moose on the lower part of the road.
The cottage is all you need for an enjoyable stay. We had excellent cell service (Verizon and AT&T) and after establishing a cell phone hot spot we had Internet access. It's nice, but this location begs you to stay "off the grid" as much as possible.
The Milky Way at night was as good as I've seen. Stay up late, block the few lights from the small motel on the hill with your car, sit close and be amazed. Binoculars, again, will show you a celestial world rarely seen. We had three great nights during our stay. Oh, and don't forget to stop at Walmart/Canadian Tire and pick up some $10 folding chairs if you're planning extended stays.
Many thanks to David and the four young men who assisted us after I got the rental car stuck in a small ditch. The warmth of the people in Bay St. Lawrence made our trip truly enjoyable.
For history buffs there's an interesting Pioneer Cemetery on Money Point Road (go left as you leave the property).
Many thanks to Katy and her family for sharing this lovely property!
