“Amazing Value”
We got a deal and expected an ok hotel. This place was really nice. Staff were great, it was warm, clean and top quality. We would highly recommend it.
“Will definitely stay at the Dorint again”
Our room at the Dorint was a good size and spotlessly clean. The staff were exceptionally helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We did not have breakfast in the hotel as we do not usually eat breakfast but the staff were happy to serve us with a coffee in the bar area. We will definitely return to the Dorint and would recommend it to others.
“very good value for money”
Hotel very conveniently located for the Messe/conference centre, a 15-min walk to the city centre and good bus/tram connections. Cheerful and helpful staff at reception. The (single) room was clean, not too small, and very comfortable. The bed, blankets and the room tempertaure were perfectly tuned. Excellent breakfast (not included in the room price, so not very cheap, but there are no cafes nearby). My only complaint: expensive internet access (not wireless); in the 21st century, wifi is as integral to a hotel room as hot showers, and should be included.
“Best Ever”
We cannot fault this hotel at all. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The Room was the cleanest we have ever had and most comfortable. Would have no hesitation in booking this hotel again. The free travel card made it so easy to see the sights on trams and buses. I have seen some complaints regarding the cost of breakfast. I would like to point out that ALL the hotels are the same, Switzerland is an expensive country. We found a small cafe to have breakfast but this still cost us about £10.
“Absolutely fine”
We stayed for three days over Christmas at a very reasonable rate. The hotel is anonymous, but comfortable and clean. The hotel is not in the centre of the city, but not far away and very convenient for public transport which is very good. as visitors, we were pleasantly surprised to get free public transport passes within the city (and to the airport) for buses and trams which made a big difference .
“Great value hotel in Basel”
Very close to the centre of Basel. Tram 14 took 5-10 minutes from hotel to the Marketplatz. The hotel was exceptionally clean and well maintained. We had an air conditioned / executive room which I would recommend. Tea and coffee making facilities in our room were very much appreciated. Bottle of water on arrival in our room, would have been nice to get one each day! On checkout we had a city tax to pay, the equivalent of £4-5 per night. Did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but it did look nice. Had a drink in the lobby bar which was very comfortable. Ideal hotel for a city break in Basel.
“Staff recognise you and are very helpful and charming”
I always stay at the Dorint if I can when visiting Basel. There doesn't appear to be a big turnaround of staff and normally they recognise you and welcome you before you check-in. Service is faultless - great bunch. Big Fan!!

Dorint Hotel Basel: Great value, breakfast expensive but really good (try and include in deal). Location 15 mins easy walk from Basel but free Tram and Bus pass given on check in. Staff friendly and efficient thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Basel is a lovely city.
“Good Business Hotel”
The Dorint is a good business hotel, staff at reception were all very pleasant and helpful. The rooms were not very big but were comfortable and really clean with television. Only thing I felt was missing was tea making facilities in the room, a bit disappointing. Apart from that everything was satisfactory.
“Good value hotel with nice, friendly staff”
Basel is not cheap but the Dorint provided excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful and our rooms were spacious and clean. At 26 Swiss francs, breakfast was expensive but at least there was a wide choice and the cooked food (eggs, bacon, sausages etc) was very tasty. In any event there did not appear to be any alternative eating places in the immediate vicinity. Although the hotel was a long walk from the city centre, it was only a 10 minute tram ride and there were up to 8 trams an hour. We were there for the Switzerland v England football match and the number 14 tram took us straight from the hotel to the stadium in about 20-25 minutes. We thought Basel was a picturesque, compact city and the Dorint was an ideal base.
