Classic Bach Feel
Beautiful location to stay at and has everything you need for a low-maintenance classic stay at a bach. Check-in was easy and had great communication with the host.

Beautiful peaceful stay!
Beautiful location, very private. We had a lovely stay at the cottage which is fully equipped with everything we needed and very clean. So lovely to be able to sleep with the curtains open and wake up to the sunrise and birds in the morning.

Stunning bird life
We didn't manage to do as much snorkelling as we hoped on this trip due to ill health but we had a wonderful time sitting on the deck birdspotting. Kākā, tuī, kererū, robins! it was amazing. very cool location.

Like a treehouse
Great spot for a week away with a young family. Toddler loved the stash of books, toys and playing on the deck. The shady verandah was appreciated on the hot days and the trees surrounding the cottage are amazing. But a few mosquitos about - would take mosquito nets next time for sleeping at night

A lovely place to get away from city life
I stayed here by myself for the first night and my family joined me for the second. Communications were top notch, and everything was how it said it would be. We saw a lot of bird life and that was just what I was after. Seeing a Kookaburra for me was a first too! Everything is close by should you need it, and it’s a really peaceful place in the world. I had six swims at 3 different local beaches, did two amazing bush walks, went to one local restaurant, went to the Matakana markets and read two magazines. That is a far cry from a crazy weekend in Auckland. I can’t wait to come back and do it again!!

Birds galore
I loved the tranquility, pure nature bliss. Woodpidgeons, Tuis at least 10 at the same time, Kakas, rosellas, kingfisher, fantail and more, I even heard a kookaburra… As I needed time out, this was pure bliss. I loved the outdoor shower, and living down to earth. Thank you so much.

Lovely stay!
We had a lovely stay here, would gladly come again. Host was great at communicating and it's such an awesome spot, close to Omaha and Tahwaranui. Home has all the amenities needed, the air conditioning/heat pump was a real treat in the hot days too. Thanks again

Perfect family getaway
Wonderful place that we thoroughly enjoyed staying at. Very private and quiet, surrounded by lush greenery and native birds. The host was great in responding to our queries and made sure our stay was comfortable. The kiddies (1 and 4 yo) enjoyed the toys and books available there, as well as playing on the deck and picking wildflowers. Thanks for having us, Kereru Lodge!

We Came We Saw We Conquered
We came to Kereru Cottage We saw what we were looking for - peace and quiet within nature without people We conquered Aucks (for a couple of days) with our absence Kereru Cottage is completely established, everything you would expect is present and it works well, the cottage has a relaxing atmosphere and privacy is 100%, birds feeding two metres of the deck as you enjoy a couple, end of day ... Highly recommended

Great private spot in the bush
Nice and easy place to stay, good sized deck they backs onto the bush. Lots of native birds just hanging out metres from the house. Definately recommend

Peace and quiet
It was a lovely quiet and cosy Bach. The beds were very comfortable. The location is perfect to explore the surrounding area and then be able to return to the quiet of the bay. Bird watchers will be absolutely in their happy place. At the time of our visit only one burner worked on the BBQ. I would highly recommend not having limited data for WiFi in this day and age for guests.

Gorgeous retreat
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Kereru cottage. It was lovely and quiet, and amazing to see the kaka and Kereru in the trees outside. Everything was clean and tidy. A very relaxing trip.

Perfect family get away destination
We had a wonderful time exploring the Matakana area coming back to this cosy base. Small and compact but perfect for all our needs. Our 6 and 4 yr old loved their "holiday house" and were sad to leave. Highlights for us included the birdlife, saw many Kākā's and a Kookaburra. Close access to beaches was fantastic. Highly recommend

Good for Family!
Was a gorgeous cozy getaway. Plenty of space for the fam to gather and do family game nights. The cottage has definitely met the bach vibe, bring your own linen, own food to cook a meal together, or even pop to matakana for dinner one night. Small beach within walking distace is full of beautiful shells.

Just the beginning
Property was grt. Short walk to 2 beaches. And grt bird life. Never saw owners. Just a suggestion if bach has not been stayed in for a few days (in winter) someone turns heatpump on early on day of arrival. Bach was frozening when we arrived ad did not warm up to the next day. Have 2 sick adults now. Bedroom light needs attention.

Quiet sea view hideaway
Lovely Bach in good location. Easy to use, easy to clean, well maintained. Access to all surrounding spots in Matakana and the regional park. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

Quiet location for Regional Park.
The cottage is very near the Tawharanui Regional Park. It is a great area for hikes and wildlife watching including the rare NZ Kiwi. The cottage was fitted with all the basic needs and was a comfortable stay. However, it is for those who can do without using their mobile phone for their stay. Try it, it is great to experience peace and nature, for a time.

A Great Base from which to Explore Surrounding Areas
A well equipped and maintained holiday hideaway. It is evident that our hosts have given much thought and care to making a space where families can have a comfortable base for a holiday. The spacious deck with sea views framed by natural bush gave privacy and the chance to relax. We perceived one appliance issue at the start, and our host was extremely responsive and willing to act. The ultra-quiet a/c unit was top class because it enabled us to shut the windows, keep out evening bugs and sleep well. The proximity of the bach enabled us to visit Tawharanui ahead of the crowds and return for evening walks and mountain bike rides, which we made the most of. We had a wonderful stay and appreciated what the bach had to offer. Plan to disconnect a bit from the world, as wifi and phone coverage is limited.

Great place to relax with a bush surrounded deck, and so much bird life. Beach just down the road. Everything in the bach that we needed for our stay and lots of activities - Matakana, Tawharanui sanctuary, and Kawau Island to name a few. Would stay again.

Views of the sea thru the bush with native birds flying around overhead. Comfy beds and air conditioning a great bonus in the heat, well appointed kitchen and bathroom. Limited phone coverage. Short stroll to the beaches. A great relaxing time had.

A secret hideaway
Set in the bush but a short walk to Baddeleys Beach and a little further to Campbells Beach. Both tidal inlets but so pretty with native bush and bird song to enjoy. The bach was very well equipped, a full kitchen and bathroom with laundry facilities if needed. Two bedrooms with very comfortable queen beds and feather duvets. spacious decks and a friendly kereru eating berries just a few metres from the lounge window! We thoroughly enjoyed 2 nights and apart from the rain it was most enjoyable. We would very much like to return and enjoy some hot days sipping a wine on the deck. Thank you to John our host who was easy to communicate with.
