Sultanhan Hotel - Special Class

"The hotel is very well located in Sultanhamet. It's off the main road in a square which means it's in a quiet area (although obviously if there are police/ambulance etc sirens blaring away you do hear them). That said it is a 2 minute walk to the main road and the tram line and 5 minutes to the Blue Mosque. At first the hotel looks a bit dark and dowdy but that's really just the lobby. My room was bright and airy and nicely decorated with a good shower. They also upgraded me so I had a small terrace with a view of the Bosphorous and if you looked hard enough you could just about make out the tops of the minarets of the Blue Mosque. Terrace was fine and you could use the table and chairs. The room was a decent size for the location (you have to be realistic given the area), it had a TV (there were some English language channels), fridge, kettle etc. Decent black out blind. I didn't need to use the AC. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is on the top floor with a fantastic view of Istanbul, . Breakfast was very good for this type of establishment. It's buffet style but containing: boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, local sausages, fresh bread, cereal, yoghurt, local cheeses, local pastries coffee machine, fruit machine (OJ, apple, cherry- not fresh but if you want fresh you need a different type pf hotel or go buy it in the local market). it's not the Four Seasons so don't expect an omlette station but very good all round. I didn't eat lunch there."

"I absolutely loved my stay here. As a solo female traveler, I felt so safe and genuinely cared for from the moment I arrived. The service was incredibly warm and friendly. It honestly felt like I had a family member looking out for me while I was in Istanbul. The location was perfect. It’s tucked away from the main street, so it felt quiet and peaceful, but you’re literally one block away from everything. A coffee shop is basically steps away, as is the tram, which I actually found much easier and more useful than the train. Galata Port and so many other places are easily walkable from the hotel. My room was clean, comfortable, and I always felt safe coming and going. But the service really stood out. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful without ever feeling overbearing. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, especially to women traveling solo. It was the perfect little home base for Istanbul, and I would happily stay here again."

"The hotel is located right across the street from the cruise terminal. Also the Hop on Hop off bus called the "BusForus" in Istanbul was a 2 minute walk diagonally across the street. I booked one night in a less expensive room and the next night in a more upgraded room because of availability. When I got there I was given the two nights in the better room for the same price, which was very nice of the hotel to offer without my mentioning the inconvenience it would have been. The room with terrace was large and with a very large terrace overlooking the port and city. The breakfast buffet offers a much larger selection of choices than most other hotels that I have stayed at and has a great view of the port and city. I highly recommend the Port Bosphore Hotel."
