Beautiful building with a gorgeous flowering almond tree on the front terrace. The sound of the Tech river from my balcony is magic. Excellent bed and linens. The breakfast is good (11 Euros) but the tea and coffee are awful due to the chlorinated water. "Ambient music" in the reception area, bar and dining room is annoying noise. Very friendly service.

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was beautiful. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The rooms were nice, and the breakfast was delicious. We would stay here again!

Nature and calm.
A peaceful, magical and close to nature place. You can hear a river from your room. And the view over the river and the mountains is fantastic.

Wonderful location by the river. Big parking. Quiet. Great views. Room was clean comfortable and well furnished. Kitchen had everything needed. Bed very comfortable. Nice staff.

Good overall
Good overall. However, the room smelled a lot like cigarette and the shower could have been cleaner. Location was perfect, right next to the river, quite calm.

The hotel was fine. It was very diffcult to find the hotal location as the address in Hotel.com database is wrong. Good that the phune nu,ber at least was correct. Overwise you need a halp of police to fin your hotel in another town. WI-FI was avsolutely loosy.

The hotel has all one may need for a stay. The rooms are a decent size. There is a kitchenette in each room. Bathrooms are nice and big. Friendly and helpful staff.

Excellent location.
With the river Ftech close by the hotel is in a peaceful location with ample parking. The studios are fairly well equiped but would be better if there was a kettle and toaster! None of the staff speak English so a basic knowledge of French comes in handy. The bar and food menus are quite basic and simple so don’t expect miracles! To walk into town takes about 15-20 minutes which is fine. Amelie les Bains is lovely and very typically French with a good variety of bars and restaurants. Would certainly like to return.

A great deal in Amelie
The staff is wonderful, the town is amazingly beautiful, and the value can't be beat!! This is not a luxury hotel, but it's location, views, and cleanliness, far exceed its modest price. You get a wonderful kitchenette if you feel like making your own meals, or you can dine in town. I would suggest heading down to Ceret for dinner though. Excellent food, and the atmosphere on the Place du la 9 Jets can't be beat! (If your into peaceful, understated beauty). If your going to spend some time in this spectacular valley, and you want someplace to stay that won't break your budget and won't disappoint, this is it! P.S. Ask for room 103! Make sure you don't get room R04

Self catering? Note..
It should be borne in mind that room facilities seem to have changed this year. - discovering this after arrival. I had arrived expecting same as booked previous year i.e. a standard room I spoke with the receptionist who explianed that their studio rooms have a kitchen which would be possible to offer an upgrade to, confirming that the ' economy' rooms do not have a useable kitchen facility,, apparently changed from this year.

A surprise in the mountains
My husband and I were traveling by car from Warsaw, Poland to Alicante, Spain and we always like to stay off the beaten path. This hotel was just that but a pleasant surprise. The babbling brook lulled us to sleep, the food was all locally sourced and the smell of the forest was so refreshing. When we awoke and saw the view and all that is available we wished that we could have stayed longer. The room was nothing special but it did have a small kitchen which if we brought our family along that would have come in handy. The room was clean and the mattress was very comfortable. If we travel this way again, we would definitely stay here again. Oh...and it is dog friendly.

No English spoken !
The receptionist who I was told later was new was not very welcoming to us on arrival. She kept trying to tell me that Hotels.com had not yet paid for our room ( but was that my problem?!) She gave us a room that was not what we had booked - it was a grade below with no balcony. When I told the manager later he was apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine as a compensation. But I didn't like the attitude of the receptionist and the manager didn't speak English so it was not the best experience .

NICE APPARTMENT in pleasant natural setting
We stayed here four nights and had a restful stay - sitting outside by the river on lounge chairs on a sunny day, going for walks to town or nearby towns, going for drives towards the Spanish border and historic sights/towns. Staff was helpful and friendly. The apartment was very well equipped and comfortable, with a nice balcony. A minor consideration: though the bed was acceptably good, it would be better with a mattress topper (because we could still feel the springs (which bothered our sore backs a little). Would definitely recommend and return.

Good location and clean but facilities quite basic
Nice hotel in a good location. Some minor maintenance issues in the bedroom as the sink was blocked (which was quickly rectified by one of the staff). The shower tray didn't drain well so felt like we risked it overflowing and the shower head was poor. Lovely grounds - we would have liked to have sat out in the gardens with a beer but the price of the drinks in the bar was very steep - nearly twice the price of a beer in the town centre! All in all a good hotel though.

Wow, wow and triple WOW!
A beautiful location, very peaceful. Staff incredibly helpful and friendly. Castel is not luxury but it does have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for an Excellent price, I had the studio with view and didn't need anything more. I cooked every day with local produce from the market recommended by reception, and spent my silent meditation retreat very close to heaven!! The river is especially beautiful, and next time I look forward to exploring the area a little more too.

Just as I thought I had driven too far there was a sign pointing me in the direction of the hotel. Hotel was quaint and clean. Overlooked by a Fortress on a nearby hill and a short walk to a nearby river, which I could hear from my room. Definitely beats staying in Perpignan. You definitely feel you are out in the country but in reality you are not too far from civilization. Some of the reviews talked this hotel down, I didn't have any problems. Size of room was not a surprise. I think it was good value for money overall.

Peaceful location, comfortable.
We were surprised arriving in the hotel how good and quite location it has. My room was equipped in kitchen facility and a balcony looking onto the river, really very quite. Superior room was adequate size comfortable and and clean. We had very good two nights stay with plenty of places to visit around.

Apparthôtel très bien...chambre spacieuse et propre...côté cuisine tout est au top...climatisation un bonheur...parking gratuit...bémol si changement de serviettes pendant le séjour ce sont des frais supplémentaires ..ceci dit je recommande et j'y retournerai volontiers

Cadre magnifique Hôtel et service de qualité Petit bémol pour les chambres sans frigo ni cuisine et la Clim que l’on entends beaucoup trop fort Je reviendrais très certainement mais je prendrais une chambre supérieur… et surtout pas en été à cause des moustiques pour ceux qui comme moi sont sujet à les attirer A part ça rien à dire

La naturaleza
Sitio ideal para respirar en la naturaleza. El sonido continuo del río a su vera, el bosque, las vistas, la cercanía tanto a Amelie les Bains como a Arles-sur-Tech, las zonas comunes sumamente cómodas hacen del Castel un sitio único en la zona que no te lo puedes perder!

Convenable, en depannage pas plus de 2 jours. Pas d'attention particulière... Mm pas une bouteille d'eau...Gel douche aux embruns de thanatopracteurs... Parking avec qqs places d'ombres. Presentation de l'hôtel laisse attendre du fois gras AOP au final on a eu du pâté Henaff...
