During the reservation process I accidentally got the check-in date wrong by one day. I noticed my error within 5 minutes and immediately called the hotel and alerted them. They told me they would not object to cancellation of the reservation. Subsequently I notified Expedia and the first agent told me that the hotel objected to cancellation and I forfeited my entire room charge. I walked to the hotel (staying at Barclay Suites across the street) and talked to the same person who approved my cancellation and rejected Expedia agent’s request. I sent an email to the hotel management company and called Expedia again and this time the agent told me the hotel does not answer Expedia calls. Both agents sounded young and somewhat un-assertive women. I went to the hotel again to force the reception to answer the call. After 2 hours, I was able to get the cancellation confirmed. It is evident that Expedia Upper Management needs to negotiate with the hotels that if errors like mine occur, the swift cancellation should be a painless process or else the hotel would be taken off their list. The agents need to be given assertiveness training and learn how to handle hotel staff. Since we pay with credit cards, I would have disputed the charge and create endless headaches for all parties involved. I am not sure if I could have done this if not physically present.

We came to Auckland for a family holiday. We booked in to stay for 6 nights and on the 3rd day, my children played with kinetic sand and left it on the floor as we were in a hurry. When we came back, the reception called us and said we had done "damage" to the room and they have a video of it. I went to the reception to have a look and the guy at the reception was condescending and rude. I explained that it is kinetic sand and it does not do damage. They vacuumed it and charged us $172. From that time on, every time we called reception or order coffee, they never failed to ask for the payment. We felt very uncomfortable and harrassed. The duty manager quoted us $240. Very inconsistent and also condescending. We paid the charge and whilst we were still checked in. This is a ver frustrating and disappointing experience for someone who uses Holiday Inn every time we travel (to Queesntown especially). Horrible customer service. It ruined the mood of our holiday

Nice property in the center and near Auckland City Center. Also close the harbour, dining and shopping. We loved the stay. Staff is awesome and care to ensure our stay was great.

Firstly, No parking lot. No complimentary water on arrival. Box of tissues nearly empty[only 10 pieces in the box] . No spare toilet paper. The towels have a nasty smell. Iam very disappointed. I paid $399 for 1night plus $59 for parking. This is Thursday, 14th March and its my birthday. I will never go back there again and will not recommend to holiday inn to anyone

Pros: location was great. View from the room was spectacular. A very decent breakfast. Cons: the place is a very busy, high-capacity tourist hotel, no quiet place to work with a computer if you need a short but focused effort. There are meeting rooms, which are always closed.

Centrally located, accessible to airport bus and cruise terminal. Close to shopping on Queen street. Very clean and well maintained. Breakfast had good variety and quality.

Central location . Nice new property. Size just right . Sorry took one star out because even if you put 2 pillows as soft and firm marked, they both were terribly soft ( worst ones in whole trip!!)

Curtains on my windows were too sheer and people outside could see in. Also, the sheer curtains let too much light in for sleeping. Also, the check-in time (3:00 PM) is far to late. However, my room was clean and updated.

Good place I did book 2 singles and a queen bed turned up thinking they had received my request but they said they hadn’t and only offered 2 queens which was ok-apart from that it was a great stay great buffet breakfast would recommend. Close to town as well and at a good price

Escalator up to reception with full Size bags and other luggage not so good. Breakfast very limited for a vegan with nothing "green." Construction all around the street. Pros: room very clean and adequate although small.

For Americans traveling internationally, this was a great hotel with one exception: the parking was very tricky. It would have been nice to have been informed by hotel staff of the parking options nearby, their rules for after hours entrances/exits, and the fees.

We really enjoyed our stay. The room was extremely clean and modern and the staff were lovely and helpful. The hotel was an easy, mostly downhill, walk to the cruise ship terminal. The included breakfast was a pleasant surprise. Would definitely stay again.

This hotel was in a great location for us, the staff was excellent, and the view from our room was wonderful. One little caviot, the bathroom was odd. It had translucent glass walls all around and I felt didn't offer enough privacy. Depending on who you're traveling with that might be an issue. But overall our stay was wonderful.

Feb 2024. Building and road repairs were being carried out around the hotel. Not intrusive, but did not create a good welcome. Breakfasts were self service, with a good range and regularly refilled.
