“Old World Charm”

This is really the only place to stay in Biarritz. I find the area rather tired. To venture out of the grounds is not really worth it unless you drive to St. Jean de Luz for dinner. The beach is packed with surfers and families. Better to use one of the two lovely pools. I found prices outrageous...a very basic pedicure (no fancy wax or massage) was 100 E. At dinner in the gourmand restaurant I asked for quail well done, it came rare because that is how the chef felt it should be done. It was then stuck back together and recooked (fois gras inside melted by this time). Not done in a restaurant that claims to be gourmand. Staff all pleasant and helpful.
