“Very stylish and newer Sofitel in the centre of Luxembourg city”

I've stayed in this Sofitel before in 2008, so I knew I was going to choose to stay there again when back in Luxembourg. There is another Sofitel in another part of the city, but it isn't as new and not as stylish and trendy as this Sofitel, so don't get them confused. This Sofitel is located close to the city centre and much easier to walk to the train station, buses, all public transport and shops. The rooms are spacious and have lovely bathrooms and very comfortable king size beds. They all come well equipped with lovely toiletries, slippers, etc and if you forget any necessary items, tooth brushes, cotton wool, sewing kits and razors are free of charge. There is an expresso coffee machine in all the rooms and the mini bar drinks are also complimentary (not alcohol, they're all soft drinks or mineral waters). The hotel lobby looks rather like walking into a contemporary art museum, it's very stylish and well designed. Staff are friendly and very helpful here, too. The bar is on the 8th floor and was closed the night we stayed there because it was booked for a private party. There is a gym/fitness room, but no pool or leisure club here, which is the only let down. Beware of very expensive taxi charges if you take a taxi from a hotel. We got a taxi to the RockHal concert venue for a rock concert, which was around 20 minutes drive and got charged 70 euros which was a shock. Airport buses are walking distance cost just 1.50 euros or 2 euros don't waste money on taxis.

“Perfect Hotel in the perfect location”

this hotel is fantastic! it is in a quiet hotel location but just a 5 min walk from the centre. it is a luxury hotel with all the trimings - I would stay there again like a shot!!

Area recommendations

You should take a trip on the canal which takes you around the old town and also out to the Parliament buildings.

“Good location within easy walking distance to the old city”

Excellent staff and room facilities .Unless familiar with the city it is rather difficult to drive up to the hotel. Daily parking charges of 25 euros a day are way too high

“As expected - possibly the only viable hotel in town”

We were in one of the superior, refurbished contemporary rooms which were very nice. My sister had asked for a smoking room but the new contemporary (refirbished) rooms are all non-smoking, so she was upgraded to a junior suite. Only problems: the restaurant is a little expensive and the receptionist was really stupid, but thankfully the Concierge managed to hold the whole ground floor together.

“Very impressed”

True 4 star hotel, very clean throughout, English speaking staff that were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Great location, in walking distance to most everything in a very upscale area of the city. Your car can be parked in the hotel's underground garage by valet or yourself. Great trip overall!

“The A/C was very important !”

The hotel is in a good, quiet location and minutes to all attractions. It is a bit dated and without any charm but , what was more important , the A/C in the room worked really well in 90 degrees plus weather.

It is a small central area. Anywhere except next to the Cathedral or the tram tracks.

“My favourite hotel in France!”

Checking into the Sofitel at Strasbourg was such a pleasant encounter. The front office personnel was friendly and patient in dealing with our relentless questions. Even the bell captain was very very polite and spoke excellent English. We'll strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Strasbourg.

“Excellence in Etrasbourg”

Excellent location with helpful staff and superb room. The only problem was the level of pricing of breakfast. Quiet locale with excellent decor and fittings. Very convenient for everythimg in Strasbourg.

Area recommendations

The river cruise and cathedral were excellent. Additionally the Orangerie (includind storks) was delightful. Overall an excellent city in every respect.

“Close to shopping but hop skip and jump away so still quiet”

Overall, I was very impressed with this hotel. The service was great, and they accomodated my every request. The staff's English was also very good (which was extremely helpful to me). I would definitely stay again!
